referring to the removal of the lodge , having been read , it was proposed , seconded , and carried unanimously " That the lodge be removed to the Greyhound Hotel , in the parish of . Hampton Wick , as the Red Lion Hotel , Hampton , the present meeting p lace , is far too small for the requirements of the Hemming Lodge , which now numbers over
50 members . " At six o ' clock the lodge was afterwards re-opened in the presence of the same brethren , and the minutes of the 16 th February last , and the minutes of the special meeting , were read and confirmed . The announcement of the death of Bro . Farwoodwas received
with regret , and a petition on behalf of his widow and children duly recommended and signed . Other minor business in connection with the lodge having been satisfactorily disposed of , the lodge was formally closed , and adjourned till the third Thursday in October next . Refreshment followed labour , and a few toasts were given and responded to .

Two candidates were balloted for and accepted . Bro . Tindale was raised to the Degree of a Master Mason by the W . M ., the l . P . M . giving the traditional history . Bro . T . B . Whytehead presented to the lodge an engraving of Bro . B . Frodsham , the first Master of the lodge held at
the Punch Bowl Inn at York in 1761 , and the First Princi pal of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter at York in 1762 . The name of a candidate for initiation was proposed , and the lodge was closed with "Hearty good wishes . " I he brethren afterwards supped together and spent an agreeable evening .

to the banquet . Upon the removal of the cloth the usual toasts were given . Bro . Woodward responded on behalf of " The Grand Officers . " Having dealt with the toast , he interpolated other matter . He particularly congratulated the lodge upon its sound position . They had that day seen installed into the chair a W . M . who had filled that distinguished position in six other lodges , and whose
varied experience in all matters Masonic would tend to advance the working and welfare of the lodge . Having also spoken of the excellent way in which the l . P . M . had done his work , he concluded his long and eloquent speech by expressing a hope that notwithstanding the work entailed upon him as Secretary of a province numbering 53 lodges and chapters , was necessarily great , he should speedily visit
them again . Bro . Baldwin responded on behalf of "The Provincial Grand Officers " in a neat speech . Bro . Ockenden then proposed "The Health of the W . M . " in flattering terms . He spoke of Bro . Walls ' services as a founder of the lodge , and as one who in the long period of 11 years was scarcely ever absent from its
meetings . Their W . M . was held in high estimation , not only in Craft Masonry but in every working degree in the Metropolis . His services in Middlesex in particular had been exceptionally good . In conclusion he trusted that the bond of friendship which had existed between him and their W . M . for 13 years would be still further cemented . The Worshipful Master then gave the toast of " The
Visitors . " Bro . Forge , in reply , expressed a regret that , from unavoidable circumstances , he had been compelled to resign his membership of the lodge . He had greatly enjoyed his visit that day to the lodge , more especially as he had seen his old friend and fellow worker in other Masonic fields installed into the chair of K . S . with so much impressiveness by
Bro . Ockenden . Bros . Jessett , Eales , and Wheatley also spoke in very laudatory terms of the working , and congratulated the members of the lodge upon having a brother at their head who had done so much for Masonry generally . In giving the toasts of "The Installing Officer , Pa't Masters , and Treasurer and Secretary , " the Worshipful
Master expressed his regret that time prevented him from giving those three important toasts separately . In Bro . Ockenden they had a brother whose Masonic knowledge was of no mean order . He ( the l . P . M . ) was an active member of the Emulation Lodge of Improvement , and he ( the W . M . ) was truly sorry that others did not emulate his bright example . Bro . Ockenden was a founder of No . 1656 ,
Secretary for nine years , a S . W . one year , and , lastly , had brought his career to a climax by serving as W . M . They had all seen how well he had performed his duties , and therefore comment on his ( the VV . M . ' s ) part was superfluous . In conclusion , he remarked that he had restored Bro . Ockenden to Masonic light in No . 1512 in 1 S 74 , and had had the pleasure of his intimacy ever since . In
speaking of Bros . Piller and Chandler as Past Masters , he said that he was pleased to be associated with two such worthy brethren . Of Bro . Featherstone , as Treasurer , and Bro . Peat , as Secretary , he could have said a great deal , had time permitted . They both had done well , especially the latter , whom he hoped to see some day W . M . of that lodge .
Bro . Ockenden , in a modest speech , thanked the W . M . for his kind expressions , and the brethren for the great warmth with which they had received the toast of his health . He was deeply touched by the kindly allusions to his wife , and he should convey to her the substance of the W . M . 's remarks . Although he had left the chair , he should continue to give as much time to the lodge as the exigencies
of his business would permit . Bros . Chandler , Featherstone , and Peat having briefly replied , "The Health of the Officers , " coupled with the names of Bros . Drummond , Dare , Sapsworth , Grant , and Bond terminated the proceedings . Especial thanks were due to Bros . Hunt , Page , Grant , Smith , and Sturgeon for their instrumental and vocal selections .

