Bro . George Read , P . G . Std . Br ., then rose to propose tha toast— "Success to the Zetland Ledge on its fiftieth anniversary . " He said : We are met to-night on a very importa ' nt occasion , namely , the 50 th installation of VV . Ms . and the jubilee of the lodge . I have been asked by the W . M . to mention in the course of these few remarks some facts concerning the history of the lodge that may prove of interest . I can only say , that looking through the minutes I have not been able to come across anythin g more remarkable thin the extraordinary unanimity which his all along preva ' -led among the
members . I may , however , mention that I find that on Maxell 31 st , 1 S 45 , a meeting was held at the Gloucester Arms Tavern , Kensington N v . v Town , and tint it was resolved that a petition should be forwarded to the M . W . Grand Master , the Earl of Zetland , praying him to grant a warrant to hold a lodge at this tavern . The petition was signed by 15 brethren , and wis acceded to , and the lodge wis consecrate 1 on July 9 < h , 1 S 45 , Bro . Dr . R . F . Crucefix , P . G . D ., being the Consecrating Officer ; there is no record of any other Grand Lodge Officer assisting him . O . i January 12 th . 1 S 4 S ,
notice of motion was given to remove ths lodge ; this motion being put to the bilge at a meeting in March , was negatived by five votes to four . On March 14 th , 1 S 49 , it was moved , seconded , and carried that the lodge should be removed to ths Adam and Eve Tavern . On August 3 rd , 1 S 5 q . it was moved , seconded , and carried that the lodge should be removed to the King's Arms Hotel , Kensington . This wis conlirmed on September 14 th , and the lodge met at the King ' s Arm , on November 9 th , 1 S 59 , but on October gth , lSGi , another notice of motion was given to remove ' : he lodge to a more
suitable place . At a meeting convened at the Adim and Eve Tavern on November ist , 1 SG 1 , it was proposed that the lodge should ba removed to London . This was negatived by 14 votes to n , but it was then carried that the lodge should be removed to the Campden Arms , where it remained until October , 1807 . In consequenc : of this place being then about to ba pulled down , a special meeting was held at Anderton's Hotel , Fleet-street , and on November 20 th , 1 SG 7 , it was carried that the S : cretary solicit the M . W . Grand Master to remove the lodge to Anderton ' s Hotel , and at a meeting of the
lodge at Anderton s on December 20 th , iSG / , the Secretary read a letter from the Grand Secretary announcing that the permission for removal had been obtainad , and the lodge has now met at Anderton ' s Hotel for 28 years . The present Treasurer of the lodge was W . M . in 1 S 54 , and elected Treasurer in 1 SG 9 . In 1 S 72 , Bro . Andrews , P . M ., who had been Secretary for 20 years , passed away , and 1 , being appointed in his place , have now held this post of honour for 23 years . In conclusion , Bro . Read slid
that he trusted that the good feeling which hid always existed in the lodge might continue , and asked them to cordially drink to the success of the Zetland Lodge on its jubilee . The W . M ., in proposing "The Officers of the Lodge , " reminded them tint it wis only by regular attendance at lodges of instruction that they could hope to perfect themselves in their work , and expressed the hope that he should , during his period of oflice as Master , receive their loyal support .

The lodge being duly opened and a candidate initiated , Bro . Frank Adams was presented to the VV . M . as a lit candidate for the chair of K . S . for the ensuing year . Bro . Terry then delivered the addresses in his wonted eloquent and impressive manner , to the great satisfaction of the brethren , after which several cases for benevolence were brought forward , and most generously relieved . A substantia amount was also voted to Bro . Barrett's list as Steward for the next Festival of the Benevolent Institution .
All Masonic business being ended , and the lodge closed , the brethren adjourned to a banquet , which reflected great credit on the caterer , the arrangements being perfect , and the viands and wines of a recherche character . After the loyal toasts , Bro . Terry , in a few well-chosen words , responded for " The Grand Officers . " The VV . M ., in reply to the toast of his health , briefly referred to his career in his past offices , and said , having done his best in them , ' it would be some guirantee that he would do so in the honourable position he then occupied .
" The Health of Bro . Lusty , I . P . M ., " was then proposed , and he was invested with a collar and jewel . Bro . Lusty returned thanks in an appropriate manner . For "The Past Masters" Bros . Wakefield and Parrett responded , the list-nain ; d making an earnest , but humorous , appeal for support from the brethren personally towards his Steward's list .
For "The Installing Officer" Bro . Terry replied , referring to his long connection wilh the lodge . Twenty-eight years ago he consecrated it , and on every occasion except once since he had acted as Installing Master . He had always met with nothing but good feeling from the brethren . When old age and infirmity oveitook him he would ask to be relieved , but he supposed there was no peace for the wicked . The lodge was
preeminent for its support of the t hanlies . Each year their Worshipiul Masters afforded a bright example in their support of all thc Charities . The W . M . that year gave way to B'O . Parrett as Steward representing the lodge . He th inked them for whit they hid done in the past , and trusted they would continue to do so in the future , and support Bro . Parrett ' s list .
