LIVERPOOL . —Ancient Union Lodge ( No 20 ^) . —The brethren of theabove lodge met at the Masonic Hall , Hope-street , on Thursday , the 15 th inst ., for the doiblej purpose of installing the W . M . elect and celebrating the festival of St . John the Divine . spent . LIVERPOOL . —Harmonic Lodge ( No . 216 ) . —The annual installation meeting of this lodge , which has " from time immemorial " held a prominent position in the province of which the D . G . M . is thc P . G . M ., was held at the Adelphi Hotel , on Thursday , thc 8 th inst . The mettini . was certainly one of the rn < st enjoyable , as well

as beneficial kind , as nut only perfect harmony prevailed , but the whole of the working was carried on with a completeness , precision , and efficiency which gave even the oldest Masons a new notion of work . The lodge was opened about four o ' clock by Bro . R . P . Gill , the ivtiiing W . M ., who was supported by a full complement of officers ; and amongst a brilliant array of purpled and other visitors

BOSTON . —Lodge of Harmony ( No . 272 ) . — The installation meeting of this lodge , the oldest in the province , took place , as on former occasions , in the Assembly Rooms , Boston , on the 13 th inst . There was a large attendance , including Bros . Capt . E . Locock , P . M ., D . P . G . M . of Line , & c , & c , and several visiting brethren from the sister ( Franklin ) lodge , 838 , and elsewhere .

The lodge was opened in due form , when the minutes of the last regular meeting were read and confirmed . The J . G . gave a report , and the D . P . G . M . was admitted , the brethren saluting him seven times with the Royal Sign . The W . M ., Bro . the Rev . G . W . Lowe , P . P . G . C , was , from a late family bereavement , unable to undertake the duties of installing the W . M . elect , Bro . Frank Thomas ,

Cottrell having been placed in the chair with the customary rites , received the salutations of the Installed

Masters ; the remainder of the brethren subsequently rendered the usual homage . Beal , also to the I . P . M ., Bro . Johnson , for the veiy efficient and impressive manner he had performed the ceremony of installation . Lodge was then closed , anil the brethren adjourned to the banquet room , which , was a masterpiece of thc dccoiatoi ' s art ; the entire walls were covered with pink and white drapery , and a cornice fixed all round the room of crimson cloth , on which was most tastefully

arranged branches of real oranges . Shields with spear heads and banners were suspended at equal intervals on each side , while a raised platform and canopy were fixed at the chairman ' s end , abo . e which was a handsome life size transparency of His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales , K . G ., M . W . G . M ., in full Masonic regalia , while the other end was suitably decorated with scrolls , Masonic

emblems , & c , & c , the whole forming one of the most unique and thoroughly artistic triumphs of festive decorations , such as have never been seen before at Gibraltar ' and the W . M ., Bro . Cottrell , well deserves the thanks and universal praise he received for thc very great pains he had taken in producing such a happy result . The banquet was one of Bro . Miranda ' s very best efforts , and served in

a most superb manner . On the cloth being removed , the W . M . gave "The Queen and the Craft , " "The Three Grand Masters nf England , Ireland , and Scotland , " "The District Grand Master , D . D . G . M ., and thc rest of the District Officers , Present and Past . " Bro . Chas . Johnson , I . P . M ., in proposing the toast of the evening , viz ., "The Worhipful Master , " said that in placing Bro . Cottrell in

the chair they had placed the right man in the right place . They were all proud of having such a zealous brother as their head . He never did anything by halves . He spoke in high terms of the valuable services rendered by the W . M . to the lodge during the last two years , and especially to him during his year of office . Bro . Cottrell on rising was greeted with hearty applause , and said : R . W . D . G ,

Officers and brethren , —I scarcely know what to say in response to the very flattering remarks made by the I . P . M ., Bro . Johnson , in proposing the toast of my health . You have , brethren , chosen me as VV . M . of your lodge , and I can assure you while I have the privilege of presiding over you , I trust that I shall do so with credit to myself and honour to the lodge . But this will in a great measure

depend upon the kind co-operation and willing support of my officers , and when my term of office has expired I trust you will have no cause to regret your choice . I thank you very much , brethren , for the hearty manner in which you drank my health . Several other toasts were given , that of the Tyler bringing a most thoroughly enjoyable evening to a close .

