JERSEY . —St . Aubin's Lodge ( No . 958 ) . —The usual monthly meeting of this lodge was held at the Masonic Temple , on 1 ' uesday , the 15 th inst . The lodge was opened in due form at a quarter-past six , and the minutes having been read and confirmed , Bro . J . S . St . John Campbell was passed to the Degree of F . C . Ballot was taken for Cap tain VV . H . Chambers , who being unanimously accepted ,

was admitted to the Degree of h . A ., the W . M . working both ceremonies , assisted by Bros . J . O . Flaherty , P . M ., P . G . S . W ., as acting S . W . ; J . Oatley , P . M ., acting J . W . ; F . Waldron , S . D . ; Hatton , J . D . ; Bandanis . I . G . ; J . G . Pallot , Sec . ; VV . H . Chapman , P . M ., P . P . G . D . C , and Treas . ; and Dowden , P . G . O ., Organist . Punctually at eight p . m . Bro . Le Cronier , M . D ., P . D . G . M ., accompanied

by his Grand Officers , Past and Present , entered the lodge . room , already well filled as usual by a large number of the Craft . As this was the first visit of Bro . Le Cronier since his return from his charitable mission to the Masonic Benevolent Institution Festival , hearty congratulations were tendered and reciprocated . to the refreshment board . The usual loyal toasts havingbeen honoured , Bro . Dr . Le Cronier , in proposing "The Lodge Benevolent Fund , " gave very interesting particulars of his experience of charity , and the manner of collecting the amounts , which caused a very successful collection to be made in the lodge charity box . This box is passed round the refreshment board at every gathering " and forms a very

useful sum in case of need . " 1 he evening was spent in a most enjoyable manner . The toast of " The Visitors , " proposed by the W . M ., responded to by Bro . General Kelly , C . B ., P . M ., P . P . G . VV ., was well received , when the toast of all loyal Masons by the Tyler brought to a close one of the largest gatherings for some time past . Among those present were Bros . T . Kine , R . CHORLEY . —Townley Parker Lodge ( No . 1032 ) . —The usual monthly meeting of the above lodge was held at the Howard Arms Hotel , on Thursday , the 17 th inst ., Bro . James Lawrence , P . M . 730 , W . M ., in the chair , supported by Bros . Heald and Corbell , P . M . ' s ; A . Hall , S . W . ; R . Irving , J . W . ; andupwardsof twenty-five members . Visitors : Bros . Jackson , 5 S 0 , and Isaac J acobs , 11 S 2

and 1576 . After the minutes of the previous meeting had been read and confirmed , Bros . John Gardner , Atherton , and Bird being desirous of going forward gave proofs of their proficiency , were entrusted , and retired . The above named brethren were then re-admitted and raised to the Sublime Degree of M . M . by the W . M . in a very efficient manner ,

ably assisted by his officers . The lodge was then closed down and Bro . J . Gardner proposed a gentleman for initiation . " Hearty good wishes " having been expressed b y the visitors the lodge was closed , and the brethren retired to the

banquetingroom , where a good supper was provided b y the hostess . Upon the removal of the cloth the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed and duly honoured . A number of the brethren contributed to the harmony of the evening with songs and recitations . The Tyler's toast concluded a very pleasant gathering .

WEST DERBY . —Pembroke Lodge ( No . 1299 ) . —The annual installation meeting of the members of this lodge was held on Thursday afternoon , the 17 th inst ., at Rawlinson's Hotel , West Derby , near Liverpool , where there was a large gathering of the Craft . Bro . W . S . Bennett , the retiring W . M ., presided at the opening , and amongst those present were Bros . VV . Vines , P . P . G . D . C . ;

The lodge was then Closed , and the brethren retired for refreshment , and after passing a pleasant evening separated in peace and harmony , well satisfied with their first re-union after a three months' vacation .

Johnson and Dant were raised to the Sublime Degree of a M . M . by the W . M , in a very able manner . The Secretary was instructed to send a letter of condolence to Bro . J . J . Smith , I . G . " Hearty good wishes" were expressed by the

visitors , the lodge was closed , and the brethren retired to refreshment . The charity box having been handed round the table , the W . M . was enabled to relieve a distressed brother . After the usual loyal and Masonic toasts had been proposed and duly honoured , the W . M . proposed " The Health of Bro . Dant , " who is about to return to the Brazils , and

stated that it was seven years since he had been initiated in the Hamer Lodge , and that he had been unable to take the Third Degree till that evening . Bro . Dant responded in suitable terms . Bro . Leason proposed " The Health of the Visitors . " Bro . Bucknall , W . M . 460 ( the newly-appointed Governor of the West Derby Workhouse ) , returned thanks . The Tyler's toast brought a very pleasant evening to a close .

