Bro . C . Smith , J . W ., responded . He joined the lodge 12 years ago , and if it was his good fortune to become W . M . in two years , it would be the same length of time as was taken by their W . The vocal entertainment , under the direction of Bro . VV . Emerson , was excellent , and was carried out by Mr . Walter Grace , Bros . Etherington Smith , H . passed . A discussion on a notice of motion on the Benevolent Fund , brought forward by Bro . Watkins , P . Lodge was opened , and the minutes confirmed , after which Bro . John Passmore Edwards was impressively raised to the degree of a Master Mason . Bro . W . R . Burgoyne Watts was elected a joining member , and Bro . S . H . Hare was elected a " Cornwall " member , On the proposition of the VV . M . the sum of 10 guineas was voted to thetR . M . M . for allowing him to say a word or two on behalf of the Masonic Charities . The Benevolent Institution would hold its Festival in the near future under the presidency of the Provincial

Grand Master of Somerset , and while grateful for all that had been done in the past , was anxious that the future might not fall behind . The beneficiaries numbering 500 , and necessarily required a large income to meet the annual expenditure . VVith reference to the Institution with which he had the honour to be associated , he ventured to think it was doing a work in no way second to any other Institution . Each Institution had its own good strong points , and the only limit to their work was the limit of their funds . They had now 2 G 3 girls receiving a thoroughly sound educitbn .

Taking the results of the examinations ann mnced , they found' that at the College of Preceptors 40 passed out of 41 , at the associated examination of the Rjyal College of Music and Royal Academy of Music nine were examined , and all pissed , and that of 2 ( 5 candidates for mathematics at the Science and Art Examination all passed . Th : Girls ' Institution had in the past enjoyed large Festivals , and he was grateful forth ; support given , but it could not exist entirely upon past merits , and he locked with deep anxiety to the Festival which would take place on the Sth May . He was sorry to siy the list of Stewards was not equal to the corresponding period last year . There was a considerable

falling off , and , therefore , it was necessary to draw attention to it . The Provincial Grand Master of the province , which the members ofjthis Cornish Lodge claimed as their mother province , had kindly consented to preside at the next Festival , and ha fe ' . t sure the brethren who felt enthusiasm , respect , and love for their Provincial Grand Mister , would naturally come forward to support him . He was very grateful for the sum of 10 guineas voted in the lodge , and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to their very young member—so far as Masonry was concerned—their esteemed friend and brother—Passmore Edwardsfor his kindness in consenting to represent the lodge on the occasion mentioned .

Bro . J . Roberts , P . M ., as the acting I . P . M ., in the absencj of Brjs . Burgess , proposed " The Health of the W . M . " and referred to the quiet , solemn , and impressive manner in which Bro . Rawle had performed the ceremony of raising . Their VV . M . was always willing to do everything he csuld in the interest of the lodge , and would continue to do so to the end of his office . Bro . C . Rawle , VV . M ., returned thanks , and expressed his regret that thsre hid not been more work for him to do . If the work was found , he would be happy to do the best he could for them , for the lodge , and Freemasonry in general . If he could perform his duties to their satisfaction , and leave his proud position with their approbation , he would be amply repaid for any little services he had rendered .

"The Visitors" having been honoured , the VV . M . gave " The Past Misters , " and especially referred to the assistance rendered by Bro . R iberts , P . M ., on that occasion . Bro . J . Roberts , P . M ., replied , after which the W . M . proposed "The Treasurer and Secretary . " Bro . VV . Lake , P . M ., P . P . G . Reg . Cornwall , Treas ., in reply , slid he was gratified

to think that this lodge was the first to congratulate him on an appointment to wnicn the W . M . had alluded , and he hoped to fill it with some credit to himself and usefulness to the Craft in general . VVith regard to his position as Treasurer , he thought the prospects for the future were brighter , and assured them they could rely upon him to discharge his duties with a due regard to economy .

Burgoyne Watts was elected a joining member , and Bro . S . H . Hare was elected a " Cornwall " member , On the proposition of the VV . M . the sum of 10 guineas was voted to thetR . M . S . B ., replied for "The Grand Officers , " and having returned thanks on their behalf , expressed his gratitude to the W . M . for allowing him to say a word or two on behalf of the Masonic Charities .

Bro . R . Greenwood , P . M . Sec , responded for " The Officsrs , " and the Tyler's toast closed the proceedings .
