The meeting was a most successful one , whilst the banquet and proceedings that followed were very enjoyable , some capital songs being rendered by Bros . J . Andrew , K . Robinson , T . Hassall , and R . R . Lisenden . MARKET RASEN . —Bayons Lodge ( No . 12 S 6 . ) The installation meeting of this flourishing little lodge was held on Monday , the 22 nd inst . There was a fair attendance of the brethren . In the unavoidable absence of the

ALDERSHOT . —Camp Lodge ( No . 1331 ) . —The installation meeting of this Iodge took place on VVednesday , the 10 th inst ., at the Alasonic Hall . Present : Bros . Eve , P . M ., P . P . G . W . ; Capt . Croisdale , P . M ., P . P . G . S . B . ; Alajor Douglas , P . AL , P . P . G . S . B . ; Col . Richardson , P . AL , P . P . G . D . ; Quarter-Alaster Cole , P . AL , P . P . G . P . ; Andrews , P . AL 1046 ; Pomeroy , P . AL 723 ; Yond , P . AL 723 ; Hall , P . M . 142 S ; and about thirty others .
After the confirmation of the minutes , Bro . Lewis , the outgoing Alaster , proceeded to install his successor , Bro . Adams , the ceremony being performed in a most efficient manner . The officers were invested as follows : Bros . Robinson , S . W . ; Barlow , J . VV . ; Capt . Croisdale , P . AI ., Treas . ; Alajor Douglas , P . AL , Sec . ; Todd , S . D . ; Sexton , J . D . ; Campbell , I . G . ; and Hill , Tyler . At the conclusion of the installation ceremony the
Worshipful Alaster , in a few well chosen words presented Bro . Lewis , LP . AL , with a valuable Past Alaster ' s jewel which had been voted to him by the lodge in recognition of his excellent services during his year of office . The presentation was suitably acknowledged by Bro . Lewis , I . P . AI ., who spoke of the pleasure which he had experienced in doing his best for the lodge during the period he had held office therein .
Bro . Capt . Croisdale , P . M ., P . P . G . Swd . Br ., then brought under the notice of the brethren the circumstance of their esteemed R . W . P . G . AL , Bro . Beach , being about to preside at the next anniversary of the Royal Masonic Institution for Girls , and urged the needs and claims of the institution to their support , and concluded his appeal by proposing that a donation of £ 5 5 s . in addition to the usual subscriptions should be voted out of the lodge funds
and handed to Bro . Eve , P . AL and P . P . G . W ., who he informed the brethren had very kindly consented to act as Steward on this occasion . The money was at once unanimously voted , and subsequently augmented by a further grant of £ 5 5 s . out of the funds of the Charitable Association which has been established in connection with the lodge . Bro . Alajor Douglas , P . AL , P . P . G . S . B ., was then elected as the representative of the lodge at tbe next meetinir of
the Provincial Grand Committee for the revision of the bye-laws of the province of Hants and Isle of Wi ght , to be held at Basingstoke on the 30 th inst . Bro . Capt . Croisdale , P . M ., & c , then proposed that a voteof thanks should be tendered to the LP . AL for the admirable way in which he had performed the duties of Installing Officer that day . He considered Bro . Lewis had set a bright example to his successors in the chair of K . S .,
which he hoped they would not be slow to follow . He congratulated him upon the impressive manner . in which he had delivered the addresses , and urged the newly-installed officers to thoroughly master all the details of their work and thereby maintain the high character the Iodge had now acquired for its efficiency . The lodge was then closed , and the brethren adjourned for refreshment . After this had been discussed the usual
loyal and Alasonic toasts were duly honoured . Bro . Eve , P . AL and P . P . G . W ., in responding for "The Provincial Grand Officers , " said he felt it a great honour to have his name associated with the distinguished brethren named in the toast ; he assured the VV . M . that the Prov . Grand Officers present felt it to be a great privilege in having been present at the interesting ceremony of the day . The outgoing Alaster he had known for many years , and
he was especially pleased to find him taking so active an interest in Alasonry ; and as regards the Alaster who had been placed in the chair that day , he was well-known to be a good Alason and to be a genial good fellow who would follow in the footsteps of his worthy predecessors and infuse into all their Alasonic proceedings that geniality and cordiality which would make their attendance at lodge a pleasure . On behalf of the Provincial Grand Officers he
thanked them heartily for thc way in which the toast had been received ; he felt he should be wasting their time unnecessarily if he were to dilate on the past services of the Prov . Grand Officers . They were aware that those brethren had worked hard for the welfare of the Craft , and the R . W . Prov . Grand Alaster had selected and ajipointed them to their present positions as a reward for their past Alasonic services . The reception invariably received bv
the Provincial Grand Officers at the various lodges in the province was a clear proof , if any were needed , that the brethren generally considered they had fairly earned the honour which had been conferred upon them by their R . W . Prov . Grand Master . The Immediate Past Alaster proposed "The Health of the Worshipful Alaster , " and remarked that there had been many pleasant duties which it had fallen to his lot to
perform , but this was the most pleasant of all , and if they were to travel all over the globe he did not think they would lind a brother better fitted for the duties he had undertaken than their esteemed Bro . Adams , and he could assure his worthy brother they would all do their utmost to make his year of ollice a thorough success . The Worshipful Master resjjonded in a neat little speech , in which he assured the brethren that he would not yield to anyone in his love for Freemasonry and in an earnest desire

to emulate the efficiency for which the Past Alasters of their lodge had ever been distinguished ; and he concluded by asking the brethren to drink "The Health of the Past Masters , " which drew from all present a most hearty response . Bro . Eve , P . AL and P . P . G . W ., responded on behalf of "The Alasonic Charities , " saying he felt sure all present
were fully impressed with the good work accomplished by those admirable Institutions . He maintained that our three Alasonic Charities are the three greatest philanthropic institutions ever established in this kingdom . It is true the funds were sometimes diverted to purposes which he considered altogether outside Alasonry , for a good and noble purpose no doubt , and he felt therefore that " on the whole they were
well and wisely administered . He then gave a few statistics , and said the amount of money raised yearly for the support of our Alasonic Charities was a thing of which any part of the world might be proud . He concluded an admirable speech by expressing a hope that the brethren would do their utmost to support their R . W . P . G . AL at the
forthcoming festival . Bro . Eve , having undertaken the office of Steward , said he should be most happy to receive their donations . Several other toasts were proposed and responded to , the intervals between the toasts being enlivened by music , glees , songs , & c , and the Tyler ' s toast brought a most enjoyable Alasonic evening to a close .

Shackles ' s acceptance a very handsome and chaste Past Alaster ' s jewel subscribed for by all the members of the token of the
lodge , as a very high esteem in which Bro . Shackles was held , and as some small recognition by the brethren of the services rendered and of thc way in which the duties of the chair for two successive years had been carried out by him ; and in placing such jewel on the breast of Bro . Shackles as a symbol of the fraternal feelings of each member of the Alexandra Lodge , and wishing him all health to wear it for many
many years to come , he ( Bro . Wells ) might be allowed to say he felt there were few Alasons who by the good suit and service done to Freemasonry deserved more fully all the honours it was possible for the Iodge to bestow . Bro . Shackles was both a young man and a young Alason , having taken office as l . G . only five years ago , then Deacon , Warden , and twice in the chair , and yet both in the Craft and the Arch , his heart and soul being in his work , his Alasonic career had been so marked and so valued

P . ; Andrews , P .

Bro . G . only five years ago , then Deacon , Warden , and twice in the chair , and yet both in the Craft and the Arch , his heart and soul being in his work , his Alasonic career had been so marked and so valued
