PROVINCIAL GRAND LODGE OF ABERDEENSHIRE EAST . The annual meeting of the Provincial Grand Lod ge of Aberdeenshire East was held at New Pitsligo on the 18 th inst . The St . Andrew Lodge there bas acquired a new lodge room in the premises of No . 27 , High-street , and advantage was taken of the presence of the Provin . cial Grand Lodge to have the hall consecrated . Bro . W . Boyd , Prov . G . M ., presided , and there were between

70 and 80 brethren present . At the consecration ceremony Bro . the Very Rev . Dean Webster officiated as Chaplain , and Bro . the Rev . C . H . Townsend was Organist . The former in his oration pointed out that Freemasonry did not consist in

the possession of certain secrets alone—if it were so , it would be a superficial amusement , unworth y of the attention of great minds in all ages—but that it was founded on the grand principles of brotherly love and truth . Were the principles of Freemasonry better followed out , and more widely spread , the world would be

much better . At the business meeting of the Prov . Grand Lodge , the Prov . G . M . intimated that , owing to the reconstruction of the provinces in Aberdeenshire , the lodges at Inverurie and Oldmoldrum had been disjointed from the province and added to that of Aberdeenshire West . Western Province , Bro . Col . Skene , of Lethenty , was commissioned as Depute Master , and Bro . C . T . Gordon , of Cairness , as Sub . Master . Commissions were also issued in favour of Bro . Bro . James Hird , Peterhead ... Prov . G . Treas . „ Scott , Strichen Prov . S . G . D . 11 J . Roger , Strichen ... ... Prov . J . G . D . „ Wm . Stuart , Peterhead ... Prov . G . Architect . „ A . Simpson , Fraserburgh ... Prov . G . Jeweller . „ Jos . Sim , Strichen Prov . G . Bible Br . „ John Stuart , Peterhead ... Prov . G . D . of C . „ Thomas Davidson , Peterhead Prov . G . Swd . Br . „ George Riddel , Rosehearty Prov . G . D . of M . „ Thomas Auld , Strichen ... Prov . G . Std . Br . „ John Dryden , Peterhead ... Prov . G . Stwd . „ William Eddison , Strichen ... Prov . G . I . G . „ Charles Sim , Strichen ... Prov . G . Ty ler .

A letter was read from Bro . Kemp , St . Anthony Lodge , Bouverie , on behalf of the brethren , expressing regret that , owing to their being inconveniently situate to the other lodges geographically , they had o « e obliged to seek to be connected with West Aberdeenshire , and wishing continued success and prosperity Aberdeenshire East Province . , c After the lodge was closed , the brethren partooK supper at the Pitsligo Arms Hotel .

The vicar of the parish church , St . John's , ivIarS ' j ' jJie willingly given his consent to the erection of a s ^ memorial to the late Bro . Colonel King-Harman , ww » | n member for the Thanet Division of the County ot Nt ' the said parish church .

Were the principles of Freemasonry better followed out , and more widely spread , the world would be

much better . At the business meeting of the Prov . Grand Lodge , the Prov . G .
