Grand Lodge , Present and Past , " was proposed by Bro . L OVERIDGK , J . W . Bros . WICKINS and ENOCH WOOD responded . Bro . KENDRICK proposed the the toast of "The Worshipful Master of the Bridge Trust Lodge . "
The toast of "The Installing Master" was given by the W . M ., who reminded the brethren of the special privilege they had enjoyed that d ly in having such an Installing Master , and thanked the Installing Master on behalf of everyone present for all his kindness and self-sacrifice . Words failed him t ) do justice to the toast , and he could say further was he only left to say " More is thy due than more than all can pay . "
Bro . ROBERT CLAY SUDLOW , P . A . G . D . C , in reply , assured the brethren that it had been a real pleasure to him to be present and take part in the proceedings . He thanked the brethren for their cordial reception , and expressed his earnest belief that the Bridge Trust Lodge had a bright future before it . took the opportunity of assuring the biethren how cordially the mother lodge of St . James welcomed 2878 , believing that in a district numbering some 50 , 000 inhabitants there was ample room for a daughter lodge to flourish . Incidentally he referred to the fact of 14 different lodges figuring in the list of founders , and concluded by wishing Bridge Trust every happiness and prosperity . Bros . CONSECRATION OF THE EAST GOSCOTE LODGE , No . 2865 .
A very large assembly of brethren from all parts of the Province of Leicestershire and Rutland were present in the Village Hall , Syston , near Leicester , on Thursday , the nth instant , to witness the consecration of the above lodge , the warrant for which was granted by the M . W . G . M . on the 9 th of July last .
In the unavoidable and much-regretted absence of Bro . Earl Ferrers , P . G . M ., Bro . S . S . Partridge , P . A . G . D . C , D . P . G . M ., presided , and in a most able and impressive manner performed the ceremony of consecration . The present officials of Provincial Grand Lodge , all of whom were summoned to attend , very efficiently supported Bro . Partridge , most conspicuous amongst them being Bros . H . Howe , P . G . D . C . ; S . Walker Wigg , M . A ., P . P . S . G . W ., as Asst . Chaplain ; R . B . Starkey , P . S . G . W ., as S . W . ; and G . Bullen , P . J . G . W ., as J . W .

The Board of Installed Masters included 60 Past Masters of the province , and no less than 67 Past Masters were present during the ceremony of consecration . McRobie , were a very special feature both of thc consecration and installation ceremonies , and gave much pleasure to all
present . The prime movers in the founding of the East Goscote Lodge are Bros . T . Coltmann , P . P . G . R . ; Rev . G . Chappell , M . A ., VV . M . elect 2431 ; and Herbert Tyler , VV . M . elect 1007 . The whole of these brethren have done an enormous amount of work , particularly Bro . Tyler , and all are to be most sincerely congratulated on the great success of the inauguration
ceremonies . Five candidates were proposed for initiation , and there seems every pro bability of the lodge having a successful career .

Bro . D . D . MERCER , S . V . P ., before the list of petitioners wasproceeieJ with , said he had the privilege and the pleasure to propose a vote of thanks to Bio . J . H . Matthews , the President of the Baard of Benevolence , but considering the large number of cases which were before the Board that night , he would not make a long speech . The meeting was a meeting for business and not for speaking , and he was sure that in dealing with the
motion the brethren would be glad that he would not speak long . All the brethren were pleased at having Bro . Matthews for their President , and he hoped that he might have health and strength for many years to presidi over the Board . With thes- ; few words he would propose " That a hearty vote of thanks be given to Worshipful Brother James Henry Matthews for the very able , kind , and courteous manner in which he has presided over the meetings of this Board during the past twelve months , and that the same
be entered on the minutes . " ( Applause . ) Bro , HENRY GARROD , J . V . P ., said he should be very pleased to second the motion the Senior Vice-President had proposed . ( Hear , hear . ) It was needless for him to add any remarks to what Bro Mercer had said . He entirely endorsed the observations which had been mads , that it was the wish of every member of the Board that the President might have many years of health to preside over them . The motion was carried unanimously and with hearty applause .

MATTHEWS , President , in acknowled ging the vote , said ; Brothers Senior and Junior Vice-Presidents , I thank you for the very kind terms in which you have proposed and seconded this resolution , but , as you said yourselves , this is a board of working , and not of talking , and , therefore , I shall confine myself to very few words , It is impossible for the President to carry on the working of the Board without he has the
assistance of the Senior and Junior Vice-Presidents and all the members of the Board , and , therefore , in passing this resolution you are in a measure patting your own back ? . I thank you very much . The brethren then proceeded with the business , and confirmed £ " 560 which had been recommended for the Grand Master ' s approval at the October meeting , and which his Royal Highness had sanctioned . Bridgetown ( Barbados ) , North Walsham , Runcorn , Marple , Truro , Windsor , Oxford , Plymouth , East Molesey , Somerset ( Bermuda ) , Penryn , Coventry , Newark-upon-Trent , Carnarvon , and Ootacamund .
Four of these were deferred , and one was dismissed . The remainder were voted a total of , £ 1030 . One case was recommended to Grand Lodge for approval of £ 100 , and three of £ 50 each . Six were recommended for the Grand Master ' s approval of £ 40 each , six of , £ 30 each , and one of . £ 25 . The remaining gifts were 13 of £ 20 each , five of £ 10 each , and one of £ z .

The weather on Thursday , the 17 th inst ., was execrable , but it takes a lot and something more than mere fog and frost to dull the enthusiasm of the " Pattisonians " when a new king is to be throned in their midst ; hence the crowd of eminent and plucky brethren who assembled at Freemasons' Hall , Mount Pleasant , Plumstead , on the
abovementioned date to witness or assist at the installation of Bro . J . H . Bull , J . W ., W . M , elect , as Master of the above fburishing and important lotge . The lodge was opened by the W . M ., Bro . A . Moore , and , after the usual prelimi . naries , Bro . R . J . Cook , P . M ., P . P . G . R ., acting as D . C , presented Bro . Bull to the VV . M . for thc purpose of receiving at his hands thc benefits of installation , and in the presence of a Baard of Installed Misters B .-o . Ball wai installed ai W .