Great satisfaction and pleasure was evinced by all the members present , at the honour thus offered them by the P . G . M ., and after some discussion ,, a committee , consisting of the officers , was appointed to make arrangements for the departure to
and from the gallant Colonel s residence , and subsequently to make him acquainted therewith . A sum of 20 guineas that had previously been forwarded to Bro . Terry on behalf of the R . VLB . Institution , was , on the motion of Bro . E . VV . Irving , Treas ., P . G . Stwd ., seconded by Bro . T . W . Lean , J . W ., voted from the lodge and Charity funds combined , and there being no further business the lodge
was closed . Subsequently the brethren sat down to one of those capital teas " a la fourchette " for which Mrs . Stopford , the genial hostess , is renowned . After tea the usual preliminary toasts , that of " The W . M ., Bro . Williams , " was proposed in eulogistic terms by Bro . E . W . Irving , who wished him every prosperity in
his travels and a safe journey home . The brethren , to a man , thoroughly reciprocated these sincere wishes , and drank heartily to the toast . A feature in the evening ' s enjoyment was a masterly performance on the violin by Bro . Hume , who played a selection from Trovatore , accompanied by Bro . J . Howarth .
Bro . hred . Gordon , the talented bass singer , also delighted his hearers with " Rocked in the cradle of the deep , " and Bros . C . Turner , N . Dumviile , J . Whittaker , and A . S . Kennell sung a glee . The proceedings , as is usual with members of the musical profession , terminated at an early hour .

Richardson , had to be assisted by Bro . Abbott , P . M . 1030 , P . P . A . G . D . C . " Hearty good wishes " having been given and received , the lodge was closed . The banquet was supplied and put on the tables in a
creditable manner by the worthy host , Bro . T . M . Cairns , J . W . 1166 . After the removal of the cloth the usual patriotic and Masonic toasts were given and received in musical form with extra enthusiasm . Bro . Arensberg , P . P . G . P ., responded for " The P . G . Officers , Present and Past . " The toast of the evening , that of "The W . M ., Bro .
Andrew , " was proposed by the l . P . M . Bro . Richardson , P . M ., in feeling terms said that those brethren who knew Bro . Andrew personally , knew him to be one who had the tenets and principles of Masonry at heart , and that a better or truer man he had not had the pleasure to instal in the chair . Bro . Richardson , P . M ., concluded by asking the brethren to pledge themselves to
support so good a man and true , by drinking to the toast with musical honours , which was done by the musical brethren in " Here ' s to his health in a song . " Bro . Andrew , W . M ., in responding , said that he thanked the brethren for the proud position in which they had placed him , and Bro . Richardson for the toj eulogistic terms in which he had proposed the toast of his health .
He would do his utmost to make the Ardwick Lodge a prosperous and harmonious one during his year of office , and claimed the help of the brethren to that end . As one of the founders of the Iod * e along with Bro . Richardson , I . P . M ., & c , and others , he trusted that its interests would not suffer in his hands , but that he might hand to his successor a pure unsullied , and good record of his
Mastership . Bro . Andrew proposed "The Health of the l . P . M . " in terms not unduly flattering , considering the services rendered and the years he had devoted to our noble Order . The I . P . M ., in acknowledging the toast , and thanking Bro . Andrew , W . M ., for the kind manner in which he had spoken of him , and the brethren for the hearty way in
which they had received the toast of his health , said that he had been a Mason for 25 years , and during that period had been four times W . M . of various lodges , and had been one of the founders of some of them , one being the Ardwick Lodge . As the W . M . of that lodge he had striven to do his duty , and he would do it in the future as in the past , so that he might carry ever with him the " gratifying testimony of a good conscience . "