BIRMINGHAM . —Lodge of Israel ( No . 1474 ) . —This lodge held their annual installation , by special dispensation , on Thursday , the 17 th inst ., when Bro . Abraham Silverston , J . W ., was installed as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year . The installation ceremony was performed by the retiring Master , Bro . Paul Roberts , in a most able manner , giving the greatest delight to the large and

influential body of brethren who were present . The new Master then appointed and invested his officers as follows : Bros . S . J . Emmanuel , B . A ., Chap . ; C . Woolf , S . W . ; H . Creamer , J . W . ; H . Wilkinson , Sec . ; P . H . Lawrence , S . D . ; J . Creamer , J . D . ; S . Sweeting , I . G . ; N . Bellman , J . Marks , and A Cotton , Stewards . After the lodge was closed the members and visiting brethren adjourned to the banqueting-room , which presented

a very beautiful appearance from the floral decorations due to the liberality of the Worshipful Master . After partaking of an excellently served banquet , a programme of vocal . and instrumental music [ was performed , and the brethren were much indebted to Bros . Turley , Troman , Hast , and Viguro for their contributions towards an excellent and enjoyable entertainment . A handsome Past Master ' s jewel was presented to the Installing Master , Bro . Paul Roberts , I . P . M .

MANCHESTER . —Prince Leopold Lodge ( No . 15 SS ) . —The regular meeting of this lodge was held at the Masonic Rooms , Herbert-street , Stretford . A more truly Masonic lodge in every sense it has not been our privilege to visit . The lodge is still in its infancy , having only been consecrated in 1 S 75 , but during the succeeding years the members have worked with such spirit and energy , that at

the present time we much doubt if better working could be seen in West Lancashire . Added to this grand feature , there prevails the utmost unanimity and Drotherly love amongst its members , and their great study is to promote the comfort and convenience of visitors so that they may feel thoroughly at home , thereby practising the precepts which they profess and are taught to admire .

The lodge was opened at 4 . 45 , and after the minutes of

the previous meeting had been read and confirmed , Mr . John Milne Davidson was initiated into Freemasonry by Bro . George Barber , P . M ., and on the termination of the ceremony , the W . M ., Bro . Henry Crosby , resumed his duties , and initiated Mr . Richard Davison into Freemasonry . The lodge was afterwards called off , and the brethren adjourned at 6 . 30 to take tea at the Talbot Hotel .

At 7 . 30 the brethren returned to the lodge room , and business was resumed . The J . W ., Bro . Boden , delivered the E . A . charge to Bros . Davidson and Davison , and presented and explained the working tools to them in a very satisfactory manner . Bro . Roscoe was raised to the Second Degree . The work throughout was done in a highly creditable manner . This being the night for electing a W . M .,

the voting papers were delivered to the brethren , and their unanimous choice fell upon the S . W ., Bro . J . B . Andrew , who was declared duly elected . Bro . Andrew returned thanks to the brethren in a few well-chosen sentences . Bro . W . H . Wakefield , P . M ., was re-elected Treasurer for the ensuing year , as was also the Tyler , Bro . J . Worthington .

"Hearty good wishes" were expressed by the visiting brethren , and the lodge closed in peace and harmony at 9 . 10 . At the social board , after the loyal and Masonic toasts , " The Healths of the Initiates and Newly Passed Brother" were proposed and responded to , and a very pleasant hour and half was passed , the brethren separating shortly before eleven oVlock .

YORK . —Eboracum Lodge ( No . 1611 ) . —On Monday the regular meeting of this lodge was held , the W . M ., Bro . J . 1 . Seller , presiding , supported by Bros . C G . Padel , I . P . M . ; I " . B . Whytehead , P . M . ; J . S . Cumberland , P . M . ; Georcje Balmford , P . M . ; G . Simpson , S . W . ; M . Millington , J . W . ; and several other officers and brethren . After some preliminary business the lodge resolved itself into a meeting for instruction , and the S . VV .,

Bro . Simpson , having assumed the chair , worked the opening and closing in the First Degree and the ceremony of initiation in a very creditable manner . A ballot was taken for a life membership of the Benevolent Institution , and Bro . B . Stephenson was declared the winner . The lodge was then closed , and the remainder of the evening was spent in a social manner .

