WESTHAM . Hadrian Lodge' ( No . 2483 ) . — -The usual monthly meetinjr of this newly-lormed and flourishing lodge was held at the Corporation Arms , on Wednesday , the gth inst . The lodge was opened by the W . M ., Bro . E . W . Stillwell , all the officers being in attendance . Bro . F . A . Hookey was raised to the sublime degree of M . M . by the W . M ., who

afterwards passed Bro . William Rutter . Bro . W . E . Morrison , l . P . M ., P . P . J . G . W . Sussex , initiated Mr , Francis William Berry in his usual impressive manner . Bro . James Skinner , VV . M . mo , and Bro . Josiah Brown , mo , were duly elected joining members , and , another candidate for initiation having been proposed , the lodge was closed . At the capital supper after , the usual toasts were duly honoured , and an enjoyable evening was spent .

Sojourners ; and Patrick , Janitor . A Past Piincipal ' s jewel was presented to Comp . Austin for his services as M . E . ZI A vote of thanks was passed , with acclamation , to Comp . Jas . Terry , P . G . Std . Br ., for his tcvices as Installing Officer . Upon the motion of Gmp . Ge rge Everett , P . Z ., and seconded

by Comp . H . J . Lardner , it was unanimously resolved that a vote of congratulation be recorded on the minutes to Comp . Captain Walls upon his appointment as Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies in the Royal Arch Degree . The report of the Audit Committee , a most satisfactory one , was received and adopted . Apologies for non-attendance were received fro . n Comps . W . vV . Westley , P . Z . ; Donling , P . Z . ; Lingley , and Buxton . The chapter was

then closed . A banquet followed . The customary loyal and Arch toasts having been duly honoured , " 1 he Health of the M . E . Z . " was proposed by Comp . Jas . Terry , and warmly recei-ed . Comp . C . Sims , in reply , expressed his acknowledgments to the proposer ot the toast for the kind manner in which he had spoken of him . His career in Masonry had not

been altogether an uneventful one . He had passed the Craft chair twice . It was not for hirn to sing his own praises , but he would say that he had discharged the duties ot those positions to the best of his ability . It was his intention during the recess t > study to obtain proficiency in the Koyal Arch Degree , and he trusted to be ab ' e to do the work in a manner worthy of the high reputation that the chapter S" deservedly held i i Masonic circles .

" The Health id the Second Principal " tolloaed , and to which Comp . A . Dennis responded . In giving the toast ot "The Installing Officer , " the M . E . Z . said that the chapter owed a debt of gratitude to Comp . James Terry . He believed he wasjustilied in stating that witn two exceptions their highly respected companion had discharged the duties of Installing Ollicer ever since the chapter WAS consecrated .

Comp . Terry , in reply , thanked the M . E . Z . for his kind remarks . He said it was true that he had had the piivilege of installing the Principals with two exceptions since he had the hon ur of cons crating the chapter . Th : re were Principals in the chapter capable of discharging the duty but they had waved their clai . ns in his f ivour . rii appreciated their kindness and si Ijng as the Principals ds .-ire it , it would oiToid him the greatest possible pleasure to attend

John ' s Chapter ( No . 328 ) . — The annual meeting of this chapter was held at the Masonic Hall on Tuesday , the 15 th instant , when the Pi incipals for the ensuing year were installed as follows : Comps . W . Searley , M . E . Z . ; VV . Hers ; y , H . ; and T . Beckett , J ., the ceremony heing ably performed by Comp . A . T . Blarney , P . Z ., P . P . G . Soj ., in the unavoidable absence of Comp .

Macnaughton , I reasurer ; and the full staff of Officebearers . Among the visitors were the Three Principals of Chapter No . 50 , viz . : Comps . Booth , Kerr , and Richards ; and Comp . VV . M . Denholme , M . E . Z . 6 9 . There was a large attendance of companions from the various chapters , as great interest was centred in the presentation to Comp . Macnaughton , the Treasurer , of four jewels , consisting of the Mark , Royal Ark Mariners , Red Cross Knights , and the Royal Arch . Comp . Bradshaw , in making the

presentation , said there were few men in the province who had exhibited the zeal he had in Royal Arch Masonry . For years he had been Treasurer of their chapter , and they could not persuade him to take any higher post . Financial matters seemed to absorb his interest . No doubt this was attributable to his being a branch bank manager of the Commercial Bank of Scotland . He said that Mother Kilwinning , No . o , had more than once paid a high tribute to her faithful son , in a very substantial form . The chapter was then closed .