the Punch Bowl Inn at York in 1761 , and the First Princi pal of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter at York in 1762 . The name of a candidate for initiation was proposed , and the lodge was closed with "Hearty good wishes . " I he brethren afterwards supped together and spent an agreeable evening .

to the banquet . Upon the removal of the cloth the usual toasts were given . Bro . Woodward responded on behalf of " The Grand Officers . " Having dealt with the toast , he interpolated other matter . He particularly congratulated the lodge upon its sound position . They had that day seen installed into the chair a W . M . who had filled that distinguished position in six other lodges , and whose
varied experience in all matters Masonic would tend to advance the working and welfare of the lodge . Having also spoken of the excellent way in which the l . P . M . had done his work , he concluded his long and eloquent speech by expressing a hope that notwithstanding the work entailed upon him as Secretary of a province numbering 53 lodges and chapters , was necessarily great , he should speedily visit
them again . Bro . Baldwin responded on behalf of "The Provincial Grand Officers " in a neat speech . Bro . Ockenden then proposed "The Health of the W . M . " in flattering terms . He spoke of Bro . Walls ' services as a founder of the lodge , and as one who in the long period of 11 years was scarcely ever absent from its
meetings . Their W . M . was held in high estimation , not only in Craft Masonry but in every working degree in the Metropolis . His services in Middlesex in particular had been exceptionally good . In conclusion he trusted that the bond of friendship which had existed between him and their W . M . for 13 years would be still further cemented . The Worshipful Master then gave the toast of " The
Visitors . " Bro . Forge , in reply , expressed a regret that , from unavoidable circumstances , he had been compelled to resign his membership of the lodge . He had greatly enjoyed his visit that day to the lodge , more especially as he had seen his old friend and fellow worker in other Masonic fields installed into the chair of K . S . with so much impressiveness by
Bro . Ockenden . Bros . Jessett , Eales , and Wheatley also spoke in very laudatory terms of the working , and congratulated the members of the lodge upon having a brother at their head who had done so much for Masonry generally . In giving the toasts of "The Installing Officer , Pa't Masters , and Treasurer and Secretary , " the Worshipful
Master expressed his regret that time prevented him from giving those three important toasts separately . In Bro . Ockenden they had a brother whose Masonic knowledge was of no mean order . He ( the l . P . M . ) was an active member of the Emulation Lodge of Improvement , and he ( the W . M . ) was truly sorry that others did not emulate his bright example . Bro . Ockenden was a founder of No . 1656 ,
Secretary for nine years , a S . W . one year , and , lastly , had brought his career to a climax by serving as W . M . They had all seen how well he had performed his duties , and therefore comment on his ( the VV . M . ' s ) part was superfluous . In conclusion , he remarked that he had restored Bro . Ockenden to Masonic light in No . 1512 in 1 S 74 , and had had the pleasure of his intimacy ever since . In
speaking of Bros . Piller and Chandler as Past Masters , he said that he was pleased to be associated with two such worthy brethren . Of Bro . Featherstone , as Treasurer , and Bro . Peat , as Secretary , he could have said a great deal , had time permitted . They both had done well , especially the latter , whom he hoped to see some day W . M . of that lodge .
Bro . Ockenden , in a modest speech , thanked the W . M . for his kind expressions , and the brethren for the great warmth with which they had received the toast of his health . He was deeply touched by the kindly allusions to his wife , and he should convey to her the substance of the W . M . 's remarks . Although he had left the chair , he should continue to give as much time to the lodge as the exigencies
of his business would permit . Bros . Chandler , Featherstone , and Peat having briefly replied , "The Health of the Officers , " coupled with the names of Bros . Drummond , Dare , Sapsworth , Grant , and Bond terminated the proceedings . Especial thanks were due to Bros . Hunt , Page , Grant , Smith , and Sturgeon for their instrumental and vocal selections .

