Le Cronier since his return from his charitable mission to the Masonic Benevolent Institution Festival , hearty congratulations were tendered and reciprocated . to the refreshment board . The usual loyal toasts havingbeen honoured , Bro . Dr . Le Cronier , in proposing "The Lodge Benevolent Fund , " gave very interesting particulars of his experience of charity , and the manner of collecting the amounts , which caused a very successful collection to be made in the lodge charity box . This box is passed round the refreshment board at every gathering " and forms a very
useful sum in case of need . " 1 he evening was spent in a most enjoyable manner . The toast of " The Visitors , " proposed by the W . M ., responded to by Bro . General Kelly , C . B ., P . M ., P . CHORLEY . —Townley Parker Lodge ( No . 1032 ) . —The usual monthly meeting of the above lodge was held at the Howard Arms Hotel , on Thursday , the 17 th inst ., Bro . James Lawrence , P . M . 730 , W . M ., in the chair , supported by Bros . Heald and Corbell , P . M . ' s ; A . Hall , S . W . ; R . Irving , J . W . ; andupwardsof twenty-five members . Visitors : Bros . Jackson , 5 S 0 , and Isaac J acobs , 11 S 2
and 1576 . After the minutes of the previous meeting had been read and confirmed , Bros . John Gardner , Atherton , and Bird being desirous of going forward gave proofs of their proficiency , were entrusted , and retired . The above named brethren were then re-admitted and raised to the Sublime Degree of M . M . by the W . M . in a very efficient manner ,
ably assisted by his officers . The lodge was then closed down and Bro . J . Gardner proposed a gentleman for initiation . " Hearty good wishes " having been expressed b y the visitors the lodge was closed , and the brethren retired to the
banquetingroom , where a good supper was provided b y the hostess . Upon the removal of the cloth the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed and duly honoured . A number of the brethren contributed to the harmony of the evening with songs and recitations . The Tyler's toast concluded a very pleasant gathering .
WEST DERBY . —Pembroke Lodge ( No . 1299 ) . —The annual installation meeting of the members of this lodge was held on Thursday afternoon , the 17 th inst ., at Rawlinson's Hotel , West Derby , near Liverpool , where there was a large gathering of the Craft . Johnson and Dant were raised to the Sublime Degree of a M . M . by the W . M , in a very able manner . The Secretary was instructed to send a letter of condolence to Bro . J . J . Smith , I . G . " Hearty good wishes" were expressed by the
visitors , the lodge was closed , and the brethren retired to refreshment . The charity box having been handed round the table , the W . M . was enabled to relieve a distressed brother . After the usual loyal and Masonic toasts had been proposed and duly honoured , the W . M . proposed " The Health of Bro . Dant , " who is about to return to the Brazils , and
stated that it was seven years since he had been initiated in the Hamer Lodge , and that he had been unable to take the Third Degree till that evening . Bro . Dant responded in suitable terms . Bro . Leason proposed " The Health of the Visitors . " Bro . Bucknall , W . M . 460 ( the newly-appointed Governor of the West Derby Workhouse ) , returned thanks . The Tyler's toast brought a very pleasant evening to a close .
BIRMINGHAM . —Lodge of Israel ( No . 1474 ) . —This lodge held their annual installation , by special dispensation , on Thursday , the 17 th inst ., when Bro . Abraham Silverston , J . W ., was installed as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year . The installation ceremony was performed by the retiring Master , Bro . Paul Roberts , in a most able manner , giving the greatest delight to the large and
influential body of brethren who were present . The new Master then appointed and invested his officers as follows : Bros . S . J . Emmanuel , B . A ., Chap . ; C . Woolf , S . W . ; H . Creamer , J . W . ; H . Wilkinson , Sec . ; P . H . Lawrence , S . D . ; J . Creamer , J . D . ; S . Sweeting , I . G . ; N . Bellman , J . Marks , and A Cotton , Stewards . After the lodge was closed the members and visiting brethren adjourned to the banqueting-room , which presented
a very beautiful appearance from the floral decorations due to the liberality of the Worshipful Master . After partaking of an excellently served banquet , a programme of vocal . and instrumental music [ was performed , and the brethren were much indebted to Bros . Turley , Troman , Hast , and Viguro for their contributions towards an excellent and enjoyable entertainment . A handsome Past Master ' s jewel was presented to the Installing Master , Bro . Paul Roberts , I . P . M .
MANCHESTER . —Prince Leopold Lodge ( No . 15 SS ) . —The regular meeting of this lodge was held at the Masonic Rooms , Herbert-street , Stretford . A more truly Masonic lodge in every sense it has not been our privilege to visit . The lodge is still in its infancy , having only been consecrated in 1 S 75 , but during the succeeding years the members have worked with such spirit and energy , that at
the present time we much doubt if better working could be seen in West Lancashire . Added to this grand feature , there prevails the utmost unanimity and Drotherly love amongst its members , and their great study is to promote the comfort and convenience of visitors so that they may feel thoroughly at home , thereby practising the precepts which they profess and are taught to admire .

