In the report of the consecration of the West Ham Abbey Lodge , No . 2291 , in our last week ' s issue , vve inadvertantly gave the wiong number of the lodge of which the esteemed first W . M ., Bro . James Boulton , is a P . M . We gave it as No . 1066 , it should have been No . 1056 . Bro . Boulton is also a Past Master of No . 28 , and

is so well known among the brethren of the Metropolitan district , and has worked so hard for the formation of the West Ham Abbey Lodge , that we gladly correct the error above alluded to . Lord Loughborough , son and heir of the Earl of Rosslyn , is dangerously ill , at Stamford . Lady Rosslyn ,

who was in London vvith her husband , has left town , in company with Sir Andrew Clark , to see her son . A marriage has been arranged , and will take place on Tuesday , February 12 th , between Bro . H . B . Marshall , jun ., only child of Bro . H . B . Marshall , J . P ., C . C , and Miss Laura Siggs , daughter of Mr . George Siggs , of Redcross-street , Borough .

The first annual ball of the Barnato Lodge , No . 2265 , will be held at the Hotel Metropole , Whitehall Rooms , on Thursday , 14 th February next . By special dispensation , brethren are to appear in Masonic Craft clothing . On Monday afternoon , the Empress Frederick of Germany , accompanied by his Excellency the German Ambassador , visited the German Hospital at Dalston , and after having been conducted over the various wards , vvas pleased to express her satisfaction with the arrangements , and promised to present a portrait of the late Emperor Frederick to the institution .

Lord Wantage has presented between 80 and go of the labourers employed on his home farms at Ardington and Lockinge vvith £ 2 each , as a bonus on the profits made on them during the year ending Michaelmas last . of Bishopsgate , took place at the Bishopsgate Schoolroom , St . Botolph ' s Churchyard , on Monday , under the presidency of Bro . the Lord Mayor , when Bro . Ex-Sheriff Major Davies and Mr . Henry Clarke were nominated . The poll took place on Tuesday , with the result that Bro . Ex-Sheriff Davies was elected by 50 S votes to 419 cast for Mr . Clarke .

The funeral of the late Bro . J . Whitehead , wbo was a P . M . of St . Luke ' s Lodge , P . Z . of St . Luke ' s Royal Arch Chapter , and who for nearly 40 years was a member of the Royal Albert Court of Foresters , No . 2332 , of which he was a P . C . R ., took place on Saturday afternoon , and was attended by numerous friends and

representatives of the various Orders to which he belonged . Leaving his late residence , Cobbold-street , the funeral cortege , preceded by the Freemasons and Foresters , walked to the Cemetery , where the funeral service was impressively read by the Rev . W . J . Garrould , of St . Michael's . Two wreaths vvere on the coffin , one from St . Luke ' s Lodge , and one from Mr . Kerry and family .

ROYAL PRINCESS ' S THEATRE . —Miss Grace Hawthorne , the lessee of this popular theatre , is slowly recovering her health , and there is now every reason to hope that she will be able , in the course of a few weeks , to join Mr . Wilson Barrett in the cast cf " Now-a-Days , " at daily matinees . New scenery is being specially painted , and new costumes made , for the production of " Hamlet "

on Monday , the 28 th inst ., the booking for which already exceeds the expectations of the management . " Hands Across the Sea "continues to draw crowded houses . On Saturday last this immense house vvas packed from the floor to the ceiling . The Free List is entirely and absolutely suspended this week j and vve are asked to add that the management can make no exception to this decision whatever .

Lady Campbell , of Blythswood , has flung herself into thc middle of the task of raising £ 10 , 000 for the extended scheme of Masonic benevolence , and if she can't do it , no one else need try . —Glasgow Evening News .

Lord Onslow will , it seems , have to go through a good many farewell functions before he leaves for New Zealand three weeks hence . The Surrey Freemasons have organised two banquets in his honour , and the Beefsteak Club contemplates entertaining him at a Sunday evening dinner . —The World .

The visit of the Duke of Connaught to the Nizam of Hyderabad , which had been postponed in consequence of his Royal Highness having sustained a sprain , was arranged to take place on the 23 rd inst ., and according to all accounts great preparations had been made for the reception of the Duke . The anniversary of the Lodge of Repose was

held at Derby ' on Thursday , the 17 th inst ., when there was a large attendance of brethren . Bro . John Ryley was installed as VV . M . for the ensuing year . In response to an appeal by Bro . Lord Mayor Whitehead for funds for the Royal Agricultural Society's Show at Windsor in the month of June , the Alliance Insurance Company have contributed Xiooj the Phcenix

Fire Office £ 52 ios . j the London and Westminster Bank £ 105 j and the Merchant Taylors' Company £ 52 ios . On Sunday night last at Colchester Miss Mary Henniker , a relative of Bro . Lord Henniker , P . G . M . Suffolk , accidentally set herself on fire , and vvas so severely

burned that she succumbed the following day . Bro . the Earl of Kintore , who has been appointed Governor of South Australia , arrived in town during the latter part of last week , and will leave England to take up his appointment on the ist March . The Countess of Kintore and Lord Inverurie will accompany his lordship .

Bros . Col . Edis , Sir Reginald Hanson , Barto Augustus Harris , H . W . Lawson , M . P ., and Col . Hughes , M . P ., are among those who have been returned members of the London County Council . At the meeting of Moira Lodge , No . 92 , on

Tuesday , ten guineas vvas voted from the funds to the Gould Testimonial . The Queen has appointed Bro . the Earl of Limerick Captain of the Yeomen of the Guard in place of Bro . the Earl of Kintore .