Great satisfaction and pleasure was evinced by all the members present , at the honour thus offered them by the P . G . M ., and after some discussion ,, a committee , consisting of the officers , was appointed to make arrangements for the departure to
and from the gallant Colonel s residence , and subsequently to make him acquainted therewith . A sum of 20 guineas that had previously been forwarded to Bro . Terry on behalf of the R . VLB . Institution , was , on the motion of Bro . E . VV . Irving , Treas ., P . G . Stwd ., seconded by Bro . T . W . Lean , J . W ., voted from the lodge and Charity funds combined , and there being no further business the lodge
was closed . Subsequently the brethren sat down to one of those capital teas " a la fourchette " for which Mrs . Stopford , the genial hostess , is renowned . After tea the usual preliminary toasts , that of " The W . M ., Bro . Williams , " was proposed in eulogistic terms by Bro . E . W . Irving , who wished him every prosperity in
his travels and a safe journey home . The brethren , to a man , thoroughly reciprocated these sincere wishes , and drank heartily to the toast . A feature in the evening ' s enjoyment was a masterly performance on the violin by Bro . Hume , who played a selection from Trovatore , accompanied by Bro . J . Howarth .
Bro . hred . Gordon , the talented bass singer , also delighted his hearers with " Rocked in the cradle of the deep , " and Bros . C . Turner , N . Dumviile , J . Whittaker , and A . S . Kennell sung a glee . The proceedings , as is usual with members of the musical profession , terminated at an early hour .

After the removal of the cloth the usual patriotic and Masonic toasts were given and received in musical form with extra enthusiasm . Bro . Arensberg , P . P . G . P ., responded for " The P . G . Officers , Present and Past . " The toast of the evening , that of "The W . M ., Bro .
Andrew , " was proposed by the l . P . M . Bro . Richardson , P . M ., in feeling terms said that those brethren who knew Bro . Andrew personally , knew him to be one who had the tenets and principles of Masonry at heart , and that a better or truer man he had not had the pleasure to instal in the chair . Bro . Richardson , P . M ., concluded by asking the brethren to pledge themselves to
support so good a man and true , by drinking to the toast with musical honours , which was done by the musical brethren in " Here ' s to his health in a song . " Bro . Andrew , W . M ., in responding , said that he thanked the brethren for the proud position in which they had placed him , and Bro . Richardson for the toj eulogistic terms in which he had proposed the toast of his health .
He would do his utmost to make the Ardwick Lodge a prosperous and harmonious one during his year of office , and claimed the help of the brethren to that end . As one of the founders of the Iod * e along with Bro . Richardson , I . P . M ., & c , and others , he trusted that its interests would not suffer in his hands , but that he might hand to his successor a pure unsullied , and good record of his
Mastership . Bro . Andrew proposed "The Health of the l . P . M . " in terms not unduly flattering , considering the services rendered and the years he had devoted to our noble Order . The I . P . M ., in acknowledging the toast , and thanking Bro . Andrew , W . M ., for the kind manner in which he had spoken of him , and the brethren for the hearty way in
which they had received the toast of his health , said that he had been a Mason for 25 years , and during that period had been four times W . M . of various lodges , and had been one of the founders of some of them , one being the Ardwick Lodge . As the W . M . of that lodge he had striven to do his duty , and he would do it in the future as in the past , so that he might carry ever with him the " gratifying testimony of a good conscience . "
