In our Analysis of the Returns at the Girls School Festival last week , we stated the amount raised b y the House Committee as having been £ 406 7 s . But though in the " Stewards' Lists" we published , the House Committee ' s Returns included the additions

made by the bulk of the members during the progress of the toasts , no corresponding alteration was made in our Analysis , and what we stated as ^ , 406 7 s ., should have been £ 847 7 s . Moreover , we mentioned onl y two three-figure lists as being included in this portion

of London , namely , Bro . Sir J . B . Monckton ' s ^ 168 and Bro . Hammerton ' s . £ 126 ; but there were two other such lists compiled , one by Bro . Robert Grey , amounting to ^ 101 17 s ., and the other by Bro . Frank Richardson , amounting to £ 136 10 s .

» ? * This necessitates a further change . The London total was set down at £ 5472 15 s . 6 d ., and deducting £ 406 7 s . for the House Committee , there remained a balance

contributed by its lodges , chapters , and Unattached of . £ 5066 8 s . 6 d . But the House Committee ' s total being £ 847 7 s ., it follows that the sum raised b y lodges , chapters , and Unattached was onl y £ 4625 8 s . 6 d . » * *

We are at length in a position to announce the total of the Returns at the Jubilee Festival of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution in February last , which is stated in the annual report prese nted by the Committee of Management at the annual general meeting of Governors and Subscribers on Friday , the 20 th inst ., to have been as follows : 1505 Stewards , total of

donations and subscriptions £ 67 , 364 8 s . There may , and no doubt will , be further additions made before the year is out , but this is the total which must always be associated with the Jubilee—a total which the Committee , with a just feeling of pride , points out is nearl y £ 16 , 000 in excess of that realised at the Girls' Centenary in 1888 , and we all know that was enough to take away the breath of ordinary mortals .

* * * We are glad to find that the Committee of Management have pointedly recognised in their annual report the very great services rendered b y Bro . James Terry , the Secretary of the Royal Masonic Benevolent Institu tion , in connection with the recent Jubilee Festival

Those services were extremely arduous , and it must be very gratifying to Bro . Terry to have had thus publicly conveyed to him the thanks of that bod y , which knows so thoroughly how severe and unremitting were his labours and how much the success of the Jubilee is due to those labours .

* * * The appointment of Bro . George McKay as Deputy Provincial Grand Master of Cumberland and Westmorland , will be accepted by the Craft of the united provinces as a fitting recognition of the services rendered to Masonry in general , and Cumberland and

Westmorland in particular , by our worthy brother as Provincial Grand Secretary for many years . Bro McKay has done good work not only in the duties strictl y appertaining to his office , but in the larger field of Masonry , of which the Charitable Institutions have formed no mean part . In short , Bro . McKay , whether

we regard him as a successful man of business , a good Craftsman , or as a citizen who has devoted his time and energies to the various demands of municipal life , is fully deserving of all the honours he has received , and we offer him our hearty congratulations on the latest distinction that has been conferred on him by the Provincial Grand Master , the Earl of Bective .
