Walpole witnessed a series of successful experiments in wireless telegraphy at the South Foreland Lighthouse on Saturday last . ON M ONDAY MORNING , after being closed for two months to admit of extensive improvements being made , King ' s College Hospital was re-opened for the treatment of out patients , and a week hence the 14 wards , containing 220 beds , will be ready for the reception of in-patients . All the wards have been re-floored , and each bed is supplied with a separate electric lamp and also a movable light . The cost of the improvements has been £ 3000 , and the Committee urgently appeal to the charitable public for funds .
SAVOY THEATRE . —The kind courtesy of Mr , p'Oyly Carte afforded a pleasant evening this week . We renewed acquaintance with our old favourites , " H . M . S . Pinafoie " and "The Trial by Jury . " How the delightful melodies and beautiful harmonised music came back to our remembrance and how they seemed to be appreciated by the audience . Where all the artistes worked so loyally together it would be invidious to single any one for special praise , they , as we , enjoyed their work .

MESSRS . SAMUEL BROTHERS , of Ludgate Hill , are now showing the liveries which they have just completed for the Sheriffs elect , Bros . Alderman Treloar and Alfred H . Bevan . The Alderman ' s State liveries are embroidered with an elegant design of "Great White Heath" and " Osmuda Regalis Fern , " both of which are indigenous to Cornwall , his native county ; and Bro . Bevan , in the embroidery of his liveries , displays the leek , in honour of his Welsh descent . Bro . Alderman I ' reloar ' s liveries are of Royal blue , and those of Bro . Bevan are green .

GREAT ART DISCOVERY . —Mural Paintings of the 13 th Century at Ashmansworth . —Several series of wall pair . tings of great antiquarian interest have been discovered during the process of restoring the Early Norman church of Ashmansworth , which for many centuries has stood high up on the North Hampshire hills , a few miles south of Highclere Park , the seat of Lord Carnarvon . The most ancient series of paintings probably dates from about the year 1200 , and represents the descent of Our Lord into hell . 1 his painting is on the wall of the nave .
