Callasvay , B . W . Allan , and C . Fumagalli , Stwds . The addresses were rendered by the Installing Master , Bro . VV . H . Dresden , I . P . M ., who was presented svith a handsome Past Master ' s jewel in recognition of his efficient services during the past year . Lodge svas closed , and an excellent banquet svas follosved by the usual toasts .

Bro . W . H . Dresden , I . P . M ., proposed " The Health of the VV . M ., " and expressed his pleasure at the opportunity afforded him of introducing the toast . Bro . Everitt , svho svas elected at the last meeting , and who had been installed that evening , svas svell knosvn for his good qualities and genial courtesy , and the brethren would therefore drink the toast svith heartiness .

Bro . Frank C . Everitt , W . M ., in reply , said : I thank you very much indeed for the very cordial and hearty manner in which this toast has been received and responded to . I can assure you it gives me very great pleasure to be VV . M . of this lodge , and I trust I shall be able to carry out the duties of the chair to your satisfaction . I know that both the ofiicers and brethren will do their best to support

me in the chair . I have had the p leasure of fulfilling every ofiice in the lodge up to this position , and I have alsvays endeavoured to do my best and fulfil all that was required of me . It has always been a pleasure and labour of love . The W . M . then proposed "The I . P . M ., " and said the svork done by Bro . Dresden that day had been a great credit to himself and the lodge .

Bro . W . H . Dresden , I . P . M ., m response , thanked the VV . M . for the very kind manner in which he had proposed the toast , and for the very kind way in which it svas received . As during the past 12 months he had been called upon to repl y to the toast of " The W . M ., " he had hardly yet felt his feet , but supposed he should get used to his present position in time . He endeavoured to perform the

ceremony of installation that night to the very best of his ability . It made a very great impression on him when he first heard it . Although previously he had a very high opinion of the Craft , it svas very much enhanced the first time he heard the installatiein ceremony , for therein was contained the svhole poetry of Freemasonry . The ritual was very beautiful , but it svas the prose of Freemasonry .

I'he installation ceremony svas the poem of it , but it svas not like the Three Degrees that one heard very frequently , it svas a ceremony that they heard only seldom . He svas more than thankful if he had pleased the VV . M . and brethren . " The Initiates " was next honoured , and appropriatel y responded to , after svhich the VV . M . gave "The Visitors , "

mentioning that they had a goodly array that night both in quantity and quality . Bros . II . Murrell , W . M . 30 ; T . H . Speller , P . M . 49 j J-Bunker , P . M . 115 S ; and others replied . Other toasts were given , and the Tyler ' s toast brought the proceedings to a close . Under the direction of Bro . W . Wright , P . M ., Org ., the lollosving brethren assisted in an excellent musical programme : Bros . Jas . Bayne , Richard Evans , Will Edsvards , » nd Samuel Wright .

svere much appreciated by the brethren . The first duty of the nesvly-installed Master , and , as he remarked , a very pleasing one , svas to present Bro . Lieut . VV . R . Arnold , P . M ., svith a jesvel for his efficient services as Secretary for the past three years , he having requested to be released of the duties this year , as he was stationed at Great Yarmouth , svhere he found it was not quite convenient to effectually fulfil the duties of Secretary . The W . M . marie the presentation in a fesv appropriate svords , svhich svere acknosvledged by Bro . Lieut . W . R . Arnold in suitable

terms . The Iodge svas then closed , and the brethren partook of a superb banquet , svhich svas ably served under the personal superintendence of Bro . Bertini . At the conclusion of the repast , The W . M ., svith commendable brevity , gave the usual loyal and Masonic toasts , svhich svere duly honoured . In responding for "The Grand Officers , Present and

Past , " Bro . Capt . N . G . Philips stated that it gave him much pleasure to be present to svitness the excellent working they had had that night . Bro . J . Lewis Thomas , P . M ., P . G . D . C , also replied . He had hid the good fortune to visit the lodge ever since its consecration , svhen he was honoured by being made an honorary member . The lodge had made wonderful progress , and many of the members were in different parts of the svorld .