The remaining toasts having been duly honoured , the proceedings terminited . During the intervals Bros . II . Devey , G . Anderson , G . Parrett , Clifford Grout , and others contributed to the harmony .
Kennington Lodge , No . 1381 . A meeting of this lodge was held at the Horns Tavern , Kennington , on thc 5 th inst . Among those present were Breis . Dr . Millsom , W . M . j Colwell , S . Graham , 975 , as a joining member . The lodge was then closed , and the brethren aeljourned to banquet . Upon the removal of the cloth , the usual toasts received full justice .
Bro . G . Everett responded on behalf of " The Grind Officers . " He slid that he hoped thebrethren would not expect along specc ' i from him . lie bad not quite recovered from his protracted indisposition . It had afford d him a great pleasure a lew weeks ago to assist at the consecration of a new lodge . An "Off night" of this good old lodgehas a peculiar charm for the members which few of them care to miss , for it is upon these Decisions thit the brethren of the lodge interchange their ideas regarding Freemasonry and the practice of its virtues without the fear of criticism which the presence of visitors might engender in some minds . On Saturday , the 9 th inst ., at the London Tavern , Fenchurch-street , such an evening was
spent , and thc brethren were treated to an earnest and thoughtful paper from Bro . John Newton , F . R . A . S ., P . M ., G . Purst . of England , the first M aster of the lodge , upon the subject— " Why am I a Freemason ? " During the evening a telegram of congratulation was , in the name of the lodge , dispatched to the M . W . G . M ., wishing him miny happy returns of his birthday . The lodge being duly opened and a candidate initiated , Bro . Frank Adams was presented to the VV . M . as a lit candidate for the chair of K . S . for the ensuing year . Bro . Terry then delivered the addresses in his wonted eloquent and impressive manner , to the great satisfaction of the brethren , after which several cases for benevolence were brought forward , and most generously relieved . A substantia amount was also voted to Bro . Barrett's list as Steward for the next Festival of the Benevolent Institution .
All Masonic business being ended , and the lodge closed , the brethren adjourned to a banquet , which reflected great credit on the caterer , the arrangements being perfect , and the viands and wines of a recherche character . After the loyal toasts , Bro . Terry , in a few well-chosen words , responded for " The Grand Officers . " The VV . M ., in reply to the toast of his health , briefly referred to his career in his past offices , and said , having done his best in them , ' it would be some guirantee that he would do so in the honourable position he then occupied .
" The Health of Bro . Lusty , I . P . M ., " was then proposed , and he was invested with a collar and jewel . Bro . Lusty returned thanks in an appropriate manner . For "The Past Masters" Bros . Wakefield and Parrett responded , the list-nain ; d making an earnest , but humorous , appeal for support from the brethren personally towards his Steward's list .
For "The Installing Officer" Bro . Terry replied , referring to his long connection wilh the lodge . Twenty-eight years ago he consecrated it , and on every occasion except once since he had acted as Installing Master . He had always met with nothing but good feeling from the brethren . When old age and infirmity oveitook him he would ask to be relieved , but he supposed there was no peace for the wicked . The lodge was
preeminent for its support of the t hanlies . Each year their Worshipiul Masters afforded a bright example in their support of all thc Charities . The W . M . that year gave way to B'O . Parrett as Steward representing the lodge . He th inked them for whit they hid done in the past , and trusted they would continue to do so in the future , and support Bro . Parrett ' s list .
The remaining toasts having been duly honoured , the proceedings terminited . During the intervals Bros . II . Devey , G . Anderson , G . Parrett , Clifford Grout , and others contributed to the harmony .

King , and , it being unanimous , they were duly initiated , the W . M . ' s working being exceedingly impressive . The ballot was also taken on behalf of Bro . J . Graham , 975 , as a joining member . The lodge was then closed , and the brethren aeljourned to banquet . Upon the removal of the cloth , the usual toasts received full justice .
Bro . G . Everett responded on behalf of " The Grind Officers . " He slid that he hoped thebrethren would not expect along specc ' i from him . lie bad not quite recovered from his protracted indisposition . It had afford d him a great pleasure a lew weeks ago to assist at the consecration of a new lodge . Lodge of Loyalty , No . 1607 . An "Off night" of this good old lodgehas a peculiar charm for the members which few of them care to miss , for it is upon these Decisions thit the brethren of the lodge interchange their ideas regarding Freemasonry and the practice of its virtues without the fear of criticism which the presence of visitors might engender in some minds . On Saturday , the 9 th inst ., at the London Tavern , Fenchurch-street , such an evening was
spent , and thc brethren were treated to an earnest and thoughtful paper from Bro . John Newton , F . R . A . S ., P . M ., G . Purst . of England , the first M aster of the lodge , upon the subject— " Why am I a Freemason ? " During the evening a telegram of congratulation was , in the name of the lodge , dispatched to the M . W . G . M ., wishing him miny happy returns of his birthday .