the previous meeting had been read and confirmed , Mr . John Milne Davidson was initiated into Freemasonry by Bro . George Barber , P . M ., and on the termination of the ceremony , the W . M ., Bro . Henry Crosby , resumed his duties , and initiated Mr . Richard Davison into Freemasonry . The lodge was afterwards called off , and the brethren adjourned at 6 . 30 to take tea at the Talbot Hotel .
At 7 . 30 the brethren returned to the lodge room , and business was resumed . The J . W ., Bro . Boden , delivered the E . A . charge to Bros . Davidson and Davison , and presented and explained the working tools to them in a very satisfactory manner . Bro . Roscoe was raised to the Second Degree . The work throughout was done in a highly creditable manner . This being the night for electing a W . M .,
the voting papers were delivered to the brethren , and their unanimous choice fell upon the S . W ., Bro . J . B . Andrew , who was declared duly elected . Bro . Andrew returned thanks to the brethren in a few well-chosen sentences . Bro . W . H . Wakefield , P . M ., was re-elected Treasurer for the ensuing year , as was also the Tyler , Bro . J . Worthington .
"Hearty good wishes" were expressed by the visiting brethren , and the lodge closed in peace and harmony at 9 . 10 . At the social board , after the loyal and Masonic toasts , " The Healths of the Initiates and Newly Passed Brother" were proposed and responded to , and a very pleasant hour and half was passed , the brethren separating shortly before eleven oVlock .
YORK . —Eboracum Lodge ( No . 1611 ) . —On Monday the regular meeting of this lodge was held , the W . M ., Bro . J . 1 . Seller , presiding , supported by Bros . C G . Padel , I . P . M . ; I " . B . Whytehead , P . M . ; J . S . Cumberland , P . M . ; Georcje Balmford , P . M . ; G . Simpson , S . W . ; M . Millington , J . W . ; and several other officers and brethren . Bro . Simpson , having assumed the chair , worked the opening and closing in the First Degree and the ceremony of initiation in a very creditable manner . A ballot was taken for a life membership of the Benevolent Institution , and Bro . B . Stephenson was declared the winner . The lodge was then closed , and the remainder of the evening was spent in a social manner .
NORTH WALSHAM— Suffield Lodge ( No . 1 S 08 ) . —The usual monthly meeting of this lodge was held at the Angel Hotel on Wednesday , the 16 th inst ., under the gavel of its respected Master , Bro . After the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed , the W . M . proceeded to perform the ceremony of initiating Mr . G . McLean into the privileges and mysteries of ancient Freemasonry , which was done in an excellent
manner . The W . M . afterwards raised Bro . Dixon to the Sublime Degree of a M . M ., the ceremony being admirably rendered . After the lodge had been closed , the brethren . adjourned to an excellent supper , provided by Bro . P . M . Firman , and the cloth having been removed , the rest of the evening was
spent in a very pleasant manner . The success of this lodge is in no small measure due to its indefatigable Secretary , who , at all times , takes an interest in matters connected with Masonry . We 'congratulate Bro . Plumbly on his successful working , and hope that he may have plenty of work to occupy hir . attention during the ensuing year .

The lodge having been opened in the First Degree , the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . The lodge was then opened in the Second and Third Degrees , and resumed in the First . Bro . Bentley Haynes acting as a candidate for the Second Degree , answered the usual questions , and the lodge having been resumed in the Second Degree , Bro . Haynes was passed to the Degree of

ERA CHAPTER ( No . 1423 ) . —The first convocation of the season of this chapter was held at the Albany Hotel , Twickenham , on the 12 th inst . Among those in attendance were Comps . VV . Haslitt , P . S . ; Gilbert , Janitor ; and others . The chapter was honoured with the presence of Ex . Comp . Sir F . Burdett , P . G . S . of Middx ., & c . The ballot was taken upon behalf of Bro . F . Smith , 1656 , and it proved to be unanimous , but through unavoidable circumstances the candidate was prevented from attending . Several com ' munications having been read , the chapter was closed , and
the companions adjourned to refreshment . The preliminary toasts having received full justice , "The Health of the P . G . S . of Middlesex , " was proposed in very fluent and flattering terms by the M . E . Z ., who congratulated the chapter upon been honoured with a visit from one who conducted the affairs of Royal Arch Masonry in the province with much courtesy and ability . In his
reply the Provincial G . S . expressed his acknowledgments for the very warm reception he had received from the members of the " Era . " He was glad to hear that the chapter was progressing , which satisfactory state of things he hoped would continue . In conclusion he trusted that the members of the Provincial Royal Arch Chapters generally would spare no exertion in their endeavours to increase the prosperity of the Degree in Middlesex . CHORLEY . —Townley Parker Lodge ( No . 1032 ) . —The usual monthly meeting of the above lodge was held at the Howard Arms Hotel , on Thursday , the 17 th inst ., Bro . James Lawrence , P . M . 730 , W . M ., in the chair , supported by Bros . Heald and Corbell , P . M . ' s ; A . Hall , S . W . ; R . Irving , J . W . ; andupwardsof twenty-five members . Visitors : Bros . Jackson , 5 S 0 , and Isaac J acobs , 11 S 2
and 1576 . After the minutes of the previous meeting had been read and confirmed , Bros . John Gardner , Atherton , and Bird being desirous of going forward gave proofs of their proficiency , were entrusted , and retired . The above named brethren were then re-admitted and raised to the Sublime Degree of M . M . by the W . M . in a very efficient manner ,
ably assisted by his officers . The lodge was then closed down and Bro . J . Gardner proposed a gentleman for initiation . " Hearty good wishes " having been expressed b y the visitors the lodge was closed , and the brethren retired to the
banquetingroom , where a good supper was provided b y the hostess . Upon the removal of the cloth the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed and duly honoured . A number of the brethren contributed to the harmony of the evening with songs and recitations . The Tyler's toast concluded a very pleasant gathering .