On the occasion of re-opening the Southport Conservative Club , on Tuesday last , the Hon . G . N . Curzon , M . P ., was presented with a key , which vvas of solid silver and of chaste design , manufactured by Bro . George Kenning , goldsmith , of London , and will prove an artisticsouvenir of the day ' s ceremony . The wards bore

the inscription : " Presented to the Hon . G . N . Curzon , M . P ., on the occasion of the re-opening of the Southport Conservative Club , 22 nd January , 18 S 9 . " On one side of the handle were richly enamelled the arms of the borough of Southport , and on the reverse those of the Curzon family , vvith the motto , " Let Curzon holde what Curzon helde . "

Bro . Lord Magheramorne presided at the weekl y meeting of the Metropolitan Board of Works on the iSth instant , when two members who had been defeated in their candidature for the London County Council , resigned their seats at the Board .

The annual Cinderella ball of the Cripplegate Lodge , No . 1613 , will take place at the Cannon-street Hotel to-day ( Friday ) . Under the presidency of Mr . F . J . W . Hutton , the members of the "Old Masonians" Society held a social gathering , on Wednesday , at Anderton ' s . A grand concert and conversazione in aid of

theMasonic Orphan Schools was held , under the auspices of St . Cecilia Lodge , in the Freemasons' Hall , on Saturday evening , the 19 th instant . The concert was under distinguished patronage , and the list of vocalists and instrumentalists vvas as strong as the best local talent can make it . Dr . Joze conducted , and Sir Robert Stewart presided at thc organ .

On VVednesday evening , the 9 th inst ., a concert was given in the Orange Hall , Carleton-street , Portadown , in aid of the Masonic Charities . When the concert commenced the hall was filled to . overflowing by a large and appreciative audience . The artists engaged were Miss Rennie , Miss Nicholson , Miss Marks , Miss Maude Marks , Mrs . Taylor , and Messrs . Alderdice , Nelson , Dempster ,

Hinde ( Belfast ) , Dr . Marks , and Captain O'Brien . All the performers acquitted themselves in capital style , and the concert on the whole was a great success . The concert at St . James ' s Hall , which had been initiated for the benefit of the late John Luck ' s sisters by Mr . Sims Reeves , took place on Monday evenand

ing , , to judge from the crowded state of the Hall in every part , will have proved successful in the purpose for which it was held . The promoter was unfortunately prevented , by illness , from attending , but the programme vvas an excellent one , and excellently rendered , the audience being enthusiastic in their reception of the various artists who contributed to the entertainment .

An interesting Masonic festival was held on Tuesday , the 15 th inst ., at Crowle , and there vvas present one of the largest " reserve " audiences seen in the hall for years past . The performers vvere all Crowle favourites , ancl every one vvas redemanded over and over again . They comprised Madame Armitage , Miss V . Beaumont , and Messrs . P . Priestly , C . Blagbro , and W . Kingdon . The hall had been

prepared for the occasion and ferns , plants , pictures , flags , & c , made it have an inviting and cheery look . The brethren at this season throw their whole interest and energies into the business of making the concert successful , as it is for a Masonic charitable purpose . A very select company assembled about eleven p . m ., to the number of about seventy , and entered vvith spirit into the dances to the strains of the band .

The funeral of the late Bro . J . Whitehead , wbo was a P . M . of St . Luke ' s Lodge , P . Z . of St . The concert was under distinguished patronage , and the list of vocalists and instrumentalists vvas as strong as the best local talent can make it . Dr . On VVednesday evening , the 9 th inst ., a concert was given in the Orange Hall , Carleton-street , Portadown , in aid of the Masonic Charities . When the concert commenced the hall was filled to . overflowing by a large and appreciative audience . The artists engaged were Miss Rennie , Miss Nicholson , Miss Marks , Miss Maude Marks , Mrs . Taylor , and Messrs . Alderdice , Nelson , Dempster ,

Hinde ( Belfast ) , Dr . Marks , and Captain O'Brien . All the performers acquitted themselves in capital style , and the concert on the whole was a great success . The concert at St . James ' s Hall , which had been initiated for the benefit of the late John Luck ' s sisters by Mr . Sims Reeves , took place on Monday evenand

ing , , to judge from the crowded state of the Hall in every part , will have proved successful in the purpose for which it was held . The promoter was unfortunately prevented , by illness , from attending , but the programme vvas an excellent one , and excellently rendered , the audience being enthusiastic in their reception of the various artists who contributed to the entertainment .

An interesting Masonic festival was held on Tuesday , the 15 th inst ., at Crowle , and there vvas present one of the largest " reserve " audiences seen in the hall for years past . The performers vvere all Crowle favourites , ancl every one vvas redemanded over and over again . They comprised Madame Armitage , Miss V . Beaumont , and Messrs . P . Priestly , C . Blagbro , and W . Kingdon . The hall had been

prepared for the occasion and ferns , plants , pictures , flags , & c , made it have an inviting and cheery look . The brethren at this season throw their whole interest and energies into the business of making the concert successful , as it is for a Masonic charitable purpose . A very select company assembled about eleven p . m ., to the number of about seventy , and entered vvith spirit into the dances to the strains of the band .
