Sleede explained the tracing-board in a faultless manner which well merited the warm applause of the brethren . The lodge was then closed to the first decree , when it was proposed , seconded ,

and unanimously agreed , that five guineas be given out of the funds of the lodge , in aid of the distressed widows and orphans of the fishermen who were lost in the late gale . Hearty good wishes were expressed fol the welfare of the lodj _ e by ihe distinguished visitors and brethren . After which it was closed in due form and the brethren retired to refreshment . The usual loyal and Masonic

toasts were given and duly responded to , including the W . M . Charmcood Lodge , No . 1007 . —This once prosperous lodge , after being dormant for two years <; r more , has just resumed woik with , it is hoped , a good prospect of permanent success . A lodge was summoned some weeks ago for the election of W . M . for the ensuing year , whioh resulted in th- election of Bro . Johu Wilson , a Past Warden of the

lodge , and a meeting was summoned for Thursday , the ISth inst ., at the Bull ' s Head Hotel for his installation , & c . There was a good attendance from the Leicester lodges . Poor Law Auditor , Leicester , who being unanimously elected , were afterwards duly initiated . On the conclusion ofthe

business , the brethren adjourned to a banquet , under the presidency of tlie newly-installed W . M Guu . iifosn . —Royal Alfred Lodge , Ao . 777 , —A meeting of this flourishing Lodge was held en the 18 t i inst ., at the Angel Hotel , when a large number of brethren mustered . The lodge was duly opened , and two brethren having oroved themselves proficient iu the first degree

were snsequently passed to the rank of Craftsmen . The chief business of the evening , however , was the presentation of a magnificent gold jewel to Bro . J . iNealds . P . M ., iu lecognition of his valuable services as Treasurer , and also iu the capacity of Secietary for a very lengthened period . This presentation was quite unexpected on the part of the worthy brother who received it , thus rendering it doubly pleasurable . Bro . Nealds expressed his acknowledgments for the handsome
