Bryce Blair , " and presented him , in the name of the lodge , with a P . M . ' s gold jewel . Other toasts were proposed and responded to , and a pleasant evening was spent . The jewel was manufactured by Bro . George Kenning , 47 , Bridge-street , Manchester .

KINGSTON-ON-THAMES . — Dobie Lodge ( No . 8 S 9 ) . —The meetings of the above lodge were resumed on VVednesday , the 17 th inst ., at the Griffin Hotel , after the summer vacation . The W . There was no working to be done , and the attendance of members , as is generally the case at the October meeting , was but small . The W . M . drew the attention of the brethren to the appearance of the l . P . M . in the purple and gold of Provincial G . office , and congratulated him upon the honour conferred upon him by the Prov . G . M . Two

propositions were made for election and initiation , and , after hearing a highly satisfactory report from Bro . Long as to his Stewardship at the Girls' Centenary , the lodge was closed , and the brethren partook of refreshment . The presence of Bro . Sebastian Hart , P . Grand Chaplain . A ballot was next taken for Mr . Superintendent Smith , and he , being approved and within hail , was admitted and initiated , the ceremony throughout being performed by the W . M ., Bro . Jordan , in a masterly manner . A long discussion then took place on a motion by Bro . Currie , which necessitated an alteration of the bylaws , and ultimately a Committee was appointed to consider a general revision of the by-laws . All business being ended , the lodge was closed .

CANTERBURY . —Royal Military Lodge ( No . 1449 ) . —The annual investiture in connection with this lodge always brings together a large number of the Craft , and on Monday , the Sth inst ., at the installation of Bro , Major H . W . Maclear , the Masonic Temple , in St . Peter'sstreet , was filled to its utmost with a brilliant gathering . The chair was filled at the commencement of the

At the conclusion of the banquet , the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were given and suitably acknowledged . The singing of Bros . Plant , Moulding , Kennett , and Higgins greatly contributed to one of the most successful installations in the annals of the Royal Military Lodge . The Tyler's toast brought this most enjoyable event to a close .
