'The portiait , which is finished in black and white , is life-size , and is from the studio ol Mr . Thompson , T . itnam-street . It is an excellent representation of the dectased brother , and reflects great credit upon Air .

Unvelling A Portrait Of The Late Bro. Alberman Levy.

Hudson mentioned that he owed his introduction to Freemasonry to the late Bro . Alderman Levy . The deceased was initiated in the Palatine Lodge so far back as iSqi , and assumed

the Master ' s chair in 1 S 57 . A few months afterwards a leading light in Freemasonry—Bro . T . Hardy—died , and his place Jwas filled b y Bro . Levy for nearly 40 years . By his dignified and effective rendering of their ceremonies , the late alderman eclipsed all who

had g-one before him in this respect , and his fame spread over that and the neighbouring provinces , so much so that no special Masonic function was considered complete without he was present and took an active part . The portrait he had unveiled would be a fitting memento of an excellent Mason and a good man .

At the conclusion of the proceedings , Bro . J . R . PATTISON , P . M ., thanked Bro . Hudson in fitting terms , on behalf of the lodge , for his kindness in coming to perform the ceremony .

A complimentary dinner was given to Bro . Capt . T . C . Walls * G . Std . Br ., at Anderton ' s Hotel , Fleet-street , on the 23 rd inst ., when a substantial testimonial was presented to him in appreciation of the important and varied services he has rendered to Freemasonry during

the past 21 years . The testimonial consisted of a handsomely illuminated address on vellum , bound in calf , and containing the names of the donors , complete sets of Grand Lodge and Grand Chapter clothing with jewels , a silver tea and coffee service ( four pieces ) , one cake basket , one bread basket , one claret jug , pair trifle baskets , one dozen tea spoons , one sugar

tongs , pair empire ormulu gilt and bronze candelabra , one silver tea kettle complete with lamp , pair hot water jugs with wicker handles , and a diamond and pearl bracelet for Airs . Walls . After a well-served dinner , which reflected the highest credit on Bro . Clemow , the PRESIDENT gave " The Queen and the Craft , " and " H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , M . W . G . M . " The VRESIUEST then said the next business was the presentation to Bro . Capt . Walls . There were Grand Officers and Grand Officers—some of whom

reminded him of the fly in the amber . They did not like the fly , but wondered how he got there . That was not the case with the brother who for nine years had done his duty on the Board of General Purposes . There were four or five Grand Officers whose health was always deservedly well received—Bros . Sir John B . Monckton , Fenn , Philbrick , Grey , and Letchworth ,

who were a credit to the Craft . Bro . Walls had been a Freemason for over 21 years , and had filled he knew not how many offices . He could not enumerate all those offices , and doubted if there ever had been , or ever would be , such a record . Bro . Walls had filled offices in most of the 33 Masonic lodges and chapters he belonged to , and had done credit to every Society ,

and in adduicn to that the good will of the brethren had been shown b y returning him for nine years to the Board of General Purposes . On that Board Bro . Walls always said something worth listening to , for he knew the various questions discussed . Their guest had also been on the Committee of seven Grand Treasurers , only one of whom had not subscribed to

that testimonial . A . s far as the testimonial was concerned , there had been nearly 200 subscribers , and the amount subscribed exceeded ^ 200 . A brother in the room had handed him the following lines : " Many posts in the Craft he still serves . From his duty he never swerves . We ' ve met here to-night , to do that which is ri ght ,

And present him with what he deserves , " In asking the brethren present to drink Bro . Walls ' health , they would all hope he would be spared to Freemasonry for many , many years . Bro . W .
