Johnson , " was duly honoured , who in reply , thanked the brethren for the handsome vellum which had just been presented to him , together with the Past Master ' s jewel , which he would value to the end of time .

In responding to " The Masonic Charities , " Bro . Tijou p leaded most earnestly on behalf of the funds of the " Old Folks , " who this year were celebrating their Jubilee . For " The Visitors" Bro . R . A . Germaine , L . C . C , in a humorous speech , congratulated the lodge on the efficiency of its officers , and the hearty manner in which they received the brethren of other lodges .

"The Officers" was responded to bytheS . W ., who claimed the assistance of the members to make his list as Steward representing the lodge at the Festival of the Old People worthy of the Bromley St . Leonard Lodge , and proposed a vote of thanks to Miss Jessie McLaren ( of the Guildhall School of Music ) , Bro . Professor Leipold , and the other brethren who kindly assisted to make the meeting one of very brilliant success by contributing the following

HORSHAM . Mid-Sussex Lodge ( No . 1141 ) . —The annual installation meetingof this lodge washeldatthe King's Head , on Monday , the 15 th inst . The influenza had a decided effect upon the attendance which , owing to the epidemic , was smaller than it has been for many years past . Bro . J . G . Buttifant was duly installed W . M ., assisted by the Past Masters of the lodge . There was an exceptionally large attendance of brethren . 'The chair was occupied by Bro . T . Gillibrand .

W . M ., who initiated Mr . William H . Daniels . Bro . Conway , P . M ., took the chair , and appointed as his Installing Officers Bros . G . C . Williams , P . M ., as S . W . j H . Daniels , P . M ., as J . W . ; and N . Dumville , P . M ., P . P . G . Stwd ., as LG . The installation ceremony of Bro . William Batt was performed by Bro . Conway in such a manner that brought forth the unanimous praise of all who

had the pleasure of listening to it . He also gave the address to the VV . M . in a most effective manner , although suddenly called upon to do it . The officers were invested and addressed by Bro . Bro . Gillibrand with a very handsome Past Master's jewel , subscribed for by the brethren . The two are very old friends , and Bro . Conway ' s remarks were most congenial to himself , and the genuine sentiment of what he said sank into the hearts of all present . At the close so effective was his speech that the brethren gave way to hearty cheers . Bro . Gillibrand responded in a short but neat speech ,

thanking them all tor the valuable jewel they had presented him with , and he presented a gold charm to his Secretary , Bro . J . Crompton , for the great . servi ' ces he had rendered to him during his year of office , and in his remarks he observed that Bro . J . Crompton was a Secretary who was equalled by few and excelled by none . Bro . J . Crompton responded , and all business being completed , the

Johnson , " was duly honoured , who in reply , thanked the brethren for the handsome vellum which had just been presented to him , together with the Past Master ' s jewel , which he would value to the end of time .

In responding to " The Masonic Charities , " Bro . Tijou p leaded most earnestly on behalf of the funds of the " Old Folks , " who this year were celebrating their Jubilee . For " The Visitors" Bro . R . A . Germaine , L . C . C , in a humorous speech , congratulated the lodge on the efficiency of its officers , and the hearty manner in which they received the brethren of other lodges .

"The Officers" was responded to bytheS . W ., who claimed the assistance of the members to make his list as Steward representing the lodge at the Festival of the Old People worthy of the Bromley St . Leonard Lodge , and proposed a vote of thanks to Miss Jessie McLaren ( of the Guildhall School of Music ) , Bro . Conway ' s remarks were most congenial to himself , and the genuine sentiment of what he said sank into the hearts of all present . At the close so effective was his speech that the brethren gave way to hearty cheers . Bro . Gillibrand responded in a short but neat speech ,

thanking them all tor the valuable jewel they had presented him with , and he presented a gold charm to his Secretary , Bro . J . Crompton , for the great . servi ' ces he had rendered to him during his year of office , and in his remarks he observed that Bro . J . Crompton was a Secretary who was equalled by few and excelled by none . Bro . J . Crompton responded , and all business being completed , the