PORTSMOUTH . Royal Naval Preceptory ( No . 2 ) . —Through the indefatigable exertions of Sir Knight Gordon Miller , P . E . P ., K . C . T ., G . Aide-de-Camp England , a special meeting of this celebrated preceptory was held on Saturday , the 12 th instant , in the rooms of the Phcenix Lodge , when Comp . Colonel W . R . Campbell was installed as a

Knight of the Order , the ceremony being admirably conducted by the Vice-Chancellor , Sir Knight Gen . Hay , C . B ., in the presence of theV . E . Great Sub-Prior , Loid Euston , who had come down from London specially , accompanied by the following officers : Sir Knights Loveland-Loveland , Belton , Balfour Cockburn , Clifford Probyn , C F . Matier , Major Carrell , and Le Feuvre . Sir Knight Clowes , Prov . Sub-Prior of Sussex , was also present .

The annual supper of the members of the above lodge of instruction was held at the Fox and Hounds Hotel , Putney , on Friday , the 27 th ult ., when about 20 sat down to an excellent repast , provided in good style by Bro . W . Scott . Bro . VV . C . Page , P . M ., the

Preceptor , presided , and there ; were also present Bros . A . Grant , Sec . 127 ; J . Spooner , W . M . elect 1656 ; Tom Grant , P . M . 1656 and VV . M . elect 2319 ; J . H . Custance , P . M . 79 s ; W . Tucker , S . W . 79 s ; D . A . Ross , 1656 and 2319 ; J . Maples , P . M . 144 ; Anderson , 2319 ; W . J . Juby , 975 ; Goodden , Mat Kennally , 795 ; E . H . Gram , 8 34 ; J . C Radford , J . Nicholson ,

1656 ; and R . T . West , 1744 . An interesting feature of the proceedings was the presentation to Bro . W . C . Page , P . M ., of a handsome jewel for his able services as Preceptor . Bro . TOM GRANT , P . M ., in presenting the jewel , remarked that Bro . Page was a most painstaking Preceptor , and many had to thank him for what they knew

of the ritual . In acknowledging the beautiful token , Bro . PAGE said that it was a great surprise , and he was honoured that the little he had done was appreciated b y the members . A letter was read from Bro . VV . M . Stiles , P . M ., regretting his inability to attend , in consequence of a

previous engagement . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts having been duly honoured , The President , Iiro . PARK , gave "The Stanhope Lodire . of Instruction . " He said that it had been established for five years , was prosperous , and going on well . The members were working hard , and would

all hereafter give a good account of themselves . He coupled with the toast the name of their energetic Secretary , Bro . A . Grant . Bro . A . GK . stated , in reply , that he had been connected with the lodge for several years , and had only been absent , from the meetings on a very few occasions . Nothing gave him greater pleasure than

attendi g there for instruction . He had gained much knowledge from Bro . Page , and no lodge could have a more worthy Preceptor . In proposing " The Health of the President , Bro . W . C . Page , P . M ., " Bro . J . H . CO . VSIAN-CE , P . M ., said he would have never attempted , and it would have been impossible lor him to have gone through the chair

had it not been lor Bro . Page , and his best thanks were due to him . He had attended many lodges of instruction , but he had found none better than the Stanhope . Bro . PACE , who was well received , responded . He said it was to him a labour of love to teach the ritual to those who were willing to receive instruction , and he hoped that his pupils in the future would turn out

as successful as those in the past . Bro . PAGE proposed "The Visitors , " to which Bro . GOODDHS replied in suitable terms , remarking that years ago he had received good instruction from Bro . Page . Bros . TOM GKANT , Juisv , and MAPLE also bure testimony to the efficient services rendered b y Bro . Page , Bro . Maple giving a graphic account of his

experience with members of the Craft in America . Bro . PAGE said they were honoured with the presence of two W . AI . ' s elect —Bros . Tom Grant and J . Spooner , and he had much pleasure in proposing their health . Iiro . Si'ooNER responded , observing that he was

indebted to Bro . Page lor the great efforts he had made on his behalf . Iiro . T . Gn . \ Nialso replied in a hapoy speech , which he concluded by giving a cordial invitation to all the members to his installation as W . M . of the Scots Lodge on July 2 G 1 . I 1 , and thus ended a pleasant evening .

by Comp . H . J . Lardner , it was unanimously resolved that a vote of congratulation be recorded on the minutes to Comp . Captain Walls upon his appointment as Deputy Grand Director of Ceremonies in the Royal Arch Degree . The report of the Audit Committee , a most satisfactory one , was received and adopted . then closed . A banquet followed . The customary loyal and Arch toasts having been duly honoured , " 1 he Health of the M . E . Z . " was proposed by Comp . Jas . Terry , and warmly recei-ed . Comp . C . Sims , in reply , expressed his acknowledgments to the proposer ot the toast for the kind manner in which he had spoken of him . His career in Masonry had not

been altogether an uneventful one . He had passed the Craft chair twice . It was not for hirn to sing his own praises , but he would say that he had discharged the duties ot those positions to the best of his ability . It was his intention during the recess t > study to obtain proficiency in the Koyal Arch Degree , and he trusted to be ab ' e to do the work in a manner worthy of the high reputation that the chapter S" deservedly held i i Masonic circles .

