After the cloth was removed the Worshipful Alaster proposed the toasts of "The Queen and the Craft , " and "H . R . H . the Prince of Wa ! es , ~ iM . VV . Grand Master of England , " and said that her Majesty had in her absence from public ceremonials an excellent substitute in the person of her son , our Prince and
Grand Alaster , who was always happy when doing his duties and never better pleased than when pleasing the people . Alasonry had made rapid strides under his presidency , and his Royal Highness would always find time among his multitudinous duties and pleasures to preside as the head of the Cralt . "The Pro G . AL , Earl of Carnarvon ; thc Deputy G . M .,
Lord lathom ; and the Officers of Grand Lodge" was next given with a few appropriate remarks by Bro . Bird , P . P . G . S . W . "The R . W . Provincial Alaster , Viscount Holmesdale , M . P ., " was then given from the chair . The Worshipful Alaster in proposing the toast of " The V . W . the D . P . G . AL , Bro . Eastes , and Prov . Grand Officers Present and Past , " said the brethren had heard the letter
read from Bro . Eastes by the Secretary , regretting his inability to attend owing to indispositions . He , the W . AL , could testify to the kindness and courtesy of Bro . Eastes in attending to the technical details of lodges , having had correspondence with him , and thought he might justly say Bro . Eastes gave in his office general satisfaction . Bro . Rev . Harrison , M . A ., P . AL 109 G , P . P . G . C , whose
name had been coupled with that toast , returned thanks on behalf of the D . P . G . AL , whom he said was the right man in the right place . Bro . Emmerson , P . AL 120 G and P . P . G . J . W ., then gave "The Health of the W . AL" in flattering terms , and alluded to the fact of his re-election and ot the esteem in which thev held him .
The Worshipful Master returned thanks , and next gave " Prosperity to neighbouring lodges , " which was responded to by Bros . Band , VV . AI . 109 G , and Prescott , W . AL 199 . Bro . Apps , P . AL , P . G . J . D ., then gave "The Health of the Installing Alaster , Bro . Bird . " He said it always afforded him the liveliest satisfaction to be present on these occasions , and he thought on the last occasion the
ceremony was rendered as well as jiossiblc , but on this occasion it was still better . Bro . Bird , whose rising was thc signal for a hearty ovation from the brethren , said in thanking them all for their kindness and cordiality it was a maxim he learned at school that what was worth doing at all was worth doing well , and to his steadfast adherence to that truth he attributed much
of his success in life . The time would certainly come when through failing memory perhaps or bodily infirmity he should retire before some younger brother , and he thought he could look with pleasure on some other to take his place . "The Alasonic Charities" was responded to by Bro . Emmerson , whose name is so often associated with that excellent virtue by officiating as Steward to one or other of our noble Institutions .

Bro . Rev . AL , P . G .
