Scales , P . M ., Treas ., then proposed that Bro . 1 . Charles Edmunds should become an honorary member , observing that Bro . Edmunds was one of the oldest members , and had always rendered the greatest service to the lodge of instruction , ever kind and courteous , and always ready to

advise and instruct the younger members who were anxious to improve in the Masonic ritual . This proposition having been carried unanimously , Bro . Edmunds in a few well chosen words very earnestly thanked Bro . Scales and the brethren for their very great kindness to him . The lodge was then closed .

ANNUAL BALL OF THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH LODGE , No . 1182 .

During an existence of about 27 years , the Duke of Edinburgh Lodge , No . 1182 , has done very much to aid Masonic Charitable Institutions in the Province of West Lancashire , and one of the most helpful schemes

in this direction has been an annual ball , organised and carried out by the members . The 23 rd of the series of these pleasant festivals , again in aid of the West Lancashire , Hamer , andAlpass Charities , took place on Thursday evening , the 15 th inst ., at the Adelphi Hotel , Liverpool , where there was a gathering numbering

nearl y 200 ladies and gentlemen . Bro- R . Tunnicliffe , W . M ., was indefatigable in his efforts to make the social function enjoyable and successful , and his efforts were ably seconded by Bro . I . Grace , jun ., Hon . Secretary and Treasurer ; Bros . H , M . Molyneux , P . P . G . D . C , and W \ Rawsthorne , P . M .,

The Duke ot Connaughr , the Grand Duke oi Hesse , the Duke of Fife , and Prince Louisuf Battenberg were present , while in attendance on the Prince were Bros , the Marquis of llrcadalbane ( Lr . rd Steward ) , Lord Carrington ( Lord Chamberlain ) , and other High

officers of State and members of the household . ' 1 Tie diplomatic and general circles were numerously attended , and a large number of presentations , chielly of officers of the Army , Navy , and Reserve Forces , was made . The Honourable Corps of Gentlemen-at-Arms were on duty under the command of Capt . Lord Vernon , and the Yeomen of the Guard also , under that of Bro . Lord Kensington ( Ciptain ) .

During an existence of about 27 years , the Duke of Edinburgh Lodge , No . 1182 , has done very much to aid Masonic Charitable Institutions in the Province of West Lancashire , and one of the most helpful schemes

in this direction has been an annual ball , organised and carried out by the members . The 23 rd of the series of these pleasant festivals , again in aid of the West Lancashire , Hamer , andAlpass Charities , took place on Thursday evening , the 15 th inst ., at the Adelphi Hotel , Liverpool , where there was a gathering numbering

nearl y 200 ladies and gentlemen . Bro- R . Tunnicliffe , W . M ., was indefatigable in his efforts to make the social function enjoyable and successful , and his efforts were ably seconded by Bro . officers of State and members of the household . ' 1 Tie diplomatic and general circles were numerously attended , and a large number of presentations , chielly of officers of the Army , Navy , and Reserve Forces , was made . The Honourable Corps of Gentlemen-at-Arms were on duty under the command of Capt . Lord Vernon , and the Yeomen of the Guard also , under that of Bro . Lord Kensington ( Ciptain ) .
