Whadcoat , in the chair , and was supported by his officers and a goodly number of members and visitors . The minutes of the previous meeting having been approved , Bro . T . A .

Williams was duly passed to the Second Degree . The lodge then proceeded to consider the report of the Committee , proposed at the previous meeting , on the subject of the Permanent Benevolent Fund , which the W . M . proposed to institute in place of the present Benevolent Fund , which was originated in 1 S 70 by Bro . C . B . Barnes , P . M ., Sec . The scheme provides for raising a sufficient sum to

M . has subscribed the handsome sum of 250 guineas , and the other brethren have made up the amount ( together with a small assistance from the lodge Benevolent Fund ) to over £ 500 . The scheme having been adopted , the brethren gave expression

to their sense of gratitude to the W . M . for his noble contribution , and for the great pains he had been in carrying through the necessary preliminaries by a resolution to have the event engraved on a silver loving cup for the use of the lodge . The business of the lodge being ended , the brethren adjourned to a most recherche banquet , during which Mr . Amies-King's band gave a choice selection of instrumental

. After the banquet , the usual Masonic toasts were loyally honoured , a special toast being that of " Mount Sinai Chapter and the Higher Orders , " several illustrious members of the higher Degrees having been specially invited on this occasion .
