A Special Court of Governors and subscribers cf the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys will be held at Freemasons' Hall , to-morrow ( Saturday ) afternoon , at 5 p . m ., when the business to be discussed will relate to the case of the boy William Gideon Motion . Bro . the Marquis of Hartington , M . P ., addressed a large political gathering at the Drill Hall , Carlisle , on Wednesday evening .

The Court of Common Council have made a donation of 25 guineas to the Parkes Museum , Margaretstreet , to assist in its work of practical teaching and demonstrating sanitary science . Bro . Lord Herschell presided on Wednesday at a meeting of the Finance Committee of the Imperial Institute . Bro . Sir F . Abel , C . B ., Secretary , and Bro . Sir J . R . Somers Vine , Assistant Secretary , were in attendance .

Bro . R . J . Voisey , P . M ., P . Z ., Sec . 1963 , & c , will work the Sixth Section ( First Lecture ) , when the 15 Sections are rehearsed , ai the Rose Lodge of Instruction , at the Stirling Castle , Camberwell , on the 29 th inst . Bros . Lord Balfour of Burleigh , Hugh C . E . Childers , M . P ., and F . W . McLean , M . P ., were among the members who attended the meeting of the Royal Commission on Market Rights and Tolls on the 15 th instant .

The Blackburn Town Council met on Wednesday , and voted the sum of £ 3000 towards the reception of the Piince and Princess of Wales on the 9 th May on the occasion of their visit to lay the foundation stone of a new Technical School .

The 18 th annual grand ball in aid of the funds of the Metropolitan and City Police Orphanage , of which her Majesty the Queen is Patron , will take place at the Cannon-street Hotel , on the 19 th April next , under the distinguished patronage of Bro . the Lord Mayor , the Lady Mayoress , Bros . Sheriffs Davies and Higgs , and Brcs . Under-Shcriffs Rose-Innes and Beard .

Bros . Lord Halsbury ( Lord Chancellor ) . Lord Ashbourne ( Lord Chancellor of Ireland ) , Lord George Hamilton , and Sir M . E . Hicks-Beach , Bart ., attended the Cabinet Council at the Foreign Office on the 15 th inst . When the Council was over , Bro . Lord Ashbourne transacted business at ! he Irish Office and then left for Dublin by the mail train from Euston terminus .

Aldworth , of the county of Cork , the only lady Freemason ever enrolled , has had , with his wife , Lady Mary Aldworth , sister of the Earl of Bandon , an audience at Stockholm with the King ot Sweden , who is himself a Freemason . The King was presented with a memoir of Mrs . Aldworth .

Lord Stanley of Preston , the newly-appointed Governor-General of Canada , was the principal guest at the annual banquet at Willis ' s Rooms , on Wednesday , of the Imperial Federation League , Bros . Sir Charles Mills , Sir Charles Warren , Sir Henry Doulton , Story-Maskelyne , M . P ., and ethers being among the principal guests .

Bros , the Earl of Milltown , the Earl of Onslow , Lord Balfour of Builcigh , and the Earl of Hopetoun are zmorg the membtis of the House of Lords who have been rcminaled lo serve on the Select Committee to enquire into the powers possessed by Pcor Law Guardians , and their adequacy to cope with distress in London and other populous places .

The Subscribers' List ? cf the Girls' and Boys ' S . hco's for the current year have been issued . They appear to contain the usual necessary information about votes , and the pait culars have evidently been compiled with great care . The Girls' School List is embellished with two illustrations of the School at St . John's Hill , and the building erected in 1795 in St . George ' s Fields by the Institution .

The brethren of Sf . Kew Lodge , at Weston . super-Mare , as a suitable memorial to their late Chaplain , Bro . the Rev . R . Duckworth , have resolved to endow that office with a vtte for the Royal Masonic Insliturion for Boys , considering it appropriate to the memory of one who had devoted his life to education . Such endowment has now been duly recorded , and the vote is registered as "St . Kew , 1222 , in memoriam , Rev . R . Duckworth , Chaplrin , i 8 S 4 and 1885 . "

An artisticall y designed and magnificentl y illuminated address has been prepared for the Worshi pful Masters , officers , and brethren of the Scarborough and Filey Lodges fur presentation to their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Wales , congratulating them

Four folio editions of Shakespeare were among the books put up to auction on the 15 th inst . at the sale of the Aylesford Library , and realLeJ high prices . The first b y Isaac Jaggaid and Edward Blount , 1623 , realised £ 200 , and the second , printed by T . Cotes for R . Allot ,

1632 , was knecked down to Mr . Natlah for Bro . Henry Irving for £ 140 . This latter had been in the possession of Lewis Theobald , editor of Shakespeare , and at his death passed into the hands of Osborne , the bookseller , who presented it to Dr . Samuel Johnson . The third copy , of 1664 , was secured by Mr . Quaritch for £ 93 , and the " fourth , by Drceshont , 16 S 5 , by Mr . Bain for £ 20 . The second folio

contained many MS . notes by Theobald and Dr . Johnson .
