Reports Of Masonic Meetings.

The brethren then adjourned from labour to refreshment , very p leasant evening was spent , the visitors especially being hig hly gratified at liaving had an opportunity of tnessing so interesting a ceremony . W ' lt is the intention of the lodge to continue the sections 0 f the Second and Third Degree .

SURBITON . —Surbiton Lodge ( No . 2146 ) . —The f rst annual meeting of this lodge vvas held on the 17 th inst . i ' t the Map le Hall . In June last this Iodge vvas consecrated , and Bro . Dr . Gibbes appointed first Master . It was intended to be a woiking lodge . Since its formation 15 have been "nitiated , passed , and raised , and all the Fifteen Sections have been worked in addition . The lodg-e is rich in good

workers , led on by Bros . Gibbes and Hart , both P . M . 's ot St . Margaret ' s Lodge , 1872 , which vvas founded at Surbiton some fe ' vv years since . The Surbiton Lodge numbers 33 subscribing" members , and nearly all were present on the jay under notice . Grand Lodge was represented by Bro . Prettvman , G . P ., and the present officers of the province hv the D . P . G . M ., Bro . West ; and the P . G . S ., Bro .

Greenwood . The visitors also included Bros . Jas . Squire , P . M . 3 and SS 9 ; J . W . Squire , P . M . 3 ; H . ' White , P . M . 1257 ; Coleman , P . M . 1614 ; Pearse , W . M . 1 S 72 ; W . Chopman , W . M . 889 ; - J . Drevvelt , W . M . 163 S ; R . Piper , S . W . 1 S 72 ; and W . Drewett , S . W . 889 . Lodge being opened by the W . M . and his officers , the business incidental to the annual meeting was taken first .

The Auditors' report was highly satisfactory , and the accounts showed a good balance in hand after meeting the extraordinary expenses which attach to the first year ofthe existence of a lodge . The installation of Bro . A . Storr , P . M ., P . A . G . P ., vvas then proceeded witb , and most efficiently too , by Bro . Gibbes . The accompanying music was rendered very ably b y Bro . Burritt Lane . The new W . M .

having been saluted in due form , appointed and invested his officers as follows : Bros . C . C . Gibbes , I . P . M . ; A . Wilson , P . M . 1298 , S . W . ; F . P . Hill , J . W . j R . followed from the Installing Master , and theW . M . next initiated Mr . Thos . Johnson into the mysteries of the Order . This was done with befitting solemnity , and the efficiency of tV > e principal officers was soon proved , the S . VV . being called on to give the address to the initiate , which he did vvith striking eloquence and point . Then the J . W . gave the explanation of the working tools , without

the slightest flaw or defect , and finally Bro . Hart delivered the charge with the strictest accuracy in every detail . Nothing presented itself of special interest subsequently , except that the I . P . M . moved a vote of thanks to Bro . Burrell for the gift of a handsome cover for the Secretary ' s table ; it is of rich marone material , with the lion of St . Mark ( the badge of the lodge . ) embroidered thereon .

The lodge being closed , the assembled company partook of an elegant repast , served by Bro . Packham . The customary toast list vvas before the W . M ., vvho , in terse language , proposed each in turn in words which commended themselves to every one vvho heard them . In replying for " The Provincial Grand Officers , " Bro . West—who vvas paying his first visit here—said the Surrey

lodues vvere noted for their good working , and he vvas glad to find the Surbiton no exception . It gave him great pleasure to observe the correct rendering of the ritual throughout , and to notice how well the S . W . and J . W . were prepared to come on to higher office . In replying to the toast of " The Worshipful Master , " Bro . Storr ( who , by the way , is brother of the deceased

"Charity" Storr ) impressed upon the lodge three pointsa strict adherence to the Book of Constitutions , the advisability of private tuition as offered by a lodgeof instruction , and the practice of Charity . The W . M . strongly urged the formation of a Benevolent Fund in connection with the

lod ge ; and a box being extemporised , was later on sent round , and came back laden vvith £ 6 12 s . 3 d ., of which £ 4 was from the lodge of instruction connected vvith the 'edge , as a nucleus for a Charity Fund . The toasts were varied with songs , and a right pleasant evening was spent .

