ORDERS OF CHIVALRY .
RED CROSS OF ROME AND CONSTANTINE BIRMINGHAM . —Rose of Sharon Conclave , No . 19 . — On Thursday , the 17 th inst ., a new conclave of this illustrious Order was consecrated at the Masonic Rooms , Newhall-street , Birmingham . The impressive ceremony was ably performed by the 111 . Sir Knt . J . Daniel Moore , M . D ., Inspector General for North Lancashire , who travelled to Birmingham
expressly , at the request of the brethren , for that purpose . Having instilled several Knights as founders , Inspector General Moore enthroned the Rev . AV . Bramwell Smith . P . Prov . G . Chaplain for AVarwickshire , as the first M . P . S . of the Rose of Sharon Conclave : after which Sir Knt . T . Partridge , M . D ., was inducted into the chair of Viceroy , and
Sir Knts . L . AA ' right , C . A . Newnham , and G . S . Phillips were also admitted into the Priestly Order . The following officers were then appointed , all being earnest and zealous brethren : —C . A . Newnham . S . C . ; G . S Phillips , . I . G . ; Lyons AVright , H . P . ; T . Dixon Miller . Treasurer ; A . Horrocks , Recorder ; John Astlev , Prefect ; J . S . Kennedy , S . B . ; AA .
Heeley , Sentinel . The Conclave was then closed , after the expression of the wannest thanks of the founders to the 111 . Inspector General for his attendance and the great assistance he has rendered to promote tlie formation of a Conclave in . Birmingham . AVe are info-mod that Bro . Major Machen , the popular and highly-respected Deputy Prov . Grand Master for AA ' nrwickshire , was unavoidably
prevented from attending for installation upon this auspicious occasion , hut it is understood that the Major will soon bo installed , and assume the position of Inspector General for the Warwickshire division , to which he will be nominated by Lord Kenlis , the Supreme Chief of the Order , who , we may tike thin opportunity of stating , was never more attached to its interests than he is at the present time .
On Saturday last , at St . James ' s Hall . Piccadilly , Bro . Joseph Eldred , o * the Gaiety Theatre , gave a dramatic and musical matinee . Professionals as a rule have much spare time on their bands , iind it was judicious on the part of Bro . Eldred to select from the various theatres actors and singers of
wellknown celebrity . Ihe entertainment was in every way a success , the large hall being filled with a fashionable audience , who literally beseiged Bro . Austin ' s ticket oilice . The programme contained some celebrated names , viz ,: —Miss Constance Losebv , Miss Mellor ( a pupil of Br . 15 . M . De Solla ) ,
Miss Maria Simpson , Miss Katherine Hickson , Kate Gordon , Bro . AValter Joyce and Edward Murray , whose singing was greeted with loud applause . Mr . Geo . Belmore recited the " Frenchman and the Rats , " Lydia Maitland nnd Mr . Robin ' s short sketch of" Five " Minutes at altailway Station , "
was cleverly done . Mr . Herman Vesdii ' s recitals well-merited the . applause given them . Bro . Thomas Thorite ' s song of " Poor Susian , " was excellent . The chief feature however , was Bro . . 1 . L . Toole ' s imitations of " London Actors , " comnieneeing with
Mr . Phelps and finishing with Messrs . Buckstone and R . Uomur . Bro . Eldrcd's recital of " My Lord Tom Noddy" was capital . It is to be hoped that theso recitals will be repeated , the above having been so highly satisfactory .
