Present and Past , " was responded to by Bro . j . Birch , who said that he was the junior ofiicer present , and would have gladly given way to one of the senior oflicers , but the W . do their duty . He hoped , in time , that every brother of the Florence Nightingale Lodge would participate in the honour of Provincial Grand office . Bro . Roberts then proposed the toast of "The W . AL , " saying they might all congratulate themselves on seeing such an excellent Mason as Bro . Alorris in the chair of their lodge , because in whatever office he had held Bro . Morris had always filled it with honour and credit , and whatever
he did in Alasonry he did it well , and was , both as a man and a Alason , one to whom they could look up with reverence and respect . The W . AL , in response , thanked the brethren and Bro . Roberts , and could assure them that his efforts to carry out the duties of the distinguished and exalted position in which their unanimous vote had that day placed him should be unrelaxed to the end . He should endeavour to steer the
good old ship , while at the helm of it , within the ancient landmarks of the Order , not to be lax in duty , nor to exact a too rigid discipline , but to work for the harmony of the lodge and the best interests ot the Order . Bro . Nichols , in responding to a very flattering reception of the toast of his health as " The Installing Officer , " said he was exceedingly pleased at the kind eulogiums of the W . M . and the kind reception of the toast by the brethren .
He was sorry to say that it was most likely he shouldsoon have to leave the locality , the exigences of his business requiring him to reside in Surrey , where the most of it lay . That might , however , lie in the remote future , and he hoped to spend many more pleasant hours with them , and if he had given them any pleasure at any time , or done any thing that they approved of , that was his reward . Bro . Roberts , P . AL , in responding for "The Past
Alasters , " congratulated the lodge on its brilliant array of Past Alasters , of whom he was the fledgling . He could only say that if their W . AL received the same support from his Past Masters that he ( Bro . Roberts ) had received , he would have a most happy , prosperous , and harmonious year of office . In the name of the Past Alasters he thanked them for the hearty reception of the toast .
Bros . Jolly , Ray , and Porter responded for " The Visitors , " and Bro . Taylor for " The Officers . " " The Alasonic and Local Press " was recognised and responded to by Bro . Jolly , and the Tyler ' s toast concluded the proceedings . An excellent programme of music was provided , Bio . Nichols presiding at the piano .

do their duty .