ST . MARY CRAY . —Cray ' s Valley Lodge ( No . 2147 ) . —This lodge held its final meeting prior to the summer vacation , at the Institute , on Saturday , the ioth instant . There were present Bros . The brethren then adjourned from labour to refreshment , very p leasant evening was spent , the visitors especially being hig hly gratified at liaving had an opportunity of tnessing so interesting a ceremony . SURBITON . —Surbiton Lodge ( No . 2146 ) . —The f rst annual meeting of this lodge vvas held on the 17 th inst . i ' t the Map le Hall . In June last this Iodge vvas consecrated , and Bro . Dr . Gibbes appointed first Master . It was intended to be a woiking lodge . Since its formation 15 have been "nitiated , passed , and raised , and all the Fifteen Sections have been worked in addition . The lodg-e is rich in good

workers , led on by Bros . Gibbes and Hart , both P . M . 's ot St . Margaret ' s Lodge , 1872 , which vvas founded at Surbiton some fe ' vv years since . The Surbiton Lodge numbers 33 subscribing" members , and nearly all were present on the jay under notice . Grand Lodge was represented by Bro . Prettvman , G . P ., and the present officers of the province hv the D . P . G . M ., Bro . West ; and the P . G . S ., Bro .

Greenwood . The visitors also included Bros . Jas . Squire , P . M . 3 and SS 9 ; J . W . Squire , P . M . 3 ; H . ' White , P . M . 1257 ; Coleman , P . M . 1614 ; Pearse , W . M . 1 S 72 ; W . Chopman , W . M . 889 ; - J . Drevvelt , W . M . 163 S ; R . Piper , S . W . 1 S 72 ; and W . Drewett , S . W . 889 . Lodge being opened by the W . M . and his officers , the business incidental to the annual meeting was taken first .

The Auditors' report was highly satisfactory , and the accounts showed a good balance in hand after meeting the extraordinary expenses which attach to the first year ofthe existence of a lodge . The installation of Bro . A . Storr , P . M ., P . A . G . P ., vvas then proceeded witb , and most efficiently too , by Bro . Gibbes . The accompanying music was rendered very ably b y Bro . Burritt Lane . The new W . M .

followed from the Installing Master , and theW . M . next initiated Mr . Thos . Johnson into the mysteries of the Order . This was done with befitting solemnity , and the efficiency of tV > e principal officers was soon proved , the S . VV . being called on to give the address to the initiate , which he did vvith striking eloquence and point . Then the J . W . gave the explanation of the working tools , without

the slightest flaw or defect , and finally Bro . Hart delivered the charge with the strictest accuracy in every detail . Nothing presented itself of special interest subsequently , except that the I . P . M . moved a vote of thanks to Bro . Burrell for the gift of a handsome cover for the Secretary ' s table ; it is of rich marone material , with the lion of St . Mark ( the badge of the lodge . ) embroidered thereon .

The lodge being closed , the assembled company partook of an elegant repast , served by Bro . Packham . The customary toast list vvas before the W . M ., vvho , in terse language , proposed each in turn in words which commended themselves to every one vvho heard them . In replying for " The Provincial Grand Officers , " Bro . West—who vvas paying his first visit here—said the Surrey

lodues vvere noted for their good working , and he vvas glad to find the Surbiton no exception . It gave him great pleasure to observe the correct rendering of the ritual throughout , and to notice how well the S . W . and J . W . were prepared to come on to higher office . In replying to the toast of " The Worshipful Master , " Bro . Storr ( who , by the way , is brother of the deceased

"Charity" Storr ) impressed upon the lodge three pointsa strict adherence to the Book of Constitutions , the advisability of private tuition as offered by a lodgeof instruction , and the practice of Charity . The W . M . strongly urged the formation of a Benevolent Fund in connection with the

lod ge ; and a box being extemporised , was later on sent round , and came back laden vvith £ 6 12 s . 3 d ., of which £ 4 was from the lodge of instruction connected vvith the 'edge , as a nucleus for a Charity Fund . The toasts were varied with songs , and a right pleasant evening was spent .

ST . MARY CRAY . —Cray ' s Valley Lodge ( No . 2147 ) . —This lodge held its final meeting prior to the summer vacation , at the Institute , on Saturday , the ioth instant . There were present Bros .
