for election of W . M ., and by an unanimous vote Bro . W . Drewett was appointed the successor to Bro . Chapman . Bro . Long , P . M ., was with one voice re-elected Treasurer , and that Bro . Gilbert retains the confidence of the lodge was proved by his being voted again to the post of Tyler . On the motion of Bro . Long it was resolved to present the out-going Master with a jewel in commemoration of his

tenure of office . Bro . Long offered to represent the Dobie Lodge at the Girls' Centenary Festival , and his offer was gratefully accepted , as all the brethren know that he will not go empty-handed . Bro . Jas . Edgell had also intimated his willingness to go as Steward to the Benevolent Festival . Lodge being closed , the brethren partook of refreshr . it , and at the proper time Bro . Digby , 933 and 133 , responded to the toast of "The Visitors . "

Eng ., having been read by the Secretary , was ordered to be placed on the minutes , and several other matters of immediate interest and importance only to the lodge having been discussed , the lodge was closed in due form .

having been voted to the widow of a deceased member of the lodge , a P . M . 's jewel was unanimously voted to Bro . H . Wheatley for his excellent services as W . M . during the past year . A proposition for resolution at the next meeting having been banded in , the lodge was duly closed and the brethren adjourned to the banquet . A ., a founder , a Past Master , and ex-Treasurer of No .

1656 . Bro . Chandler , I . P . M ., seconded the proposition , which was carried unanimously . The W . M . then raised Bro . J . H . Gaunt in a manner that left little to be desired . Bro . T . W . Ockenden , W . M ., was then elected to serve the office of Steward at the next Festival of the R . M . I , for Girls , and Bro . Walls gave a notice of motion that the sum of five guineas be placed on his list . Apologies for nonattendance having been received from the Prov . G . M ., the

D . Prov . G . M ., the Prov . G . Sec , and others , the lodge was closed in due form , and the brethren adjourned to refreshment . A few toasts followed , but in consequence of the recent and severe loss which the lodge has sustained by the sudden death of Bro . the Rev . F . J . C . de Crespigny , P . P . G . Chap . Middx ., the proceedings were necessarily shorn of some of those social amenities which lend an additional charm to all Masonic gatherings .

PENDLETON . —Albert Victor Lodge ( No . 1773 ) . —The installation of Bro . Joseph Harrop , P . M ., took place on Friday , the 18 th instant , in the Town Hall , the Installing Master being Bro . S . Statham , P . M ., P . P . G . Treas . Both brethren are well-known and highly esteemed in Masonic circles in and around Manchester , and were founders of the lodge nine years ago . They

have taken great interest in the welfare of the lodge since its foundation , and in one case ( that of Bro . Statham ) , his services in Freemasonry were recognised some years ago by the brethren electing him Prov . G . Treas . Honours will , by the time this report is in print have been conferred upon [ Bro . Harrop , who has received and accepted the past rank of Prov . S . G . D . Bro . Harrop has been for

A very handsome set of richly engraved electroplated working tools , in an elegant case , was presented to

the lodge by Bro . T . Kay , P . M . The W . M ., Bro . Harrop , on behalf of the lodge , thanked Bro . Kay most cordially for his handsome present . 1 here being no further business , " Hearty good wishes " were expressed by the visitors , and the lodge was closed in due form . A very appropriate set of chants and hymns , arranged by Bro . F . H . Dale , I . P . M ., were

sung and chanted during the ceremony . The brethren subsequently celebrated the Festival of St . John with a banquet that gave complete satisfaction to all present . Alter the banquet the Worshipful Master proposed the preliminary , loyal , and Masonic toasts . Bro . J . L . Hine , P . P . J . G . W ., in the briefest of speeches responded for " The Prov . Grand Officers . "