" Hearty good wishes" were expressed by the
visitors , the lodge was closed , and the brethren retired to refreshment . The charity box having been handed round the table , the W . M . was enabled to relieve a distressed brother . After the usual loyal and Masonic toasts had been proposed and duly honoured , the W . M . proposed " The Health of Bro . Dant , " who is about to return to the Brazils , and
stated that it was seven years since he had been initiated in the Hamer Lodge , and that he had been unable to take the Third Degree till that evening . Bro . Dant responded in suitable terms . Bro . Leason proposed " The Health of the Visitors . " Bro . Bucknall , W . M . 460 ( the newly-appointed Governor of the West Derby Workhouse ) , returned thanks . The Tyler's toast brought a very pleasant evening to a close .
BIRMINGHAM . —Lodge of Israel ( No . 1474 ) . —This lodge held their annual installation , by special dispensation , on Thursday , the 17 th inst ., when Bro . Abraham Silverston , J . W ., was installed as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year . The installation ceremony was performed by the retiring Master , Bro . Paul Roberts , in a most able manner , giving the greatest delight to the large and

MANCHESTER . —Prince Leopold Lodge ( No . 15 SS ) . —The regular meeting of this lodge was held at the Masonic Rooms , Herbert-street , Stretford . A more truly Masonic lodge in every sense it has not been our privilege to visit . The lodge is still in its infancy , having only been consecrated in 1 S 75 , but during the succeeding years the members have worked with such spirit and energy , that at
the present time we much doubt if better working could be seen in West Lancashire . Added to this grand feature , there prevails the utmost unanimity and Drotherly love amongst its members , and their great study is to promote the comfort and convenience of visitors so that they may feel thoroughly at home , thereby practising the precepts which they profess and are taught to admire .

M ., Bro . Henry Crosby , resumed his duties , and initiated Mr . Richard Davison into Freemasonry . The lodge was afterwards called off , and the brethren adjourned at 6 . 30 to take tea at the Talbot Hotel .
At 7 . 30 the brethren returned to the lodge room , and business was resumed . The J . W ., Bro . Boden , delivered the E . A . charge to Bros . Davidson and Davison , and presented and explained the working tools to them in a very satisfactory manner . Bro . Roscoe was raised to the Second Degree . The work throughout was done in a highly creditable manner . This being the night for electing a W . M .,
the voting papers were delivered to the brethren , and their unanimous choice fell upon the S . W ., Bro . J . B . Andrew , who was declared duly elected . Bro . Andrew returned thanks to the brethren in a few well-chosen sentences . Bro . W . H . Wakefield , P . M ., was re-elected Treasurer for the ensuing year , as was also the Tyler , Bro . J . Worthington .
"Hearty good wishes" were expressed by the visiting brethren , and the lodge closed in peace and harmony at 9 . 10 . At the social board , after the loyal and Masonic toasts , " The Healths of the Initiates and Newly Passed Brother" were proposed and responded to , and a very pleasant hour and half was passed , the brethren separating shortly before eleven oVlock .
YORK . —Eboracum Lodge ( No . 1611 ) . —On Monday the regular meeting of this lodge was held , the W . M ., Bro . J . 1 . Seller , presiding , supported by Bros . C G . Padel , I . P . M . ; I " . A ballot was taken for a life membership of the Benevolent Institution , and Bro . B . Stephenson was declared the winner . After the lodge had been closed , the brethren . adjourned to an excellent supper , provided by Bro . P . M . Firman , and the cloth having been removed , the rest of the evening was
spent in a very pleasant manner . The success of this lodge is in no small measure due to its indefatigable Secretary , who , at all times , takes an interest in matters connected with Masonry . The ballot was taken upon behalf of Bro . F . Smith , 1656 , and it proved to be unanimous , but through unavoidable circumstances the candidate was prevented from attending . Several com ' munications having been read , the chapter was closed , and
the companions adjourned to refreshment . The preliminary toasts having received full justice , "The Health of the P . G . S . of Middlesex , " was proposed in very fluent and flattering terms by the M . E . Z ., who congratulated the chapter upon been honoured with a visit from one who conducted the affairs of Royal Arch Masonry in the province with much courtesy and ability . In his