NORTH WALSHAM— Suffield Lodge ( No . 1 S 08 ) . —The usual monthly meeting of this lodge was held at the Angel Hotel on Wednesday , the 16 th inst ., under the gavel of its respected Master , Bro . G . T . Plumbly . There were also present Bros . F . B . Ouinton , P . M . 213 , 1500 , 1 S 0 S , P . P . G . A . D . C , acting I . P . M . ; Alfred R . J . Woolbright , S . W . ; G . W . Rogers , J . VV . ; Donald G . F .

Gaul , S . D . ; Horace Randall , J . D . ; — Webster , I . G . ; E . Hollidge , Tyler ; C . Barnes , Sec . ; G . Brittain , Org' . ; and a large number of brethren and visitors . After the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed , the W . M . proceeded to perform the ceremony of initiating Mr . G . McLean into the privileges and mysteries of ancient Freemasonry , which was done in an excellent

manner . The W . M . afterwards raised Bro . Dixon to the Sublime Degree of a M . M ., the ceremony being admirably rendered . After the lodge had been closed , the brethren . adjourned to an excellent supper , provided by Bro . P . M . Firman , and the cloth having been removed , the rest of the evening was

spent in a very pleasant manner . The success of this lodge is in no small measure due to its indefatigable Secretary , who , at all times , takes an interest in matters connected with Masonry . We 'congratulate Bro . Plumbly on his successful working , and hope that he may have plenty of work to occupy hir . attention during the ensuing year .

INSTRUCTION . LANGTON LODGE ( No . 1673 ) . —A meeting of this lodge of instruction was held on Thursday , the 17 th inst ., at the Mansion House Station Restaurant , Queen Victoria-street , E . C . There were present Bros . William Fraser , W . M . ; Rosenthall , S . VV . ; C . E . Barnett , J . W . ; Sudlow , Preceptor ; J . D . Langton , Sec . ; Hosken , S . D . ; Bue , J . D . ; Saunders , I . G . ; E . VV . Haines , Pocock , Bentley Haynes , A . W . Wells , I . S . Fraser , and others .

The lodge having been opened in the First Degree , the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . The lodge was then opened in the Second and Third Degrees , and resumed in the First . Bro . Bentley Haynes acting as a candidate for the Second Degree , answered the usual questions , and the lodge having been resumed in the Second Degree , Bro . Haynes was passed to the Degree of

F . C . Bro . Bug then explained the Second Tracing Board . The lodge was closed in the Second Degree . Bro . Rosenthall was unanimously elected to fill the chair at the next meeting . The following brethren were then elected members of the lodge : Bros . Richard F . Hosken , S . D . 1 S 20 ; S . T . H . Saunders , 1820 ; and Alfred Pocock , 263 . The lodge was then closed .

ERA CHAPTER ( No . 1423 ) . —The first convocation of the season of this chapter was held at the Albany Hotel , Twickenham , on the 12 th inst . Among those in attendance were Comps . VV . Hammond , P . P . A . S . Middx ., M . E . Z . ; T . C . Walls , P . G . D . C . Middx ., H . j J . W . Baldwin , P . Z ., J . ; E . Thiellay , P . P . G . D . C . Middx ., P . Z ., Treasurer ; Faulkner , S . E . ; T . VV . Ockenden , S . N . ;