"The Health of the W . M . " was proposed by Bro . Dale , I . P . M ., and drunk most heartily , after which Bro . Almond sang "Here's to his health , " and the VV . M . repiied . The Worshipful Master next proposed "The Health of the I . P . M ., Bro . F . H . Dale , " and in so doing dwelt on the great interest he had taken in the welfare of the lodge

since he joined it , also on the many sacrifices he had made of his professional engagements in order to be present and fulfil his duties as VV . M . Bro . Harrop also expressed the gratitude of himself and the members generally for the , pleasure Bro . Dale had afforded them with his vocal and instrumental talent , which had added greatly to the enjoyment of all present on many

occasions . In conclusion , Bro . Harrop said he was very pleased that Bro . Dale had accepted the office of Organist , a concession which all the members would thoroughly appreciate . As a slight token of the esteem in which Bro . Dale was held he ( Bro . Harrop ) felt great satisfaction in presenting him with a P . M . ' s gold jewel , and trusted he would live for many years to wear it amongst them . ( The jewel

and box of working tools before mentioned were manufactured by Bro . George Kenning , 47 , Bridge-street , Manchester . ) Bro . Dale returned thanks in a few well chosen sentences . " The Health of the Visiting Brethren " was ably proposed by Bro . Samuel Statham , P . M ., P . P . G . T ., and responded to by Bros . N . Nicholson , P . M . 723 ; Evan

Other toasts , including "The Installing Master , " "The Newly-Invested Officers , " "The Masonic Charities , " & c , were proposed and responded to , a very pleasant evening being spent . The intervals between the toasts were enlivened with songs from Bros . J . W . Almond , Charles Turner , C . Oldham , F . H . Dale , and others .

JUSTICE LODGE ( No . itf ) . —A meeting was held on Thursday , the 17 th inst ., at the Brown Bear , High-street , Deptford , when there were present Bros . Faulkner , W . M . ; Turpin , S . W . Couldrey , J . W . j Speight , P . M ., Sec . ; Dandridge , S . D . ; H . Miller , J . D . j Jenkins , l . G . ; Hatchings , P . M ., Preceptor ; Prior , Leng , Keylock , Penrose , Emblin , Haire , and Vatcky . The lodge was opened ill the First Degree , and , after the

conformation of the minutes , was advanced to the Second Degree . The usual questions were answered by Bro . Keylock , and the lodge was opened in the Third Degree . The ceremony of raising was rehearsed . The lodge tvas closed down to the First Degree , and a cordial vote of thanks was given to Bro , Faulkner for the very able manner in which he discharged the duties of the chair . All business being ended , the lodge was closed .

was rehearsed , Bro . Talbot personating the candidate . Bro . Priest answered the questions leading to the Second Degree , and was entrusted with a test of merit . was rehearsed , Bro . Hill candidate . Lodge was called off , and resumed . Bro . Cama vacated the chair in favour of Bro . Hill . Bro . Clark ollered himself as a candidate for passing , answered the usual questions , and was examined and entrusted . Lodge opened in the Second Degree , and the ceremony of passing was rehearsed , Bro . Hill having vacated the chair , the VV . M . resumed the same . Lodge resumed to the First Degree . It was proposed , seconded , and carried unanimously , that Bro . Eyer become a joining member .

Long it was resolved to present the out-going Master with a jewel in commemoration of his

sung and chanted during the ceremony . The brethren subsequently celebrated the Festival of St . John with a banquet that gave complete satisfaction to all present . Grand Officers . "

"The Health of the W . M . " was proposed by Bro . Dale , I . P . M ., and drunk most heartily , after which Bro . Almond sang "Here's to his health , " and the VV . M . repiied . The Worshipful Master next proposed "The Health of the I . P . M ., Bro . F . H . Dale , " and in so doing dwelt on the great interest he had taken in the welfare of the lodge

since he joined it , also on the many sacrifices he had made of his professional engagements in order to be present and fulfil his duties as VV . M . Bro . Harrop also expressed the gratitude of himself and the members generally for the , pleasure Bro . Dale had afforded them with his vocal and instrumental talent , which had added greatly to the enjoyment of all present on many

occasions . In conclusion , Bro . Harrop said he was very pleased that Bro . Dale had accepted the office of Organist , a concession which all the members would thoroughly appreciate . As a slight token of the esteem in which Bro . Dale was held he ( Bro . Harrop ) felt great satisfaction in presenting him with a P . M . opened in the Third Degree , and the ceremony of raising rehearsed , Bro , Biorn being candidate . The lodge was called off and on , and resumed to the L'hst Degree , when the ceremony ot initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Weston candidate . The Secretary , Bro . Thomas , was elected W , M . for the ensuing week , ana the officers were appointed in rotation . Ail Masonic business being ended , after " Hearty good wishes , " the lodge was closed . The ceremony of installation will be rehearsed on Tuesday , the 29 th instant .
