FREEMASONS' CALENDAR . — "The Cosmopolitan Masonic Calendar , Diary , and Pocket-book " for the year 1889 , has just been issued from the office of Bro . George Kenning , Great Queen-street , London . It contains lists of lodges , chapters / preceptories , conclaves , colleges , and Grand Councils , with the names of officers and particulars of every Grand Masonic body throughout the world . The book is neatly got up , and forms a comprehensive Masonic book of reference . —Newcastle Daily Journal .

Bro . Major-General Sir Charles Warren , who at -present is attached to the head-quarters of the Royal Engineers , is not _ expected to take over the command oi he Shorncliffe Division until March .

ON-SEA . —Adam ' s Lodge ( No . 6 ) . —The installation meeting of this old Iodge ( which is the oldest in tbe province ) was held on Tuesday , the Sth instant , at the Britannia Hotel , Mile Town , The brethren assembled , and the lodge vvas opened by the W . M ., Bro . Thomas H . Smith . The minutes of the last meeting vvere read and confirmed . Bro . Smith vacated the chair in

favour of Bro . Alexander Spears , P . G . D . and P . P . S . G . W ., to perform the installation ceremony , as he had previously done for several years . Bro . John Bagshaw , P . M . and P . P . Asst . G . Sec , presented the W . M . elect , Bro . James Tower , P . P . G . M . O ., to Bro . Spears , to receive at his hands the benefit of installation , and the customary declaration having been made , all the brethren below the

rank of Installed Masters retired . A Board of Installed Masters vvas then formed , the VV . M . elect was duly obligated and the secrets communicated , and Bro . Thomas Smith invested as I . P . M . ready to please everyone ) , and he , vvith his respected mother , succeeded in giving such satisfation as to cause the brethren to move a cordial vote of thanks to them both . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts vvere given and responded to . Before this agreeable evening was brought to

a close , the W . M . expressed his sincere regret at the absence of several brethren through illness , among whom vvas Bro . E . J . Penney , P . M ., P . P . J . G . W ., when it was resolved that a letter should be sent expressing the sympathy of the brethren vvith them j and after the Tyler ' s toast the brethren separated .

A splendid banquet was served up under the personal superintendence of Bro . Green ( who , as usual , was ever

ready to please everyone ) , and he , vvith his respected mother , succeeded in giving such satisfation as to cause the brethren to move a cordial vote of thanks to them both . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts vvere given and responded to . Before this agreeable evening was brought to

a close , the W . M . expressed his sincere regret at the absence of several brethren through illness , among whom vvas Bro . E . J . Penney , P . M ., P . P . J . G . W ., when it was resolved that a letter should be sent expressing the sympathy of the brethren vvith them j and after the Tyler ' s toast the brethren separated .
