France Lodge two years since left me a souvenir ot pride , tempered with wounded self-love . Pride , because it is an honour to see our rites adopted by Frenchmen as their model . Mortification , to see that those foreign brethren throw us into the shade ( as is proved by their admirable president , Comp . St . Clair ) by the good taste , fluency , and Siunitv which adorns their mode of performing Masonic
rites . Here , Most Excellent , we contribute our traditions , yourselvesbring fluency and gracein giving them expression . As in marriage , the husband and wife learn from one another , and seem to improve with years , so it will be with us * we shall be like the carbon points of an electric light , relatively insignificant while apart , we will shine brightly when we are in touch .
Comp . Lacoste also replied , and said that he was greatly impressed with the ceremony , and very pleased to see the success attained by the French chapter . The M . E . Z . then proposed " The Health of the Past Principals , " mentioning that all the companions knew their worth , and that no Masons had more thoroughly deserved the honours of Grand Lodge and Grand Chapter bestowed
upon them than the two Comps . Monteuuis and Bue , whom they trusted would long be spared to share their honours with the companions of La France Chapter . Comps . Monteuuis and Bue having both replied , the M . E . Z . gave the toast of " The Officers , " which was replied to by Comp . Saillard , P . S ., and the T y ler ' s toast ended one of the most enjoyable Masonic evenings of the

This splendid hall , most tastefully painted and panelled in proper Masonic colours , and adorned with numerous banners , paintings , portraits , old warrants , and various Masonic curios , now presents one of the most striking and handsome lodge rooms with which we a ** e acquainted , and we strongly recommend all members of our Institution , who may for a time be sojourners in this island
