Parliament , and had witnessed his distinguished career . During that long time their chairman had been able to win a high position , and the testimony of public regard which could never be effaced . The Duke of Devonshire was many years in that assembly , ami

was now relegated to another , but was still able to do something for the benelit of the State , take that active interest in public life in which he had distinguished himself in the past . His sensible judgment had found ready testimony in public opinion , and the brethren might congratulate themselves heartily that lie

found time to give up for the benefit of Masonry , and rule over an important Province , and preside on these occasions in a most marked way . The Chairman had placed before them the affairs of the Institution in a most able manner , and they should bc

gratcful to him for the manner in which he had advocated U" ' claims of the Institution , and congratulate him upon the success they had had and the liberality of the brethren on . that occasion . The CHAIRMAN thanked them most heartily , both for t '" agreeable and kind terms in which the toast was proposed , a " ' receiv

for the manner in which they had been good enough to it . himself to public life , and they should be grateful to those in Ins position who identilied themselves with the affairs of State , ami took an active interest in everything for the benelit of the nation . He ( Bro . Beach ) remembered his admission to the House ol

Parliament , and had witnessed his distinguished career . During that long time their chairman had been able to win a high position , and the testimony of public regard which could never be effaced . The Duke of Devonshire was many years in that assembly , ami

was now relegated to another , but was still able to do something for the benelit of the State , take that active interest in public life in which he had distinguished himself in the past . His sensible judgment had found ready testimony in public opinion , and the brethren might congratulate themselves heartily that lie

found time to give up for the benefit of Masonry , and rule over an important Province , and preside on these occasions in a most marked way . The Chairman had placed before them the affairs of the Institution in a most able manner , and they should bc

gratcful to him for the manner in which he had advocated U" ' claims of the Institution , and congratulate him upon the success they had had and the liberality of the brethren on . that occasion . The CHAIRMAN thanked them most heartily , both for t '" agreeable and kind terms in which the toast was proposed , a " ' receiv
