Bro . T . Hobley , I . P . M ., in presenting the all-important toast—that of "The W . M . "—said that he was a most genial and efficient brother , well able to perform the duties , and would , he was confident , add lustre to the chair of W . M . Bro . W . R . King , W . M ., who on rising to respond , was most cordially received , said it was the proudest moment in his lite . Only six years ago last April was he

initiated by Bro . Dr . Raw , P . M ., and raised by the esteemed Bro . J . Hooper , P . M . ; and ever since he had had a most happy and enjoyable time in the lodge . Now that he was in that honoured position he hoped that the same genial spirit would permeate the lodge , and so long as life lasted he should remain a member . He most heartily thanked them for their very cordial remarks .

The W . M . next presented the toast of the evening—that of" The Installing Master , Bro . Thomas Hobley "—who had conducted the ceremony in the most exemplary manner . He had given his very best attention to his duties , and his efforts had been crowned with success . He ( the W . M . ) would ask his kind acceptance of the beautiful Past Master ' s jewel voted him by the lodge in recognition of his services rendered during the year . It was one of the great pleasures in life to pin it to the Past Master ' s collar , feeling assured that no P . M . had earned it better . The toast was drunk most cordially .

Bro . T . Hobley , I . P . M ., in reply , said that he was deeply grateful for such a testimony and the splendid jewel . He had worked hard , and thanked Bros . William Dawson , the able Preceptor , and Geo . Thompson , P . M ., for their very kind assistance which had enabled him to carry out the duties of the installation in a manner that had pleased the brethren . He also thanked the members of the lodge for their great kindness in voting him such a handsome jewel , which he should most highly prize .

In presenting the toast of " The Visitors , " the W . M . said there was a very long array and many most distinguished , and the lodge accorded them a most hearty welcome . Bro . J . A . Orchard , P . M ., in reply , said he had never before received a more kindly welcome . He was delighted at being present to witness the installation of a dear friend and brother from his Devonshire home , which ceremony had been ably performed . He knew somewhat of that ceremony , having installed about 20 Masters . It was not

always in the power of a W . M . to instal his successor , not having the fluency of speech , although one of the best in principle , hence the reason of that privilege devolving upon one or more of the Past Masters . He was a Mason of many years' standing , having had the privilege of witnessing the first investiture of the M . W . G . M . Also he had been honoured by the province with Grand Office for over 20 years . Therefore , he was able to judge somewhat of the quality of working , which in the Blackheath Lodge was of an exceptional character . He wished the W . M . excellent health and the lodge a most successful career .

Bros . Dunstan , Hume , Lmtott , Stone , Loader , and Morgan also pertinently replied . The W . M . next presented the toast of "The Treasurer and Secretary "in most commendable terms , congratulating them both upon their exceptional services . Bro . Morson , P . M ., Treas ., in response , said their funds were never in a better condition , specially the Charity Fund , and he should be glad to know of a brother standing as Steward to a Masonic Institution , and a grant made from that fund upon his list , for that after all , to him , was the cream of Freemasonry . No « that the lodge had a King to reign over them , he wished him and the lodge every possible success .

Bro . H . A . Stunt , P . M ., Sec , also gratefully replied , and mentioned some of the vicissitudes the lodge had undergone , but now it was fairly stranded and was receiving benefits in every way , especially from Bro . Callingham for his hostelry . He hoped there would be introduced good men and true and so allow the W . M . to exhibit his excellent working . ^ He had always taken a very lively interest in the lodge and he should always continue to do so to promote its prosperity . The toast of " The Past Masters " was duly honoured and ably responded to by Rms . Hnhlev . Stunt . Hoooer . Le Cren . and Pike .

The toast of " The Officers" received at the hands of the W . M . its meed of praise , congratulating both himself and the loJge upon their excellent capabilities . The whole of the officers responded . The Tyler's toast closed a very happy meeting . A capital programme of mu'ic was arranged under the direction ot Bro . William Emerson . The artistes were Madame Rich , Miss Nora Harding , Bros . Tom- ^ owley , Miles Mole , and Walter G . Churcher ( humorist ) . Bro . Wm . Emerson very efficiently accompanied .

