Beyon ! this a private subscription among the members enabled the brethren to present to him , for the use of himself and Mrs . Norrington , a case of table cutlery and plate , on every article of which his initial was engraven .

It was at the banquet which followed the lodge work that the presentations were made , and the only two long speeches of the evening were the graceful acknowledgment by Bro . Norrington of the brethren's exhibition of their appreciation of his work , and the reply of Bro . Hayes for "The Past Masters , " in which he advised brethren coming un for the chair to depend upon themselves , and not upon

the Past Masters for the execution of the work , and , asserting this position for Bros . Sharratt , Norrington , and himself that they were the trinity of brethren that had brought the Beadon Lodge to its present prosperous condition . Under the direction of Bro . L . A . J . Faull , Organist , the company was entertained with an excellent musical entertainment by Bros . Edwin Bryant , James Chilcott , Frank Swinford , and Alfred Skinner .

They offered him their hearty congratulations , and expressed their hopes that he would have a good year of ofiice . The lodge was in a very prosperous state , owing to the fact that its Past Masters had done all they could—both in the ritual and in their finance—to render it successful .

uro . G . V . Rice , W . M ., in reply , said he did not know how to thank them for the kind manner in which they had drunk his health , and particularly for the way in which the I . P . M . had proposed it . He was not quite such an eloquent man as the I . P . M ., and could gnlysay he sincerely thanked them for the toast . He ( the W . M . ) had been for some years in Freemasonry , and was proud to be the Worshipful Master of this lodge . He had been

connected with another lodge and was glad to see many visitors that evening . He could not say more than that he thanked them , and would do his best during his year of office . "The Initiates" was proposed by the W . M ., who expressed the hope that they would prove working Masons , and was duly responded to . Ihe W . M ., in proposing " The LP . "lenkarn wrote the previous day saying he was unwell , and that day telegraphed to say he was worse . Bro . Catt was calkd upon at a moment's notice to perform 'he ceremony , and was deserving of all praise for the banner in which he had rendered it . Bro . F . V . Catt , P . M ., said he had no idea he should be galled , upon to reply to that toast . He felt he had no right ' ° do so for he did not actually install the Master , although

that would have been no greater pleasure . He deeply deplored the illness of Bro . Blenkarn , and most sincerely hoped he would soon return to strength . In accepting the responsible position of Installing Master , he did so with conlidence , knowing he would be assisted by Bros . Linglcy , P . M ., and Lee , P . M ., to whom he tendered his wannest thanks . He thanked the W . M . and brethren for the

cordial way in which they had received the toast . I he Past Masters always rallied round the W . M ., and if the members were all united and determined to work as one man , the same congratulations would be performed at the end of the year as they had offered that night to the I . P . M . In reply , Bro . Castledine thanked the brethren for so

cordial a reception , and also Bro . Dr . Cock for taking the chair so ably in his absence . He should wear the jewel with pride and sincere gratification as the testimony of the good feeling shown towards him , and would recall one of the happiest recollections of his life . He would take that opportunity of thanking all the brethren and their wives for enabling him during his Mastership to take up such a handsome sum to the Boys' School , which was carrying
