Bro . J . S . Walton , W . M ., presided , and the vice-chairs were taken by Bros . G . J . Robinson , P . M ., S . W ., and C Hodgson , J . W . The W . M . then proposed " Her Most Gracious Majesty the Queen and the Craft , " which was heartily drunk , the brethren all joining in singing the National Anthem . The W . M . then gave "H . R . H . the Prince of VVales , M . W . Grand Master of England . " The W . M . then submitted "The Right Hon . the Earl of Lathom , M . W . Pro

Grand Master ; the R . W . the Earl of Mount Edgcumbe , R . W . Deputy Grand Master ; and the rest of the Grand Officers , Present and Past . " Ihey all knew that H . R . H . the Prince of Wales had attended to his duties to the entire satisfaction of every member of the Craft . With regard to the other Grand Lodge Ofiicers , they paid great attention to their duties . It was his pleasure to couple with the toast the name of a worthy provincial officer , viz ., Bro . Jos . Todd , P . M ., G . Std . Br . Eng . After the toast had been drunk with full Masonic honours ,

Bro . Todd , who was applauded , said he felt very highly the honour they had done him by coupling his name with so important a toast . It had been his privilege to have been present at many meetings of the Anchor Lodge , but he had never been present at a more auspicious gathering . He could assure them that the position of a Grand Officer was not by any means an ornamental office , as there was a great deal of

work to do . He complimented the brethren of the Anchor Lodge upon their choice of a Worshipful Master for the ensuing year , as he had known Bro . Walton for a great number of years . He hoped that he might have the pleasure of being with them during the Mastership of Dr . Walton and on many future occasions . He thanked them heartily for the capital reception they had given him .

Bro . Charles Tweedy , P . M ., proposed " The R , W . the Marquis ot Zetland , Provincial Grand Master of North and East Yorkshire , and the Provincial Grand Ofiicers , Present and Past . " The Marquis of Zetland had set a good example to every Freemason in the province . With the toast he had pleasure in coupling the name of Bro . C . Palliser , P . M ., P . P . G . Supt . of Wks ., who was one of the founders of the Anchor Lodge .

After the usual Masonic honours had been accorded , Bro . C . Palliser replied , and said they knew that the Marquis of Zetland was the right man in the right place , and he hoped they would all have the pleasure of serving under him for many years to come . He congratulated their Worshipful Master on his being installed VV . M . for the second time , and he wished him a prosperous year of olli : e . He had great pleasure in welcoming their Installing Master , liro . Todd , who had taken a most active part in Masonry ever since he had known him . They met

four times a year , and he was always cheerful and aclive in discharging his Masonic duties . Bro . Tcdd then proposed "The VV . M . of Anchor Lodge , and prosperity to the Lod ^ e . " It was a most important toast , and he felt greatly the privilege of being selected to propose it . He had the pleasure of knowing Uro . Walton , who formerly lived in the City of York , and since he had come to reside at Northallerton he had still kept up the acquaintance . Therefore nothing had ever given him more pleasure than

to accept their invitation to Northallerton for the purpose of installing their W . M . It was most fitting that Dr . Walton , who hid been the lirst Master of the Anchor Lodge , should be again its Master on its 25 th birthday . It seemed rather strange , too , that it was exactly 25 years since lu , vvas Master of the York L-idgc , and Uro . Dr . Walton Masterof the Anchor Lodge , therefore , he had the greatest sympathy with him , seeing t ' -iat they v / ere amongst the oldest Freemasons in the province . He was certain that the interests of the lodye were safe under Uro . Dr . Walton ' s guidance , and

that the brethren would have a prosperous year . He regretted that his dear old friend , one of the founders of the lodge , Bro . Chas . Waijtell , was absent , and especially they regretted the cause of that absence j but he hoped that his indisposition would only be t-. inpurary , and that the next time he met them he would have pleasure in seeing Bo . Waistell , P . M ., present with them . He then gave the toast , which was duly honoured . The Worshipful Master returned ^ thanks , and hoped the good wishes of Bro . I ' odd would be fulfilled to the letter . If he had studied his personal comfort then he would not have accepted the high position he then occupied , but , considering the fact that it

H . the Prince of VVales , M .
