T . B . Tomlinson . asisted by Comps . Richard Jackson , H . ; and George Fred . Carr , J . The ceremony was conducted by Comp . Davis Richards Glover in a most efficient manner . The companions below Ihe rank of Principals being re-admitted to the chapter , the salutation

was performed according to ancient custom . The officers were then invested as follows : Comps . Harry Marsh , Scribe E . ; James Milnes , Scribe N . ; James Millington P . S . ; J- A . where supper was served , after which the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured . In proposing the toast of " The Grand Officers , Present and Past , " Comp . Jackson alluded in feeling terms to the cause of the absence of the Grand Superintendent , Comp . Thomas William Tew , whose health was still in a precarious condition , also to the unavoidable absence of Comp . Henry Smith , Prov . Grand H ., o . ving to temporary

indisposition . The toast was responded to by Comps . Tanner , Prov . Grand J . ; Steward , Pruv . Grand Reg . ; and Herbert G . L . Green , Prov . Grand Scribe E . The toast of the evening , that of "The Three Principals , " was fittingly proposed by Comp . J . D . Kay , P . Z ., the senior member of the chapter , who referred to the long friendship and Masonic connection which had existed

between himself and the newly-installed First Principal in both Craft and Royal Arch Masonry , extending over a period of 30 years . Comp . Jackson , in his reply , expressed his sense of the honour conferred upon him by the companionsof the chapter in placing him in that position , and while pointing out the numerous claims which his exalted position in the Craft and other public engagements made upon his ti-ne , pledged

himself that no personal consideration would induce him to negket the duties of his new office , and that the companions might depend that any engagement he accepted would be faithfully performed . He also alluded to the recent election of Treasurer in Grand Lodge , wf ich he believed would give general satisfaction throughout the Province , and touched upon his acceptance of Chairmanship at the coming Festival ot the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , appealing with

every confidence to the province which they have always given to that great Masonic Charity . Concluding with the hope that Ihe unity . and harmony existing in the province , which had elevated it to a very high position in the esteem of Grand Lodge | and the Craft throughout the country , would he always maintained to the advantage of the individual lodges and chapters , and Ihe cause which they all bved so well .

Ihe other Principals also fittingly responded . The toast of "The Installing Principal" was proposed by Comp . Jackson , who paid a high tribute to Comp . D . R . Glover for the impressive manner in which the ceremony had been performed , and for the valuable services which he had ever rendered to the chapter . Comp . Glover suitably responded . After the toast of "The Retiring Z ., " to which Comp .

T . 11 , Tomlinson suitabl y replied , thc toist of "The Visiting Principals" was honoured and responded to by Comps . Charles Middleton , Z . 304 ; C A . Phillips , P . Z . . Vifij and Thos . Thorp , Z . 1042 ; the latter of whom took the opportunity of inviting the Provincial Grand Chapter to hold its next meeting in Leeds under the banner "' Fxcelsior Chapter . These weie qualified through lodges in the London district ( 23 ) , and at Malton , Reading , Liverpool ( 4 ) , Sunderland , Dover , Newtown ( Mont . ) , Newbury , Plymouth ( 2 ) , Mottram , Nottingham , Burton-on-Trtnt , Devonport , Birkenhead , and

Carnarvon . In the course ot a lour hours' sitting six of these were deferred and three dismissed ; the remainder were relieved with a total of £ 705 . This amount was composed of one recommendation to Grand Lodge fur £ 50 ; two to the Grand Master of £ 40 each , and nine of ^ , 30 each . There were 11 grants of £ ni each , seven ul £ 10 each , and two of £ 5 each . _ . - «

Jackson alluded in feeling terms to the cause of the absence of the Grand Superintendent , Comp . Thomas William Tew , whose health was still in a precarious condition , also to the unavoidable absence of Comp . Henry Smith , Prov . Grand H ., o . ving to temporary

The toast of the evening , that of "The Three Principals , " was fittingly proposed by Comp . J . D . Kay , P . Z ., the senior member of the chapter , who referred to the long friendship and Masonic connection which had existed

between himself and the newly-installed First Principal in both Craft and Royal Arch Masonry , extending over a period of 30 years . Comp . Jackson , in his reply , expressed his sense of the honour conferred upon him by the companionsof the chapter in placing him in that position , and while pointing out the numerous claims which his exalted position in the Craft and other public engagements made upon his ti-ne , pledged

himself that no personal consideration would induce him to negket the duties of his new office , and that the companions might depend that any engagement he accepted would be faithfully performed . He also alluded to the recent election of Treasurer in Grand Lodge , wf ich he believed would give general satisfaction throughout the Province , and touched upon his acceptance of Chairmanship at the coming Festival ot the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , appealing with

every confidence to the province which they have always given to that great Masonic Charity . Concluding with the hope that Ihe unity . and harmony existing in the province , which had elevated it to a very high position in the esteem of Grand Lodge | and the Craft throughout the country , would he always maintained to the advantage of the individual lodges and chapters , and Ihe cause which they all bved so well .

Ihe other Principals also fittingly responded . The toast of "The Installing Principal" was proposed by Comp . Jackson , who paid a high tribute to Comp . D . R . Glover for the impressive manner in which the ceremony had been performed , and for the valuable services which he had ever rendered to the chapter . Comp . Glover suitably responded . After the toast of "The Retiring Z ., " to which Comp .

These weie qualified through lodges in the London district ( 23 ) , and at Malton , Reading , Liverpool ( 4 ) , Sunderland , Dover , Newtown ( Mont . ) , Newbury , Plymouth ( 2 ) , Mottram , Nottingham , Burton-on-Trtnt , Devonport , Birkenhead , and

Carnarvon . In the course ot a lour hours' sitting six of these were deferred and three dismissed ; the remainder were relieved with a total of £ 705 . This amount was composed of one recommendation to Grand Lodge fur £ 50 ; two to the Grand Master of £ 40 each , and nine of ^ , 30 each .
