The chapter was then [ closed , and an excellent banquet partaken of . The numerous toasts were given in happy terms by the M . E . Z . During the evening a most enjoyable and varied programme of music , under the direction of Comp . W . Wright , P . Z ., P . P . G . O ., was provided , and gave universal satisfaction , the artistes being Mesdames Lena Seymour , Jessie Hotine , Bros . R . Evans , G . De Pledge , and Mr . Will Ballard . The M . E . Z . is to be congratulated on the success that attended the proceedings .

Warrant Officers' Chapter , No . 2346 . The regular convocation of the above chapter was held at Freemasons' Hall , Great Oueen-street , W . C , on Monday , the 13 th inst ., when there were present Comps . A . Molony , M . E . Z . j C . A . Pugh , H . j R . Jennings , P . Z ., Treas . : M . A . Mclnerny , P . Z ., Scribe E .: W . A . The business was to ballot for and if approved , to e xalt Bro . Frank S . Parton , 2346 . The ballot proved unanimous in his favour , and he being in attendance , was duly exalted by Comp . BRO . P . C . DUTT , DEP . D . G . M . BENGAL . Bro . Prosonno Ccomar Dutt , whose portrait is now added lo our gallery of Masters , and whose difficulties in obtaining admission into our Orc ' er form the subject of one of our leading articles , was initiated in the Anchor and Hone Lodge , No . 234 , on the 13 th June , 1872 , and having been passed and i . iised , was on the ist September appointed Secretary . On the 26 th December following , the collar

of J . W . was conferred upon him , and on the 12 th December , 18 73 , he was installed W . M . He was installed for the second time on the 1 Sth December , 1874 , and for the third and fourth times in December , 18 7 6 , and 1882 respectively . In October , 1876 , he was presented with a Past Master ' s jewel and a full suit of regalia in recognition of his services to the lodge in connection with the admission of his countrymen into Freemasonry , and in December , 188 7 , his full length

lifesize portrait in oils , which had been subscribed for by the members of his lodge , was presented to the District Grand Lodge of Bengal , and accepted on its behalf by the District Grand Master . In District Grand Lodge Bro . Dutt has served as D . G . Std . Br . in 18 74 , D . A . G . D . C . in 1875 , D . G . D . C . in 1882 , and D . J . G . W . in 1888 , and last year he was appointed by patent Dep . D . G . M . Bro . M ., officers , and brethren were most impressively delivered by Bro . W . Vincent , P . A . G . D . C . The W . M . stated that he proposed serving as Steward for the R . M . I , for Boys at the next festival and a grant was voted out of the lodge funds .

The brethren then adjourned to supper in the Crown Room , where a most enj > yable evening was passed , concluding with the usual toasts , That of " 1 he Visitors " being responded to by Bros . Maitland , P . M . of Ceylon , and Henry Sadler , W . M . of the New Era Lodge . Bro . Capt . Hearn stated that he would be wil ing to represent the lodge at the Mark Benevolent Festival . It was arranged to bring his kind offer before the lodge at the nex ** . meeting ; several ccntributions being promised on the sp it . The Tyler ' s least terminated the proceedings .

The lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes nf the last meetinsf were read and cenfirmed . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Neighbour being the candidate . Bins . Ingram and Neighbour answered the questions leading to the Second Di gree . Bro . Thomas gave the three addresses . N ., for the excellent and efficient manner in which

they had carried out the ( holies of their respective oilices . Comp . Milbourn read a letter fiom the G . Sec , expressing his approval of the removal of the chapter to the New Cross House , and the altering of the day of meeting from Friday to Tuesday The whole of the visitors having expressed their desire to become members of the chapter , the same was put to the vote and unanimously agreed to , and after " Hearty good wishes , " the chapter was closed .

'Ihe very advantageous and central position of the place of meeting of 1 his chapter ot instruction , midway between thc New Cress Stations of the London Brighton and South Coast and the South-Eastern Railways , together with ( rams and 'busses to all parts of the Metropolis , and the large number of companions who have expressed a desire to be placed on its roll of members will , it is considered , not only supply a long felt want , but will become a rallying point for Royal Arch Freemasons in this part of London .

D . of England , and in 1 S 95 had the honour of installing

Bro . Sir John Edge as Dist . G . M . M . Bengal . He is also a Royal Ark Mariner and Past W . C . N , of that Degree ; member of Grand Master ' s Council , No . 1 , Royal and Select Masters ; a member and Past Grand Officer in the Allied Degrees ; and Past Grand Visitor in the Order of the Secret Monitor . Lastly , he is a Vice-President of the Bengal Masonic Fund of Benevolence and a Life Governor and member of the Managing Committee of the Bengal Masonic Educational Association .

Ubique Lodge , No . 411 . The installation meeting of this lodge was held at the Criterion Restaurant , Piccadilly , on Thursday , the iGth inst . The chair was taken by Bro . Major A . Hansard , R . A ., P . M ., who , on the result e f the ballot beirg declared , proceeded to advance Bros * . Major P . MacMahon , R . A ., F . R . S ., and Capt . VV . Barlow , R . A . At the request of the acting W . M . the chair was then taken by Bro . J . S . Tamburin' , G . S ., who perfoimed , in most excellent style , the ceremony of installing Bro . H . Thomson Lyon , P . M ., officers , and brethren were most impressively delivered by Bro . W . Vincent , P . A . G . D . C . The W . M . stated that he proposed serving as Steward for the R . M . I , for Boys at the next festival and a grant was voted out of the lodge funds .

The brethren then adjourned to supper in the Crown Room , where a most enj > yable evening was passed , concluding with the usual toasts , That of " 1 he Visitors " being responded to by Bros . Maitland , P . M . of Ceylon , and Henry Sadler , W . M . of the New Era Lodge . Bro . Capt . Hearn stated that he would be wil ing to represent the lodge at the Mark Benevolent Festival . It was arranged to bring his kind offer before the lodge at the nex ** . meeting ; several ccntributions being promised on the sp it . The Tyler ' s least terminated the proceedings .

The lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes nf the last meetinsf were read and cenfirmed . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Neighbour being the candidate . Bins . Ingram and Neighbour answered the questions leading to the Second Di gree . Bro . Thomas gave the three addresses . I he 2 nd Section of the First Lecture was woiktd by the Pitceptor , assisted by the brethren . Bro . Thwaites was elected W . M . for the next meeting . The lodge was opened in the Second Degree , and the ceremony cf passing was rehearsed , the questions having been previously answeied . N ., for the excellent and efficient manner in which

they had carried out the ( holies of their respective oilices . Comp . Milbourn read a letter fiom the G . Sec , expressing his approval of the removal of the chapter to the New Cross House , and the altering of the day of meeting from Friday to Tuesday The whole of the visitors having expressed their desire to become members of the chapter , the same was put to the vote and unanimously agreed to , and after " Hearty good wishes , " the chapter was closed .

'Ihe very advantageous and central position of the place of meeting of 1 his chapter ot instruction , midway between thc New Cress Stations of the London Brighton and South Coast and the South-Eastern Railways , together with ( rams and 'busses to all parts of the Metropolis , and the large number of companions who have expressed a desire to be placed on its roll of members will , it is considered , not only supply a long felt want , but will become a rallying point for Royal Arch Freemasons in this part of London .