MANCHESTER . —Lodge of Affability ( No . 317 ) . —The installation meeting and St . John ' s festival in connection with this lodge was held at the Freemasons ' Hall , Cooper-street , on Tuesday , the 6 th inst . The ordinary meeting took place on the Thursday previous , a report of same having already appeared in the Freemason , but it was deemed advisable to postpone the installation

until a few days later , and hold an emergency , for the reason that the regular meeting falling on New Year ' s Day it was thought the attendance might be very small , as most of the brethren would prefer the fireside circle at their own homes to that of the lodge room . The wisdom of this arrangement was made manifest on Tuesday by the numerous assemblage of brethren , amongst whom were

St . John at a supper , and thc usual toasts were proposed and responded to , and after an enjoyable evening the brethren separated at eleven o ' clock . The musical portion of the entertainment was entrusted to the able and experienced hands of Bro . John R . Lever , who was assisted by Bros . Thomas , Shorrocks , and Stanley , and great praise is due to them for their singing of some first-class glees , iVc , while Iiro . Varley _ talent as accompanist could scarcely be excelled .

STOCKPORT . —Lodge of Peace ( No . 322 ) . — The regular meeting of this lodge was held at the Warren Bulkeley Arms Hotel , on Tuesday , the 13 th inst . There were present Bros . ) . Worsnup , VV . raised to the Second Degree , and Bro . John Gould being present to take his Third Degree , was interrogated , and , after satisfactorily answering , withdrew . The lodge was raised to the Third Degree , and on the re-admission of Bro . Gould he was raised to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason , by the W . M ., who performed the ceremony in a highly creditable manner . Bro . L . D . Bradbury

presented and explained the working tools at length . The lodge was gradually lowered to the First Degree , and some discussion on various matters took place , at the termination of which " Hearty good wishes " were expressed by the visiting brethren , and the lodge was closed in peace and harmony at 8 . 30 . The brethren afterwards sat down to supper , and a pleasant couple of hours was passed .

BATH . —Lodge of Honour ( No . 379 ) . — ' 1 'be first regular meeting after thc installation of the hew W . Shields with spear heads and banners were suspended at equal intervals on each side , while a raised platform and canopy were fixed at the chairman ' s end , abo . e which was a handsome life size transparency of His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales , K . G ., M . W . G . M ., in full Masonic regalia , while the other end was suitably decorated with scrolls , Masonic

emblems , & c , & c , the whole forming one of the most unique and thoroughly artistic triumphs of festive decorations , such as have never been seen before at Gibraltar ' and the W . M ., Bro . Cottrell , well deserves the thanks and universal praise he received for thc very great pains he had taken in producing such a happy result . The banquet was one of Bro . Miranda ' s very best efforts , and served in

a most superb manner . On the cloth being removed , the W . M . gave "The Queen and the Craft , " "The Three Grand Masters nf England , Ireland , and Scotland , " "The District Grand Master , D . D . G . M ., and thc rest of the District Officers , Present and Past . " Bro . Chas . Johnson , I . P . M ., in proposing the toast of the evening , viz ., "The Worhipful Master , " said that in placing Bro . Cottrell in

the chair they had placed the right man in the right place . They were all proud of having such a zealous brother as their head . He never did anything by halves . He spoke in high terms of the valuable services rendered by the W . M . to the lodge during the last two years , and especially to him during his year of office . Bro . Officers and brethren , —I scarcely know what to say in response to the very flattering remarks made by the I . P . M ., Bro . Johnson , in proposing the toast of my health . But this will in a great measure

MANCHESTER . —Lodge of Affability ( No . 317 ) . —The installation meeting and St . John ' s festival in connection with this lodge was held at the Freemasons ' Hall , Cooper-street , on Tuesday , the 6 th inst . The ordinary meeting took place on the Thursday previous , a report of same having already appeared in the Freemason , but it was deemed advisable to postpone the installation

until a few days later , and hold an emergency , for the reason that the regular meeting falling on New Year ' s Day it was thought the attendance might be very small , as most of the brethren would prefer the fireside circle at their own homes to that of the lodge room .