Haslitt , P . S . ; Gilbert , Janitor ; and others . The chapter was honoured with the presence of Ex . Comp . Sir F . Burdett , P . G . S . of Middx ., & c . The ballot was taken upon behalf of Bro . F . Smith , 1656 , and it proved to be unanimous , but through unavoidable circumstances the candidate was prevented from attending . Several com ' munications having been read , the chapter was closed , and

the companions adjourned to refreshment . The preliminary toasts having received full justice , "The Health of the P . G . S . of Middlesex , " was proposed in very fluent and flattering terms by the M . E . Z ., who congratulated the chapter upon been honoured with a visit from one who conducted the affairs of Royal Arch Masonry in the province with much courtesy and ability . In his

reply the Provincial G . S . expressed his acknowledgments for the very warm reception he had received from the members of the " Era . " He was glad to hear that the chapter was progressing , which satisfactory state of things he hoped would continue . In conclusion he trusted that the members of the Provincial Royal Arch Chapters generally would spare no exertion in their endeavours to increase the prosperity of the Degree in Middlesex . or M . H . £ . was proposed in appropriate terms by Comp . Thiellay . This pledge having been duly honoured , the M . E . Z . replied . " Ihe Second and Third Principals" followed . Comps . Walls and Baldwin having responded , "The Past Principal " came next in order , and was acknowledged by Comp . Thiellay . "The Officers , " coupled with the name of Comp . Haslitt , terminated the proceedings .

MANCHESTER . —Trafford Chapter ( No . 1 496 ) . —A meeting of the above lodge took place at the Alexandra Hotel , Moss Side , on Thursday , the 17 th inst . There , were present : Comps . H . P . Jones , Z . ; VV . S . Watson , H . ; J . R . Lever , J . ; C J . Gillman , P . Z ., acting E . ; S . D . Mc Kellen , P . S . ; F . Long , J . Hill , Janitor . Visitors : Comps . J . Barker , P . Z ., acting N . ; and R . R .

Lisenden , 317 ( Freemason ) . The chapter was opened at 7 . 30 , and when the minutes of the previous meeting had been read and confirmed , Bro . Robert White , J . W . Callender Lodge , No . 1052 ; and George Hurst , Sec . Shakespeare Lodge , No . icog , were exalted to the Royal Arch Degree by the officers present . This being the night for electing officers Comp . W . S . Watson was elected Z . ; Comp . H . P . Jones descended a

step , and was elected H . ; whilst Comps . J . R . Lever , and S . D . McKellen , were , at their expressed desire , re-elected J . and P . S . respectivel y . Comp . George Bensleur , who was unavoidably absent , was elected Scribe E ., a very high compliment being paid him by his proposer , as to the able manner in which he had performed the Secretary ' s duties in the lodge . After " Hearty good wishes " had been expressed by the visitors , the chapter was closed in the usual manner at 9 . 15 .

John Gardner , Atherton , and Bird being desirous of going forward gave proofs of their proficiency , were entrusted , and retired . stated that it was seven years since he had been initiated in the Hamer Lodge , and that he had been unable to take the Third Degree till that evening . Bro . Dant responded in suitable terms . Bro . Leason proposed " The Health of the Visitors . " Bro . Bucknall , W . M . 460 ( the newly-appointed Governor of the West Derby Workhouse ) , returned thanks . The Tyler's toast brought a very pleasant evening to a close .

BIRMINGHAM . —Lodge of Israel ( No . 1474 ) . —This lodge held their annual installation , by special dispensation , on Thursday , the 17 th inst ., when Bro . Abraham Silverston , J . W ., was installed as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year . The installation ceremony was performed by the retiring Master , Bro . Paul Roberts , in a most able manner , giving the greatest delight to the large and

Turley , Troman , Hast , and Viguro for their contributions towards an excellent and enjoyable entertainment . A handsome Past Master ' s jewel was presented to the Installing Master , Bro . MANCHESTER . —Prince Leopold Lodge ( No . 15 SS ) . —The regular meeting of this lodge was held at the Masonic Rooms , Herbert-street , Stretford . A more truly Masonic lodge in every sense it has not been our privilege to visit . The lodge is still in its infancy , having only been consecrated in 1 S 75 , but during the succeeding years the members have worked with such spirit and energy , that at

the present time we much doubt if better working could be seen in West Lancashire . Added to this grand feature , there prevails the utmost unanimity and Drotherly love amongst its members , and their great study is to promote the comfort and convenience of visitors so that they may feel thoroughly at home , thereby practising the precepts which they profess and are taught to admire .

the previous meeting had been read and confirmed , Mr . John Milne Davidson was initiated into Freemasonry by Bro . George Barber , P . M ., and on the termination of the ceremony , the W . M ., Bro . Henry Crosby , resumed his duties , and initiated Mr . Richard Davison into Freemasonry . The lodge was afterwards called off , and the brethren adjourned at 6 . 30 to take tea at the Talbot Hotel .