Acacia Lodge , No . 2321 . A regular meting was held at the Masonic Hall , Bradford , on Thursday , the 5 th inst . Bro . James B . Fearnley , W . M ., presided , and was supported by the following officers : Bros . John Morton , I . P . M . ; T . P . Sykes , S . W . ; Wm . Docksey , J . W . ; F . Betteridge , B . A ., Chap . ; John W . Bland , Treas . ; John T . Last , P . M ., P . P . G . Reg ., Sec ; J . S . Hedley , S . D . ; W . II . Townend , ns J . D . ; R . A . Hinchliffe , as 1 . G . ; R . B . Nicholls , as Org . ; W . Durrance , Asst . Sec . ; J . C . Cooper , Tyler ; C . II . Ellis , P . M . ; S . Robinson , P . M . ; S . A . Bailey , P . M . ; VV . H . Barton and J . L . Turner , Stewards ; and a number of other brethren .

The Treasurer , who had been elected Master for the ensuing year at the previous meeting of the lodge , not seeing his way to accept the position , the minutes of the previous meeting were confirmed , with the exception of that portion relating to the election of W . M . Bro . Storey , a candidate for the Second Degree , being unable to attend , the ceremony was consequently deferred . After " Hearty good wishes , " the lodge was closed , and the brethren afterwards dined together . After the usual loyal and Masonic toasts had been duly honoured ,

Bro . C . H . Ellis , P . M ., in complimentary terms , proposed " The Health of the W . M ., " who , he stated , had had a very successful year of office , and enjoyed the esteem and support of the brethren . Bro . Ellis stated that he hadbeen deputed by the junior brethren of the lodge to be their mouthpiece on that occasion , to express , on their behalf , the very high opinion they held of the W . M ., the love and esteem they had for him , and their appreciation of the very pleasant year they had all experienced , and

which they attributed in a marked degree to the zeal and ability displayed by the W . M . in ruling over the lodge . The junior brethren recognising the kindness they had received at the hands of the Master , now that his year of office had terminated , they had subscribed for the beautiful Past Master ' s jewel which , on their behalf , he now pinned on to the W . M . 's collar , he hoped Bro . Fearnley would long live to wear it in the lodge , and he asked them to drink heartily to "The Health of the W . M . " The toast was most heartily received .

Bro . J . B . Fearnley , W . M ., in responding , thanked the brethren for the cordial manner they had drunk to his health , and said he could scarcely find words with which to express his feelings with regard to the handsome jewel which they had presented to him . It would be a memento to him of the happy year he had spent as Master of the lodge , as well as a lasting token of the goodwill of the junior brethren who had so loyally supported him during his tenure of office , and it was most gratifying to him that

he had been able to gain the esteem of the members of the lodge •he should always wear the jewel with pride and pleasure . After other toasts had been honoured a Committee was appointed for arranging for the annual ball and other social evenings for the coming winter season , the details for which were arranged . The W . M . has invited the ladies to dine with the brethren at the November meeting .

Lewisham Lodge , No . 2579-The installation meeting of the above lodge took place on Saturday last at tho Holborn Restaurant , when Bro . Charles Lamb , P . M . 1999 and 2579 , was for the second time installed in the chair and appointed his officers as follows : Bros . W . C Tyler , S . W . ; II . Cole , J . W . ; II . Visger , Treas . ; Edmund Hall , Sec . ; the Rev . VV . J . Salt , M . A ., Chap . ; I . VV . Drysdale , D . C . ; VV . T . Feldon , S . D . ; A . Reichenheim .

J . D . ; W . Clark , I . U . ; C W . Wilkes , Org . ; M . b . brooman and G . W . Perry . Stwds . ; and J . Bailey , Tyler . The members mustered in strong force , and there were a goodly number of visitors . The installation ceremony was very kindly performed in his usual efficient manner by Bro . A . II . Bateman , P . M . 33 , 1973 , & c , P . Z . 1973 , & c . At the banquet the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured , tnat of " Thi > W . M . " hein ? accorded musical honours .

A lengthy and high-class musical programme had been provided under the direction of Bro . C W . Wilkes , Org . Madame Carlotta lde sang with great taste , and Bros . E . Mall , VV . E , Dilley , and W . Phillips also rendered good service . Mr . E . Hall , jun ., gave a capital rendering of the " Lost Cnord " on the cornet . A mandoline and guitar band discoursed sweet music during the banquet and afterwArds .

Craft Masonry.

Bro .

G . ; R . B . Nicholls , as Org . ; W .
