Our attention has been drawn to a report of the speech of the Right Hon . Lord Leigh , P . G . M . for Warwickshire , & c , at the Girls' School Festival on the 10 th . In proposing " The Health of the Duke of Connaught , " Lord Leigh is reported to have said " We are about to have a new Prince joined to the Royal Family , who is to be the next Grand Master of the province . " What his lordship did say was , " He congratulated the Duke of Connaught on the marriage of the Dukeof Albany , the Provincial Grand Master of Oxfordshire . "

To the Editor of the "Freemason . " Dear Sir and Brother , — I cannot follow " A P . P . Grand Officer . " Why has he selected the number of six ? Some of his names appear to me very absurd , such as " London . " In this respect Bro . Stevens ' s proposal has the

advantage on the score of simplicity and directness . But I doubt very much whether District be as good a name as Provincial ; and , above all , I fear whether we are not in danger of forming Grand Lodges within Grand Lodges , an "imperium in imperio , " unless we are very careful . I think it just possible that there is a solution

possible and rational settlement of the whole question , namely , the formation of two or more Provincial Grand Lodges for Middlesex , and which creation might be defended on more grounds than one , which , as the discussion proceeds , I shall be glad to be permitted to point out . Indeed , the whole question of Provincial Grand Lodges

requires consideration , as I am one of those who venture to be of opinion , in which I hear I am not singular , that the time has fairly come when some of our larger provinces might be safely divided , with good effects to Freemasonry in general and particular . At the same time we must not

forget that all we can say or do is by suggestion . His Royal Highness the Grand Master alone has the prerogative of appointing Provincial or District Grand Masters . 1 am , dear Sir and Brother , fraternally yours , ANOTHER P . P . GRAND OFFICER .

Allah has given to all men , says one of our Arabic proverbs , twoeyesjto see and two ears to hear , but only one tongue to speak with and one hand able to hold a pen . We are to learn from this that we should only tell one half what we see or hear .