" The Health id the Second Principal " tolloaed , and to which Comp . A . Dennis responded . In giving the toast ot "The Installing Officer , " the M . E . Z . said that the chapter owed a debt of gratitude to Comp . James Terry . He believed he wasjustilied in stating that witn two exceptions their highly respected companion had discharged the duties of Installing Ollicer ever since the chapter WAS consecrated .

Comp . Terry , in reply , thanked the M . E . Z . for his kind remarks . He said it was true that he had had the piivilege of installing the Principals with two exceptions since he had the hon ur of cons crating the chapter . Denholme , M . E . Z . 6 9 . There was a large attendance of companions from the various chapters , as great interest was centred in the presentation to Comp . Macnaughton , the Treasurer , of four jewels , consisting of the Mark , Royal Ark Mariners , Red Cross Knights , and the Royal Arch . Comp . Bradshaw , in making the

presentation , said there were few men in the province who had exhibited the zeal he had in Royal Arch Masonry . For years he had been Treasurer of their chapter , and they could not persuade him to take any higher post . Financial matters seemed to absorb his interest . No doubt this was attributable to his being a branch bank manager of the Commercial Bank of Scotland . He said that Mother Kilwinning , No . o , had more than once paid a high tribute to her faithful son , in a very substantial form . The chapter was then closed .

Aide-de-Camp England , a special meeting of this celebrated preceptory was held on Saturday , the 12 th instant , in the rooms of the Phcenix Lodge , when Comp . Colonel W . R . Campbell was installed as a

Knight of the Order , the ceremony being admirably conducted by the Vice-Chancellor , Sir Knight Gen . Hay , C . B ., in the presence of theV . E . Great Sub-Prior , Loid Euston , who had come down from London specially , accompanied by the following officers : Sir Knights Loveland-Loveland , Belton , Balfour Cockburn , Clifford Probyn , C F . The annual supper of the members of the above lodge of instruction was held at the Fox and Hounds Hotel , Putney , on Friday , the 27 th ult ., when about 20 sat down to an excellent repast , provided in good style by Bro . W . Scott . Bro . VV . C . Page , P . M ., the

Preceptor , presided , and there ; were also present Bros . A . Grant , Sec . 127 ; J . Spooner , W . M . elect 1656 ; Tom Grant , P . M . 1656 and VV . M . elect 2319 ; J . H . Custance , P . 1656 ; and R . T . West , 1744 . An interesting feature of the proceedings was the presentation to Bro . W . C . Page , P . M ., of a handsome jewel for his able services as Preceptor . Bro . TOM GRANT , P . M ., in presenting the jewel , remarked that Bro . Page was a most painstaking Preceptor , and many had to thank him for what they knew

of the ritual . In acknowledging the beautiful token , Bro . PAGE said that it was a great surprise , and he was honoured that the little he had done was appreciated b y the members . A letter was read from Bro . VV . M . Stiles , P . M ., regretting his inability to attend , in consequence of a

previous engagement . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts having been duly honoured , The President , Iiro . PARK , gave "The Stanhope Lodire . of Instruction . " He said that it had been established for five years , was prosperous , and going on well . The members were working hard , and would

all hereafter give a good account of themselves . He coupled with the toast the name of their energetic Secretary , Bro . A . Grant . Bro . A . GK . stated , in reply , that he had been connected with the lodge for several years , and had only been absent , from the meetings on a very few occasions . Nothing gave him greater pleasure than

attendi g there for instruction . He had gained much knowledge from Bro . Page , and no lodge could have a more worthy Preceptor . In proposing " The Health of the President , Bro . W . C . Page , P . M ., " Bro . J . H . CO . VSIAN-CE , P . M ., said he would have never attempted , and it would have been impossible lor him to have gone through the chair

had it not been lor Bro . Page , and his best thanks were due to him . He had attended many lodges of instruction , but he had found none better than the Stanhope . Bro . PACE , who was well received , responded . He said it was to him a labour of love to teach the ritual to those who were willing to receive instruction , and he hoped that his pupils in the future would turn out

as successful as those in the past . Bro . PAGE proposed "The Visitors , " to which Bro . GOODDHS replied in suitable terms , remarking that years ago he had received good instruction from Bro . Page . Bros . TOM GKANT , Juisv , and MAPLE also bure testimony to the efficient services rendered b y Bro . Page , Bro . Maple giving a graphic account of his

experience with members of the Craft in America . Bro . PAGE said they were honoured with the presence of two W . AI . ' s elect —Bros . Tom Grant and J . Spooner , and he had much pleasure in proposing their health . Iiro . Si'ooNER responded , observing that he was

indebted to Bro . Page lor the great efforts he had made on his behalf . Iiro . T . Gn . \ Nialso replied in a hapoy speech , which he concluded by giving a cordial invitation to all the members to his installation as W . M . of the Scots Lodge on July 2 G 1 . I 1 , and thus ended a pleasant evening .
