ROYAL MASONIC INSTITUTION FOR BOYS . PROPOSED SCHOLARSHIP FUND .

The folloiung circular is being issued to Lodges , & c . : — 6 , FUEBMASONS' HALL , LONDON , W . C , 2 i . v ^ November , ( Syj . The <; Commiitee Dinner Club , " consisting of members of the Council of this Institution , having recently had under consideration the desirability of establishing a Fund for the provisirn of higher education for deserving Boys after they have finished their school career , has resolved to commence

the Funel by starting a subscription amongst its members , a first list being appended . The disposition of Ihe Fund will be entrusted to an executive to be appointed by the subscribers ; the Club simply takirg the initiative and inviting the Craft to cany the matter out . At a meeting e f the Board of Management cf the Institution held on lSlh October , 1 . S 05 , it was unanimously resolved : " That this Board views with satisfaction the

proposal lo found a 'Scholarship Fund , ' and approves the icheme submitted by the Committee Dinner Club . " It has lorg been felt amtngst many energetic supporters of the Boys' School that the valuable and , of late , greatly increased benefits conferred upon the pupils may in many cases be still further enhanced , and the woik of the Institution conseived , if opportunity could be given for clever boys , after leaving the School , to peifect their attainments

by enabling them to gain Scholarships at the Universities , or in other ways to qualify for professional life or the higher wall's of applied Science and Art . The laws of the Institution do not permit of expenditure from its funds in this diiection , and it is considered tbat ihe establishment e f a separate Fund will be of great assistance in the future deve lopment of thore deserving boys who have best applied the b .-nelits conferred by the School .

The formation of such a Fund should not in any way be peimitted to interfere with the ordinary income of the Institution ; and there can be no dcubt that the object in view will appeal to all brethren who have at heart the best interests and welfare of " Our Boys . " It is suggested that in each Masonic centre a local committee should be formed to promote the aims of the Fund and receive subscriptions .

ENQUIRER . —We cannot explain to you why the subject of dispensations was not mentioned in our report of the consecration of the Crouch End Lodge and the installation of Bro . Gerrish , W . M . 9 , as its first W . M . Probably no refeience was made to it in lodsre or subsequently . Yoi may , however , very safely assume that the Grand Secretary knew perfectly well what he was about when he installed a brother who was already the W . M . of one lodge , as the W . M . of another .
