Alasonic Hall , Plymouth . Bro . J . Chapman presided , and in giving the toast of " The M . W . G . M ., H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , and the rest of the Grand Officers , Present and Past , " said it was well known among the Craft that besides the three Degrees of the Craft and the Arch , the other Degrees were not recognised Degrees in England by Grand Lodge . The Prince of Wales , who , in addition to being the
Grand Alaster of Craft Alasons , also presided over the Alark Atasons in their Grand Lodge , was Grand Alaster of the Knights Templar , patron of the Supreme Council of the 33 , and thus had taken upon himself to recognise them all and take part in all their workings . Bro . Chapman subsequently observed that he joined the Alark Order in 1 S 71 . Since that date there had been a great improvement in their
position . In the Articles of Alasonic Union in 1 S 13 it was provided that the Grand Lodge should recognise only the three Degrees in the Craft and that of the Royal Arch . 'The other Degrees were , however , widely worked in other countries , and the progress of the Alark Degree in England had been wonderful since he joined . At that time , 21 years since , there were only 130 lodges , with 5033 members ; now
there were 453 lodges and 29 , 229 registered members—an increase of 323 lodges and 24 , 190 members . He also believed that at present there were not less than 200 , 000 Mark Master Masons in the world . It was true they laboured under difficulties in this country , but they were easily overcome . 'Their Degree was recognised and adopted by the head of the Alasonic Order , and if brethren worked
on as zealously as they had since he was initiated , the continued strides ol the Order would ensure their becoming shortly such an influential body as could not be passed over in the Alasonic world , even if there was a difficulty in their official recognition .
During the evening between the toasts an excellent entertainment of songs and recitations was provided by the brethren , including Bros . Watson , W . Parker , Brickwood , C . Croydon , Harvey , and Durbin . Bro . Parker also gave a pianoforte selection , and presided at the piano during the evening .

Best , LG . ; and J . Gidley , Tyler . In the evening the annual banquet was held at the
Alasonic Hall , Plymouth . Bro .