At 7 . 30 the brethren returned to the lodge room , and business was resumed . The J . W ., Bro . Boden , delivered the E . A . charge to Bros . Davidson and Davison , and presented and explained the working tools to them in a very satisfactory manner . Bro . Roscoe was raised to the Second Degree . The work throughout was done in a highly creditable manner . This being the night for electing a W . M .,

the voting papers were delivered to the brethren , and their unanimous choice fell upon the S . W ., Bro . J . B . Andrew , who was declared duly elected . Bro . Andrew returned thanks to the brethren in a few well-chosen sentences . Bro . W . H . Wakefield , P . M ., was re-elected Treasurer for the ensuing year , as was also the Tyler , Bro . J . Worthington .

"Hearty good wishes" were expressed by the visiting brethren , and the lodge closed in peace and harmony at 9 . 10 . At the social board , after the loyal and Masonic toasts , " The Healths of the Initiates and Newly Passed Brother" were proposed and responded to , and a very pleasant hour and half was passed , the brethren separating shortly before eleven oVlock .

YORK . —Eboracum Lodge ( No . 1611 ) . —On Monday the regular meeting of this lodge was held , the W . M ., Bro . J . 1 . Seller , presiding , supported by Bros . C G . Padel , I . P . M . ; I " . Bro . Simpson , having assumed the chair , worked the opening and closing in the First Degree and the ceremony of initiation in a very creditable manner . A ballot was taken for a life membership of the Benevolent Institution , and Bro . B . Stephenson was declared the winner . The lodge was then closed , and the remainder of the evening was spent in a social manner .

NORTH WALSHAM— Suffield Lodge ( No . 1 S 08 ) . —The usual monthly meeting of this lodge was held at the Angel Hotel on Wednesday , the 16 th inst ., under the gavel of its respected Master , Bro . After the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed , the W . M . proceeded to perform the ceremony of initiating Mr . G . McLean into the privileges and mysteries of ancient Freemasonry , which was done in an excellent

manner . The W . M . afterwards raised Bro . Dixon to the Sublime Degree of a M . M ., the ceremony being admirably rendered . After the lodge had been closed , the brethren . adjourned to an excellent supper , provided by Bro . P . M . Firman , and the cloth having been removed , the rest of the evening was

spent in a very pleasant manner . The success of this lodge is in no small measure due to its indefatigable Secretary , who , at all times , takes an interest in matters connected with Masonry . We 'congratulate Bro . Plumbly on his successful working , and hope that he may have plenty of work to occupy hir . attention during the ensuing year .

INSTRUCTION . LANGTON LODGE ( No . 1673 ) . —A meeting of this lodge of instruction was held on Thursday , the 17 th inst ., at the Mansion House Station Restaurant , Queen Victoria-street , E . C . The lodge having been opened in the First Degree , the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . The lodge was then opened in the Second and Third Degrees , and resumed in the First . Bro . Bentley Haynes acting as a candidate for the Second Degree , answered the usual questions , and the lodge having been resumed in the Second Degree , Bro . Haynes was passed to the Degree of

F . C . Bro . Bug then explained the Second Tracing Board . The lodge was closed in the Second Degree . Bro . Rosenthall was unanimously elected to fill the chair at the next meeting . Haslitt , P . S . ; Gilbert , Janitor ; and others . The chapter was honoured with the presence of Ex . Comp . Sir F . Burdett , P . G . S . of Middx ., & c . The ballot was taken upon behalf of Bro . F . Smith , 1656 , and it proved to be unanimous , but through unavoidable circumstances the candidate was prevented from attending . Several com ' munications having been read , the chapter was closed , and

the companions adjourned to refreshment . The preliminary toasts having received full justice , "The Health of the P . G . S . of Middlesex , " was proposed in very fluent and flattering terms by the M . E . Z ., who congratulated the chapter upon been honoured with a visit from one who conducted the affairs of Royal Arch Masonry in the province with much courtesy and ability . In his

reply the Provincial G . S . expressed his acknowledgments for the very warm reception he had received from the members of the " Era . " He was glad to hear that the chapter was progressing , which satisfactory state of things he hoped would continue . In conclusion he trusted that the members of the Provincial Royal Arch Chapters generally would spare no exertion in their endeavours to increase the prosperity of the Degree in Middlesex .
