The Late Duke Of Clarence And Avondale.

I last being attended bv the representatives of her Majesty , and in all cases where possible , either by the Sovereigns in person to whom they were accredited , or by hig h officers lo whom was delegated the duty of representing those Sovereigns . The whole civilised world , indeed , appears to have participated in I he obsequies of the late illustrious Duke of Clarence and Avondale .

The following notices have been issued by United and Mark Grand Lodges respectively relative to the decease of our illustrious brother : - UNITED GRAND LODGE OF ANCIENT FREE AND ACCEPTED MASONS OF ENGLAND .

His ROVAL HIGHNESS AI . ISKRT EDWARD , PRINCE OF WALES , K . G ., & c , & c , M . W . GRAND MASTER . In consequence of the much lamented death of His Royal Highness THE DUKE OK CLARENCE AND AVONDALE , K . G ., Provincial Grand Master of Berkshire , Past Grand Warden , it is ordered that the Grand Lodge and all subordinate Lodges be placed in Masonic mourning for the space of Three Months frnni this dntft .

The mourning to be worn by brethren individually to be as follows Grand Officers , Present and Past—Three rosettes of black crape on the badge , and one at the point of the chain or collar just above the jewel . Masters , Past Masters , and Master Masons—Three black crape rosettes on badge and one on collar where the latter is worn . Fellow Crafts and Entered Apprentices—Two black crape rosettes at the lower part of the badge . White gloves . By command of the M . W . Grand Master .

Among the innumerable postponements due to the lamented death of the Duke of Clarence and Avondale , must be mentioned that of the installation banquet of the Grand Master ' s Lodge , No . 1 , which in the ordinary course , would have been held on Monday , the 18 th instant , but which will

now take place on Monday , the 15 th February . That of the Studholme Lodge , No . 1591 , at which the late Duke had promised to be present , and which would have been held on Friday , the 15 th instant , in honour of Bro . the Earl of Elision ' s installation , has also been postponed , and so likewise have the following , namelv :

Installation banquet of the Lodge of Sincerity , No . 1 74 . Installation meeting of the Royal Kent Lodge of Antiquity , No . 20 , at Chatham , till the 27 th instant . Installation banquet of the Lodge of Emulation , No . 21 . Installation banquet of the St . George's Lodge , No . 140 , till the 27 th instant . Annual ball given by the Barnato Lodge , No . 2261 ; .

Memorial services , at which the local Freemasons were strongly represented , were held at Hol y Trinity Church , Hull ; at the Church of St . Lawrence , Reading , at which the service was conducted by Bro . ihe Rev . J . . M . Guilding , Prov . G . Chap , lierks , & c , while among the wreaths made by Uro . Dick Radclyll ' e and Co ., of 128 and 129 , High Holborn , and dispatched to Windsor , was one made for the Provincial Grand Lodge of

Berkshire . This measured six feet across , and was composed of arum lilies , lilies of the valley , white hyacinths , tulips , gardenias , primulas , Ike . It was in the form of a shield , ihe ground work being formed ol white primulas , while the word Berks and the square and compasses were inserted in blue violets , To this was attached b y means of violet bows a sprig of acacia , and on the bows , in letters of srold , were printed " Provincial

Grand Lodge , J . T . Morland , M . A ., D . P . G . M ., J . W . Martin , P . G . Sec . " A second wreath manufactured by the same firm was sent by the Etonian Lodge of St . John , No . 2119 , Windsor , the senior Jodge in the Province of Berkshire . This was composed of choice white flowers with the square and compasses in yellow and violet , and a sprig of acacia was attached by regal

purple ribbons and gold fringe , the inscription in gold letters on the ribbons being " Etonian Lodge St . John , No . 209 , Berks , ' E . Prince , W . M ., C . D . Hume , . Sec . " Other wreaths were sent by the Lennox Browne Lodge , No . 231 S , and the Walthamstow Lodge of Instruction , No . 2192 , Bro . Bromhead , Prov . S . G . W . Essex , who had ihe honour of being present at the ceremony in St . George ' s Chapel , Windsor , being the bearer of both .
