It proved unanimous in the favour of each of the candidates . Bro . Charles Bland was examined and entrusted , and afterwards raised to the Third Degree by the acting I . P . M ., Bro . John J . Thomas , P . G . Std . Br ., in a most admirable and impressiva manner . It isa pleasing thing when a Grand Officer takes an active part in the working of a lodge . Bro . Thomas has shown a good example , which other Grand Officers might profitably follow . The I . P . M . vacated the chair , and the W . M . passed Bro .
Harry Day to the Degree of F . C . Messrs . Coheh and Davies were ably initiated into Freemasonry by the W . M ., who afterwards delivered the charge to the newly-made brethren . The Secretary read letters from the Lord Mayor elect , Bro . Alderman Newton , also a later letter from him as Lord Mayor , expressing that his numerous important duties made it impossible for him to attend that evening . Letters were read from Bro . Imre Kiralfy , P . D . G . D . C , and many other Grand Officers , regretting that previous engagements prevented their accepting the invitation of the lodge . Several brethren for joining were proposed . After " Hearty good wishes " from the visitors , the lodge was closed .
After a well-served banquet the W . M . proposed " The Queen and the Craft . M ., the Earl of Warwick ; and the rest of the Officers of Grand Lodge , Present and Past . " He said how serviceable they always proved themselves , that the G . ready to give counsel and assistance when called upon by the brethren . He coupled this toast with the name of their well-known Bro . John J . Thomas , of whose admirable working and Masonic experience they ( the brethren ) had a good sample that evening . He hoped the brethren would give good " lire , " to evince to their very distinguished Bro . J . J . Thomas , P . G . Std . Br ., the esteem and affection in which he was held by the brethren of the lodge .
Bro . Thomas replied . He spoke in terms of praise of several of the principal G . Officers , mentioning some of the most important by name ; how , for his part , he had ever been ready to render any assistance in his power that might serve to uphold their noble Order ; that on behalf of his fellow G . Officers and himself he thanked the brethren for their kind approbation . Bro . Thomas then proposed " The Health of the W . M . " He spoke of the interest he had always taken in the lodge . Jt augured well that under the important influencs
of the Lord Mayor , the lodge should progress in the present and have a brilliant prospect for the future . The W . M . replied . He spoke of the kind , generous assistance he had received at the hands of all the brethren . As they well knew , the Lord May 6 r , Alderman Newton , chairman of Harrod ' s Stores , was the first W . M . of the lodge , which now nunbered 41 members . This was indeed very good for a young Iodge only two years old . He , the VV . M ., heartily thanked the brethren for their support and sympathy . The VV . M . then announced the result of the collection , which he was pleased to say amounted to L 10 .
The W . M . next gave "The I . P . M . and the acting I . P . M . " The I . P . M . is the Lord Mayor , whose i . iportant duties precluded his being amongst the brethren of the lodge this evening . His Deputy , on whom one could so well rely , was their rruch valued and esteemed friend Bro . J . J . Thomas ; no commendation of him was required at his hands , their worthy brother was too well-known by all . The W . M . felt confident the brethren would heartily respond to the toast .
The acting I . P . M . replied . He said he would not needlessly take up their time by duelling on the success of the I . P . M ., the Lord Mayor . He , for lis own part , and he felt the brethren would echo his sentiments , and trusted the Lord Mayor would have a happy year of office whilst presiding over the affairs of the great City of London . The toast of "The Initiates , Bros . Cohen and Davies , " was then given by the W . M . He spoke kindly to them of the present and future duties they owed to the lodge and the Craft in general . He assured them that they would find in Freemasonry both a pleasure and a . comfort ; their progress wo uld be gradual , step by step , towards perfection in the Craft .
A patriotic poem was then recited by Bro . Prof . F . VV . Dri ver , entitled " Ready , aye , ready , " which was received with great applause . Evans , Gregory , and Williams , Preceptor 26 S 6 .

The Tyler ' s toast brought the proceedings to a close .

The lodge was opened by theW . M . and the minutes of last meeting read and confirmed . A ballot was taken for . Messrs . Laurie , Arthur Cohen , and Owen Emlyn Davies .
" He said the sympathy of the Queen was extended to all her brave troops , and that in heart and soul she was the dearly loved mother of her loyal and devoted people . " God save the Queen " was sung as solo and chorus . In proposing "the M . W . G . M ., H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , K . G ., " the VV . M . called attention to the interest he had always shown in the affairs of the Craft . Not only in Masonry , but in all grades of society , his influence for good was felt by one
and all . Song— " God Bless the Prince of Wales . " The W . M . next submitted " The M . W . Pro G . M ., Earl Amherst ; the R . W . Dep . G . M ., the Earl of Warwick ; and the rest of the Officers of Grand Lodge , Present and Past . " He said how serviceable they always proved themselves , that the G . Officers , not only by their rank and position upheld the dignity of the Craft , but thev were ever
ready to give counsel and assistance when called upon by the brethren .
The iniliates replied , each with a few appropriate words . The toast ot " Our Brethren in South Africa" was feelingly given by the J . W . Then "The Visitors , " responded to by Bros . Evans , Gregory , and Williams , Preceptor 26 S 6 .

Bonham thanked the brethren for electing him as a j lining m : mber . The musical arrangements were most elTec : ively c arried out by the talented Brd Wm . Windsor , Organist of the lodge . The Tyler ' s toast brought the proceedings to a close .
