Reports Of Masonic Meetings.

H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , who , he said , had taken such interest in and done so much for Masonry . The Worshipful Master , in giving " The Grand Officers , " referred to the grand work done by the Pro and Deputy Grand Masters . The Grand Officers had recently done so much for that lodge . Bro . Col . Shadwell H . Clerke had come in spite of much pain to consecrate that lodge , and

they all were grateful to them for their work . Bro . Geo . Everett , I . P . M ., said that he rose to perform a most pleasant duty in proposing "The W . M . " It needed no recommendation from him ; they were all aware of the good qualities of Bro . Cochrane , and entertained the greatest respect for him . With his usual diffidence , he had asked them to wait till the end of the year before they

spoke well of him . He was " an old Masonic hand , and performed his duties most efficiently . He believed Bro . Cochrane would make the lodge one of the most important in London . The Worshipful Master thanked the brethren for the confidence they had placed in him , but it was too soon to speak of his work . He did not desire to be flattered , but he

should take care to do everything that laid in his power for the lodge , and everything that he could do would be done to further its interests . The Worshipful Master next proposed "The Initiates . " They had four that night . The number was not large , but the quality was of the best . It augured well for the lodge to beerin with such good men , and he trusted they would

take good care to keep up to it . Without initiates Masonry could not exist , and besides it was nice to have new faces and new workers to fill up the gaps made by time . There were also more workers for those grand monuments of the Order—the Charities . Bro . Harrison felt highly indebted to the lodge for the knowledge he had received that night , and deeply regretted

that he had not before joined the Order . Bros . Hadley , Lavender , and Lawrence also responded . The Worshipful Master proposed "The Visitors . " They were not many , but , like the initiates , made up in quality for the lack of quantity . The Duke of Fife Lodge was very glad to have them , and especially as they could tell them their experience in other lodges .

Bro . Butt , P . M . 700 , felt greatly indebted to Bro . Shannaw for inviting him to attend . He was delighted with the able administration of the lodge , which must be a success from the first . Bro . Cochrane certainly was Master of the lodge . He was pleased to see Bro . Hadley initiated , as he was one of his neighbours . Bro . Luckhurst , I . P . M . 1604 , expressed great satisfaction

at the very efficient working he had witnessed . The harmony was equally good , and he hoped to come again . Bro . Capt . Holmes , S . W . 1319 , said he was not a stranger to the members , He belonged to a lodge that prided itself in its working , but now they would have to look to their laurels . The working was perfect , the harmony and the festive board were equally satisfactory .

Bros . Reed and Mitchell also replied . In proposing "The Officers , " the Worshipful Master said that under the guidance of Pro . Westley , S . W ., the members had learnt their ritual . He was one of the best teachers in London . Everyone respected and loved him . The W . M . himself had had some of his rough corners rubbed off by him . The officers were first class ones . He meant

that as no idle compliment . They were all intelligent workers , and he was unable to say too much in their favour . Bro . VVestley , S . W ., said he felt flattered but wished the W . M . 's words to be taken cum grano salis . The lodge of instruction had certainly prospered very much during the past three or four years . He trusted the Duke of Fife Lodge would copy it in the gentlemanly bearing of its

members and in its zeal for the Masonic Charities . Bro . Steele , Treas ., said he was highly honoured by the confidence reposed in him , and would take care to justify the selection they had made . Bro . Woods , Sec , said he did not wish the Duke of Fife Lodge to be one of the best in London , he wanted it to be the best .

Bro . Andrews , S . D ., said he felt peculiarly indebted to the brethren for placing him in his position without his doing any preliminary work . Bro . Harvey , J . D ., also responded . Duringthe evening a very pleasant selection of music was given by Bros . G . Everett , I . P . M . ; Harvey , J . D . ; Langdon , D . C . ; Lyell , Stwd ., Caink , and Capt . Holmes , under the direction of Bro . Winny , Org .

Bro . Butt , P . M . 700 , felt greatly indebted to Bro . Shannaw for inviting him to attend . He was delighted with the able administration of the lodge , which must be a success from the first .
