vvas made . Bros . J . Brown , A . Frazer , and E . Home suitably responded . "The Sister Lodges " was proposed by Bro . J . Bland , P . M ., who , before doing so , warmly congratulated the W . M . on his being numbered amongst the rulers of the Craft , especially on his attaining to the chair of K . S . in so

prosperous a lodge , the seventh on the provincial roll , which now numbers 22 . Bro . Bland then said how pleased all were to see so goodly a number from the sister lodges present , and he trusted the greatest , the warmest of good feeling would always be kept up between them all , and knit them together in one common brotherhood . Allusion was made to many well known brethren who had passed

the chairs in the various lodges , special mention being made of the oldest , the Tyrian , No . 253 . To this toast Bro . B . W . Pike , W . M ., responded for the Hartington , J . Worsnop , P . M . ( in the absence of the W . M . ) , for the Repose , and Bros . J . H . Clarke , VV . M ., and E . R . Ward , P . M ., for the Tyrian , all highly complimenting the W . M . on his attaining to the chair , and congratulating

the lodge on its prosperity . " The Masonic Charities " was proposed in an excellent speech by Bro . A . Woodiwiss , P . M ., P . P . S . G . W ., who urged the brethren to assist the W . M . all they possibly could by subscribing liberally to his list . Bro . Percy Wallis , P . M ., P . P . S . G . W ., responded in his usual happy and felicitous style .

The other toasts were "The Officers , " "The Musical Brethren , " and the Tyler ' s toast , which brought another memorable anniversary to a close . Under the leadership of Bro . VV . L . Dodd , P . P . G . O ., some excellent instrumental selections were given , whilst harmony was contributed by Bros . W . N . Toft , J . Melrose , A . Butterworth , and W . J . Piper .

DOVER . Corinthian Lodge ( No . 1208 ) . —At the first meeting since the installation of Bro . VV . W . Burkett as W . M . of this lodge , held on Monday , the 17 th inst ., at the Freemasons' Hall , Snargate-strcet , there vvas an unusually large muster of the brethren . The Three Degrees were worked in an excellent manner by the

newlyelected W . M . Among those present were Bros , the Rev . Vickers , Chap . ; W . O . Kennett , P . M . ; Dr . Best ; J . W . Bussey , P . M . ; Dr . Fenn , P . M . ; Dr . Walter , P . Lancaster vvas installed as W . M . in succession to Bro . VV . Bates . The ceremony was conducted in an impressive manner by Bro . J . Lefeuvre , Deputy P . G . M ., to

whom a hearty vote of thanks was passed at the conclusion of the proceedings . The retiring VV . M . presented a handsome jewel to Bro . G . Pearman in recognition of his services as Organist of the lodge , which extend over a period of 14 years . Bro . Bates was himself the recipient of a Past " Master ' s collar and jewel . Bro . " He then presented , on behalf of the lodge , a Past Master ' s jewel to the l . P . M . as a recognition of the very satisfactory way he had carried out the duties of the lodge .

"The Past Masters of the Lodge" was replied to by Bros . Hall and Taplin , and Bro . Bailey responded to " The Masonic Charities . " The toast of "The Visitors" was well received , and those called upon gave very suitable replies . Bros . Cotton , Treas ., and Nicholson , Sec , responded to

" The Officers , " as time was passing so rapidly . The Tyler's toast brought a very enjoyable evening to a close . Some capital music was given during the intervals of the toasts and thoroughly appreciated . The jewel was manufactured by Bro . George Kenning , of London .

MANCHESTER . Humphrey Chetham Chapter ( No . 645 ) . —A meeting was held on Tuesday , the iSth instant , at the Freemasons' Hall , Cooper-street . The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . The most important business vvas the election of officers for the ensuing year , which resulted as follows : Comps . F . Lange , Z . ; Geo . Sam Smith , H . ; Max Weigenthaler , J . ; J . E . Lees , S . E . ; A . H . Jefferis , S . N . ; Carl Gotz , Treas . ; and Griffiths , P . S .

