The toast of " The Queen and the Craft" having been honoured , the W . M . gave that of " H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , M . W . G . M ., " and in so doing said that as this was the year in which his silver wedding was celebrated they could not do less than drink his health heartily , and wish him long life and every blessing . The next toast was that of "The Earl of Carnarvon ,
Pro G . M . ; the Earl of Lathom , D . G . M . ; and the rest of the Grand Officers , Present and Past . " After briefly eulogising the above distinguished brethren , the W . M . said the Craft were very much indebted to one , who was at the present moment , and had been for some time , very ill ; he referred to their august brother , the Emperor Frederick William of Prussia , the grand protector of
Freemasonry in Germany . Every Mason in England sympathised with his Imperial Majesty , and he felt sure they would join with him in drinking the toast and wish their distinguished brother a speedy recovery from his suffering . Bro . Weston rose to propose the toast of "The W . M ., " and said it afforded him the greatest pleasure to have to do so , inasmuch as it had been his privilege to install their
esteemed W . M . into the chair of K . S . From what he knew of Bro . White he felt sure that they had elected the right man and placed him in the right place , for he felt sure their W . M . would well support the dignity of that grand old regiment , whose motto , Ubique , was the cognomen of their lodge—the regiment in which so many of tnem were bornand which had given some of the best of

He asked them to drink the toast heavtily and with a good gunner ' s fire . The Worshipful Master , in response , said it might be a ve cy easy thing for the I . P . M . to propose the toast , but it

desired , and he thanked Bro . Weston for it . They owed their I . P . M . a debt of gratitude for the manner in which he had conducted the business of the lodge during the past year , and he asked them with a great deal of pleasure to do honour to the toast . Bro . Weston , in response , assured the brethren that he had thc interest of the lodge at heart , and anything he
could do for its prosperity he would certainly do . So far as that lodge , being a Regimental , or Provincial Grand Military one , from what he knew he felt sure that Grand Lodge would set its back up against it , as he believed they had done in one or two cases . There was , however , no reason why that lodge should not be one of the strongest and best lodges in London . He quite endorsed the
remarks of the W . M . thatthey should do their best to make the lodge known wherever they went . Military Masons were the missionaries of Freemasonry all over the world . They were not only Masons in name , but in heart , and in work too . They had young Masons in that lodge who were good workers , and how did they gain their knowledge ? Why by attending lodges of instruction , and he trusted
they would all join together to maintain the prosperity and prestige of the Ubique Lodge . The W . M . then proposed the toast of "'The Past Masters , " and said he could not do less than speak highly of the Past Masters , especially of Bro . Richey , who , in his position of Secretary , had done such good service to the lodge . He should couple the toast with Bro . Richey ' s
name , and ask the brethren to give it a good fire . Bro . Richey , in response , spoke highly of Bro . Ritchie , P . M ., who , he said , was one of the founders of the lodge , and had taken greater interest in its success than any other brother in the lodge . That brother left the lodge on account of pressure of official duties , but they asked him to re-join , and he did , and paid up all his back dues , and
since then he had been or . e of the best and most earnest supporters of the lodge . He then referred to his earlier connection with Masonry , and of the reception given him at Colchester when Master of the Angel Lodge , which he assured the brethien were some of the most pleasant recollections of his Masonic life . He was exceedingly gratified to be of any service to the Ubique Lodge , and concluded
by heartily thanking the brethren for their reception of the toast . The toast of "The Visitors" was responded to by Bros . Hemmings , Nichols , and Jolly , and after the Wardens had responded for " The Officers , " the Tyler's toast concluded the proceedings , which were interspersed by some capital singing and reciting by Bros . Nichols , Clifton , Jolly , and ethers .
WOOLWICH . —Nelson Lodge ( No . 700 ) . — The above prosperous lodge , which runs a hard race for premiership in the Woolwich district with the Union Waterloo , held its usual monthly meeting on Wednesday , the 16 th inst ., at the Masonic Hall , William-street , there being a large and representative attendance . Campbell , 913 ; G . Chambers , 13 ; and others . The lodge having been opened and the minutes confirmed , the ballot was taken for Messrs . James Carey , Thos . Bond , and Charles Benstead , and proving unanimous
those gentlemen were duly initiated . Bros . Schwar , Mansfield , Auld , and Stepley were passed , and Bro . Flory raised . It was then resolved that 25 fully paid up shares of the Masonic Temple Association should be secured , and that the lodge should be removed to the new Temple in November next . The lodge was then closed , and after
refreshment the usual Masonic toasts were honoured , and the following brethren contributed songs or recitations—Bros . Butt , Vansittart , Lloyd , Rankin , A . Sanderson , J . Pettit to give the lecture in the Second Degree , which he did in a most accurate and impressive manner . The advantage ot
regular attendance at a lodge of instruction was fully shown in this instance , as just one year before , at the May meeting , Bro . Pettit was raised to the Sublime Degree . " For the good of Freemasonry , " Bro . Long announced that his list for the Girls' Festival amounted to £ 54 . After greetings from the visitors lodge was closed , and the brethren partook of refreshment .
The visiting brethren were Bros . A . Laurence , P . M . 1638 ; W . Lane , P . M . 1638 ; Gifford T . Salmon , P . M . 1260 ; Thomas Prince , J . D . 209 ; Doyle , 145 ; W . P . Cox , 22 ; and Gilmour , 1930 . The utmost brevity marked propositions and responses , so allowing ample time for song , of which there was good store .
MONKWEARMOUTH . —Williamson Lodge ( No . 949 ) . —On Monday , the 16 th inst ., the annual meeting of this lodge was held in the lodge room , forthe installation of W . M . and the investiture of the officers for the ensuing year . The VV . M ., Bro . Fred . Maddison , P . P . S . G . D .,

desired , and he thanked Bro .
Nichols , Clifton , Jolly , and ethers .

regular attendance at a lodge of instruction was fully shown in this instance , as just one year before , at the May meeting , Bro . Pettit was raised to the Sublime Degree . " For the good of Freemasonry , " Bro . Long announced that his list for the Girls' Festival amounted to £ 54 . After greetings from the visitors lodge was closed , and the brethren partook of refreshment .
