S ., performed the ceremony , as has been the usual custom for the past six years , and renders it year after year more impressive and effective , after which the newly-installed W . E . Edwards , D . B . Risk , Ellis , Davies , and others . In the course of the evening Bro . T . B . Hughes , I . P . M ., was presented with an exceedingly handsome gold P . M . jewel ( manufactured by Bro . George Kenning , 2 , Monumental-place , Liverpool ) , by Bro . R . Luke , VV . M ., on behalf of the lodge , in recognition of his valuable services in the chair during the past 12 months .

Bro . J . Roberts recited the following lines , composed for the occasion : — " A simple gift of cunning work , and neat An offering , such as seemed in our thoughts meet , Something to ' mind you of a pleasant past ; A reminiscence of where your lot was cast ,

'Midst pleasant fellows , acting on the square , Within the magic circle , void of care . Now when your thoughts revert this fairnight , And hap your eyes on this bright jewel light , Remember tis an index of esteem , Which pray accept , for you are worthy deem . "

HALIFAX . —De Warren Lodge ( No . 1302 ) . The annual meeting of this lodge was held at the Private Rooms , White Swan Hotel , on the ioth instant . Thelodge was opened by the W . M ., Bro . Sutcliffe Greenwood , and the formal business transacted . Letters of apology for inability to attend were read from Bros . Fleming , S . W . ;

Crossley , J . W . 61 ; Dates , VV . M . ; and Nicholl , S . W . 1736 . The visitors were Bros . Greenwood , S . W . ; Holdsworth , P . M ., P . P . G . D . of C , J . W . 44 S ; Sutcliffe , P . M . was elected Almoner for the ensuing year . The lodge was then closed , and the brethren adjourned to partake of the annual banquet . During the evening a letter was read from Bro . Tew , P . G . M ., regretting his inability to attend , owing to him entertaining the officers of

the regiment , at Pontefract , at his own house , the same evening . The proceedings were enlivened by the excellent singing of a quartette party from Oakenshaw , who had been engaged for the occasion by the new P . M ., and altogether a very enjoyable evening was spent . This young lodge , as a Jubilee offering , has made itself a Vice-Patron of the Boys' School , with 40 votes in perpetuity , being the third lodge only in West Yorkshire which has attained that proud position .

LIVERPOOL . —Hamer Lodge ( No . 1393 ) . — The monthly meeting in the Masonic Temple , Hope-street , held on the 20 th inst ., was marked by a pleasant and interesting ceremony , which consisted in the presentation 01 a complete suit ot new clothing . M . responded in an appropriate manner , new insignia of office . Subsequently , on the motion ot Bro . VV . H . Jewitt , P . M . and Treas ., seconded by Bro . J .

M'Carthy , P . M ., a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Bro . Oversbury and his colleagues on the Committee for their efforts in providing the new regalia . Before the conclusion of the business , it was decided to subscribe five guineas from the lodge reserve fund towards the Hamer Benevolent Fund .

HAMPTON . —Hemming Lodge ( No . 1512 ) . — This lodge met at the Lion Hotel on the 20 th inst . Among those present were Bros . Wheatley , VV . M . ; Eales , S . VV . ; Ransford , J . W . ; J . C . candidates were impressively initiated into Craft mysteries by the VV . M . The announcement of the decease of Bro . VV . Foes , who was initiated at the last meeting of the lodge , was received with great regret . . Apologies for non-attendance were received from Bros . j . F . H . Woodward , P . G . Sec , & c . ; T . W . Ockenden , P . M . ; and others . Bro . H . Jones , P . M ., having given a notice of motion for

discussion at the next meeting , the lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to refreshment . Upon the removal of the cloth the customary toasts were duly honoured . Bro . H . Jones , P . P . G . Std . Br ., responded on behalf of "The Provincial Grand Officers . " Bros . Burgess and Bridge , in replying to the toast of " The Visitors , " complimented the lodge upon its working

capabilities , its harmony , and its hospitality . " The Health of the Past Masters " was coupled with the name ot Bro . W . Spearing , I . P . M ., who responded in eloquent terms . Bros . Eales and Ransford did full justice to the toast of "The Officers . " The proceedings then terminated .