In eloquent terms Bro . C . J . Ritchie gave "The Health of the W . M ., " which , he remarked , was the toast of the evening . He said that he svas echoing the feelings of all the members in stating that their excellent Bro . Major Hansard svould make one of the best of W . M . 's . He svould , like his predcessors , carry the lodge on its happy and successful career . He ( the W . M . ) svould follosv their grand motto " Ubique , " and he felt he might justifiably

quote the svords of Tennyson , and claim that they were " Knights svithout fear and svithout reproach . " All W . M . ' s idea svas the advance of Masonry , and to make it knosvn throughout the svorld . In conclusion , he stated that the W . M . svas an enthusaist in Masonry and svould , he felt sure , do everything to promote the interests of the lodge and the comfort of the members . The toast svas drunk svith great enthusiasm , and

Bro . Major Hansard , on rising to respond , had a great reception . He thanked the brethren for the very kind way they had received him . The speeches at the banqueting table gave him a qualm . He felt that because he svas not a good speaker , and it svas difficult for him to reply to the many kind things said of him . He would , hosvever , elo his best , and hopedthe lodge svould not suffer under his Mastership . He trusted the members svould find him plenty of

initiates , svhich svould mean plenty of work for him , and he svould be proud and honoured . The toast of "The Installing Master" svas next given by the W . M . It svas , indeed , an honour for him to have been installed by Bro . Col . Ritchie in so perfect a manner , and he was greatly indebted to him . Bro . Col . Ritchie svas of the lodge and had done much for Masonry , and he hoped he would be with them for very many years to instal

the W . M . 's of the lodge . Bro . Col . Ritchie , on rising , received quite an ovation . In eloquent terms he stated that if he had done anything for the good of the lodge he was more than proud , and svould do his best at any time to assist in any svay to further the interests of the lodge and the members . The Worshipful Master , in propasing " The Past Masters , " observed that they svere the backbone of and

kept the lodge together . Without them a W . M ., however good he mignt be , would be nearly posverless . They were Eroud of them , and he ventured to think that no lodge had etter . They had the interests of the lodge and the regiment at heart . Bro . Col . Turner replied . He had been asvay , and this svas his first attendance after an absence of 11 years , lie svas glad to see the prosperity of the lodge , but he missed

many svhom the Great Leveller had taken from amangst them . He was introduced into the lodge by Bro . Colonel Ritchie , and he svas proud of that honour . The Worshipful Alaster gave the toast of " The Visitors . " They had some distinguished and important ones present , and he gave all a hearty welcome . He coupled the names of Bros . Col . C . E . Vansittart , W . M . 2399 , and W . C . Taylor , W . M . 913 , svho both responded , the last-named

stating that as he svas not a military man , he considered it a great honour in having been asked to respond . He had been there on many occasions , and had knosvn the VV . M . as a good svorking Mason , and in other svays , and he congratulated him on his genial bearing , and for his handsome hospitality and svelcome . fn eulogistic terms , the Worshipful Master gave " The Officers of the Lodge , " remarking that he svas fortunate in having such good officers , to svhich suitable responses svere made .

M ., svho had lately arrived from India , stated that he svas also a member of the lodge held at Rasval Pindi , India , svho had appointed him a Stesvard for the Girls , and brought svith him from that lodge , fGo on his list . He advocated the cause of the daughter of Bro . Capt . Scully , a deceased member of the Ubique Lodge , and urged the members to give to the

Charity-box that evening to enable votes to be purchased for Miss Scully . Bro . Capt . Weston , in eloquent terms , supported the case of Miss Scully , and svho , he thought , if only for the credit of the lodge , ought to be elected at the first application . In response to these appeals , Bro . J , Lesvis Thomas said

he svould give his 50 votes to Miss Scully , and it is also pleasing to record that the contents of the Charity-box for the evening amounted to 10 guineas . Lodge svas closed , and an excellent banquet svas follosved by the usual toasts .

Bro . W . H . Dresden , I . P . M ., proposed " The Health of the VV . M ., " and expressed his pleasure at the opportunity afforded him of introducing the toast . Bro . Bro .

W . Wright , P . svere much appreciated by the brethren .

' s idea svas the advance of Masonry , and to make it knosvn throughout the svorld . In conclusion , he stated that the W . M . svas an enthusaist in Masonry and svould , he felt sure , do everything to promote the interests of the lodge and the comfort of the members . The toast svas drunk svith great enthusiasm , and

initiates , svhich svould mean plenty of work for him , and he svould be proud and honoured .

The Worshipful Master , in propasing " The Past Masters , " observed that they svere the backbone of and

They had the interests of the lodge and the regiment at heart . Bro . Col . Turner replied . He had been asvay , and this svas his first attendance after an absence of 11 years , lie svas glad to see the prosperity of the lodge , but he missed
