The music used during the consecration ceremony was most efficiently conducted under the direction of Bro . James Kift , who was assisted by Bros . H . Schartau , Arthur Thompson , Arthur Thomas , and Franklin Clive . The lodge having been formally opened , the hymn " Hail Eternal by whose aid" was sung .
The GRAND SECRETARY , then addressing the brethren , said : We are , as you arc aware , assembled on a very interesting occasion . It is to dedicate to Masonry a new lodge , the warrant for which has just been granted by H . R . H . the Prince ol Wales , M . W . G . M ., in response to the petition of a large number of brethren whose places of business are in the neighbourhood . It is in the present time very difficult to obtain a new
lodge in London as there are already 350 lodges meeting in the metropolitan district , and the Grand Mastsr has a very proper feeling that that number is sufficient . All ruins , however , have exceptions , and the brethren are to be congratulated that H . R . H . has listened to their prayer . There are amongst the brethren who signed the petition , many who have rendered valuable service to the Craft , and they have made a wise choice in selecting Bro . Farthing to preside over them , fur he will , no doubt , prove himself an
excellent occupier of tlie chair of K . S . I would , however , add one word of caution . I ask you not to be in any hurry to enlarge your number . Be very careful to consider the character of every gentleman proposed , for I find that those who bide their lime always reap their reward , and that in a lodge thus constructed every member is a good and trusty brother . I will not detain you longer now , as you will have some excellent words from the Grand Chaplain . Bro . the Rev . J . N . PALMER , Grand Chaplain , then delivered an oration on the nature and principles of the Order , and , after alluding to

The invitation also extends to the subsequent meal , at which visitors

We are informed that no part of thc lodge funds is ever spent upon refreshment , and that future meetings of the lodge will be equally open to all Craftsmen and announced in our columns . We need scarcely impress upon
all visitors unknown to the members the necessity ot providing themselves with their Grand Lodge certificates in order to insure their admission . It will be seen that this lodge has struck out a line for itself in more than one particular , and we wish its distinguished W . M ., Bro . Sir CHARLES WARREN , and the members generally , a pleasant meeting on Thursday next , and all the success their well meant and interesting experiment deserves .

WHYTEHEAD , who has just been appointed Clerk to the Chapter of York Minster and Registrar of the Deanery of York . Bro . WHYTEHEAD for some years past has been a conspicuous figure among the Craftsmen of this ancient city , and his inclination to the more abstruse studies of
Freemasonry is well enough known to justify the hope that , now he has such ready access to the venerable archives of the Minster , he may be able to spare the Masonic public an occasional paper or two on subjects connected with our archreology . We cannot conceive a better man for the post than Bro . PALMER , Grand Chaplain , then delivered an oration on the nature and principles of the Order , and , after alluding to