Miller , Entecotr , and Emblin . the lodge was opened in the First Degree , and the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . The lodge was

opened in the Second Degree . The usual questions leading to the Third Degree were duly answered by Bro . Jenkins . The lodge was opened in the Third Degree , and the ceremony of raising rehearsed . The lodge was then called oil , and resumed to the Secund Degree . The chair was vacated by the W . M . and taken by Uro . Thomas , VV . CHISWICK LODGE ( No . 2012 ) . —A meeting was held at the Windsor Castle Hotel , King-street , Hammersmith , on Saturday , the 22 nd inst . Present : Bros . J . Brown , VV . M . ; Speigel , P . The lodge having been opened in the First and Second Degrees , the ist Section of the Second Lecture was worked hy thc Preceptor ,

assisted by the brethren . Bro . Stroud having answered the questions hading to the Third Degree , was entrusted . The lodge was opened in the Third Degree , and the ceremony of raising was rehearsed , Bro . Stroud being the candidate . The lodge was closed in the Third and Second Degrees . The next meeting being the night reserved bv the rules for the Preceptor , Bro . Ayling stated that he

had arranged with Bro . J . H . Wood , W . M . 1643 , to work the ceremony of installation on that night , when he ( Bro . Ayling ) would act as W . M . elect . A vote of condolence was passed to Bro . G . Gardner , P . M . and Treasurer , on account of the decease of his wife . Bro . Speigel having been elected VV . Ray , a candidate to be raised to the Third Degree , answered the usual questions , and was entrusted . The lodge was opened in the Third Degree , and the ceremony of raising was rehearsed , Bro . Ray being the candidate .

Bro . Gibson vacated the chair , which was re-occupied by the W . M . The lodge was resumed to the First Degree , and Bros . Shand , Piper . and Pullen were unanimouslyelected joining members . Bro . Dottrell was unanimously elected VV . M . for Friday , the 4 th prox . A vote of thanks was unanimously voted , to be recorded on the minutes , to the W . M . for the very able and efficient manner in which he had discharged the duties of W . M . for the first time . This compliment was earned , for the duties were most efficiently discharged , and the ceremony of initiation rehearsed in a most creditable manner . Nothing further offering , the lodge was closed .

M ., regretting his inability to attend , owing to him entertaining the officers of

the regiment , at Pontefract , at his own house , the same evening . The proceedings were enlivened by the excellent singing of a quartette party from Oakenshaw , who had been engaged for the occasion by the new P . M ., and altogether a very enjoyable evening was spent . This young lodge , as a Jubilee offering , has made itself a Vice-Patron of the Boys' School , with 40 votes in perpetuity , being the third lodge only in West Yorkshire which has attained that proud position .

LIVERPOOL . —Hamer Lodge ( No . 1393 ) . — The monthly meeting in the Masonic Temple , Hope-street , held on the 20 th inst ., was marked by a pleasant and interesting ceremony , which consisted in the presentation 01 a complete suit ot new clothing . Coleman , Blades , and Purnell . The lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Mann being the candidate . The W . M . vacated the chair , which was taken by Bro . Gibson . The lodge was opened in the Second Degree . Bro . Ray , a candidate to be raised to the Third Degree , answered the usual questions , and was entrusted . The lodge was opened in the Third Degree , and the ceremony of raising was rehearsed , Bro . Ray being the candidate .

Bro . Gibson vacated the chair , which was re-occupied by the W . M . The lodge was resumed to the First Degree , and Bros . Shand , Piper . and Pullen were unanimouslyelected joining members . Bro . Dottrell was unanimously elected VV . M . for Friday , the 4 th prox . A vote of thanks was unanimously voted , to be recorded on the minutes , to the W . M . for the very able and efficient manner in which he had discharged the duties of W . M . for the first time . This compliment was earned , for the duties were most efficiently discharged , and the ceremony of initiation rehearsed in a most creditable manner . Nothing further offering , the lodge was closed .