WARRINGTON . Elias Ashmole Chapter ( No . 148 ) . —The anniversary of this chapter was held in the Masonic Rooms , Sankey-street , on Monday , the 17 th inst ., when many of the members were presant . The minutes of the last convocation having been read and confirmed , Comp . P . J . Edelsten , P . Z . 14 S and 1250 , P . P . G . Std . Br ., undertook

the installation of the Three Principals in accordance with the usual rites and ceremonies of the Order , viz . : Comps . E . Greenall , M . E . Z . ; J . H . Evans , H . ; and W . M . Young , J . ; the duties of which he performed in a most efficient and impressive manner . The M . E . Z . then invested the following officers , viz .: Comps . C . Skinner , S . E . ; W . Arnott , S . N . ; Dr . Adams , P . S . ; and T . Domville ,

Janitor . The M . E . Z . then presented to Ins immediate predecessor , Comp . T . Grime , on behalf of the chapter , a very handsome P . Z . ' s jewel in recognition of his past services , at the same time alluding in most flattering terms to the great interest he had always evinced in various ways for the welfare and prosperity of Freemasonry . The recipient acknowledged the presentation in suitable terms .

The business of the chapter being- concluded , the companions adjourned to a banquet , under the able presidency of Comp . D . W . Finney , P . Z . 148 , P . P . G . S ., the same being supplied by Comp . Chautry , whose catering gave satisfaction in every way . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were given and responded to , and after spending a very pleasant evening the companions duly separated .

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . The Secretary proposed , and the Treasurer seconded , that the sum of live guineas be voted to the Mark Benevolent Fund , per Bro . VV . the forthcoming Festival of that Institution . This proposition vvas carried unanimously . The name of Bro . VV . Fisher , P . M ., was unanimously selected for nomination for the next Grand Mark Stewardship . Apologies for nonattendance were received from Bros . Woodruff , S . O . ; Von loel , I . O . ; Meacock , S . D . ; and others .

The lodge was then closed , and the brethren adjourned to the banquet , which was well served . The VV . M . presided most genially . Among the notable speakers were Bros . Thomas , J . W . ; VV . Fisher , and George Everett . Bros . Porter , Bailey , and Baker , between the speeches , vocally and instrumentally entertained the brethren .

Sir James 'T yler has paid to the bankers , Messrs . Barclay , Bevan , and Co ., his promised donation of £ 1000 , which has been placed to the credit of the Bethnal Green Free Library new building fund .

brethren would be away from London , the supper in connection with the lodge of instruction take place on Thursay , the ist May , instead of the Sth April , and that the same be postponed to that date ; seconded by Bro . F . M . Noakes , and carried unanimously . Nothing further offering for the good of Freemasonry , the lodge was closed .

Allusion was made to many well known brethren who had passed

the chairs in the various lodges , special mention being made of the oldest , the Tyrian , No . 253 . To this toast Bro . B . W . Pike , W . M ., responded for the Hartington , J . Worsnop , P . M . ( in the absence of the W . M . ) , for the Repose , and Bros . J . H . Clarke , VV . M ., and E . R . Ward , P . M ., for the Tyrian , all highly complimenting the W . M . on his attaining to the chair , and congratulating

the lodge on its prosperity . " The Masonic Charities " was proposed in an excellent speech by Bro . A . Woodiwiss , P . M ., P . P . S . G . W ., who urged the brethren to assist the W . M . all they possibly could by subscribing liberally to his list . Bro . Percy Wallis , P . M ., P . P . S . G . W ., responded in his usual happy and felicitous style .

The other toasts were "The Officers , " "The Musical Brethren , " and the Tyler ' s toast , which brought another memorable anniversary to a close . Under the leadership of Bro . VV . L . Dodd , P . P . G . O ., some excellent instrumental selections were given , whilst harmony was contributed by Bros . W . N . Toft , J . Melrose , A . Butterworth , and W . J . Piper .

M . of this lodge , held on Monday , the 17 th inst ., at the Freemasons' Hall , Snargate-strcet , there vvas an unusually large muster of the brethren . ' s jewel in recognition of his past services , at the same time alluding in most flattering terms to the great interest he had always evinced in various ways for the welfare and prosperity of Freemasonry . The recipient acknowledged the presentation in suitable terms .

The business of the chapter being- concluded , the companions adjourned to a banquet , under the able presidency of Comp . D . W . Finney , P . Z . 148 , P . P . G . S ., the same being supplied by Comp . Chautry , whose catering gave satisfaction in every way . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were given and responded to , and after spending a very pleasant evening the companions duly separated .
