Before the close of the lodge the Prov . Grand Master congratulated the brethren upon the position the lodge had attained under its immediate Past Master , Bro . C . A . Hardwick , who had initiated more brethren ( nine ) than any

other Master since the formation of the lodge twenty-one years ago . By request Bro . Col . Money presented Bro . Hardwick with a very handsome jewel , the gift of his initiates . Bro . Hardwick feelingly acknowledged this most gratifying presentation to him at the termination of his year

of office . The brethren afterwards sat down to a sumptuous banquet , served in the usual excellent manner b y Bro . VV . W . Thorn . A very enjoyable evening was subsequently spent , the musical arrangements being under the direction of Bro . Alfred Stribling .

Thc Audit Committee was appointed to audit the accounts ha ! f-an-hour before the installation meeting in November . A vote of condolence with the family of the late Bro . R . J . H . Saunders , P . M ., a member of the lodge for nearly iS years , accidentally drowned a few weeks ago ,

was passed with many remarks of sympathy . A vote of thanks was passed to Bro . the Rev . S . T . H . Saunders for his gift of a fine portrait , handsomely framed , of the late Provincial Grand Master , Col . Sir F . Burdett . Three propositions for joining and initiation were handed in . The lodge was then closed , and the brethren adjourned to refreshment . A few toasts were [ imposed and duly honoured , and the proceedings terminated .

Mount Sinai Chapter ( No . 19 ) . —A convocation was held on the nth inst ., at Anderton ' s Hotel , Fleet-street , when there were present Comps . Robt . II . Crowden , M . E . Z . ; Gaillard , II . ; Cambridge , J . j A . Barfield , P . G . T ., Treas . ; C . Bassano , acting S . E . ; T . Heath , P . S . ; about 20 members , and the following visitors Comps . Shurmur , Barker , Dehane , Dresden , Arnell , and

Warner . 'The chapter having been opened , the minutes of the last convocation were read and confirmed . The only business was a vote of thanks to the M . E . Z . for his present of a magnificent set of new robes . After the M . E . Z . had acknowledged the vote , and " Hearty good wishes " expressed , the chapter was closed .

Royal Arch.

A banquet followed , after which the usual loyal and Royal Arch toasts were proposed . Comp . Barfield responded to the toast of " The Grand Officers . " The M . E . Z ., in the course of his reply to the toast of his health , said the best welfare of the chapter was his first consideration , and was delighted that his gift had met with

approval . He was sorry there had been no exaltees that evening , but two candidates next time would put him and his officers on their metal . The toast of "The H . and J . " followed , and was ably responded toby those officers . The toast of " The Visitors " was next proposed , they all receiving a cordial invitation to attend the next meeting .

The whole of the visitors were called upon to respond , and were received with considerable applause . The toast of "The P . Z . ' s" followed , several of whom had been with them 40 or more years , but that night 25 years ago Comps . Bryett and G . Read were exalted . Several of the P . Z . 's responded , all of whom said they were ever ready to take any office that they might be

required to do . Comp . Pound , of 30 years' standing , said he had watched the welfare of the chapter with great care ; but Comp . Gaillard , who called himself "the boy" amongst _ them , hoped that , as there would be work next convocation , all those who had duties to perform on that occasion would add to the credit of the chapter . The toast of "The Treasurer and S . E . " followed .

Comp . Barfield , in response , was pleased to say the chapter Jiad never been in pecuniary difficulties , but had always a good balance at their bank . Comp . Keath , P . S ., in response for "The Officers , " said he hoped with the assistance of the ist and 2 nd Assistant Sojourners that he would be able to carry out the ritual as perfect as his predecessors ; at all events , he would do his best . Some companions had the ability to attain perfection ,

some had not . He also alluded to the age of the chapter , and the various changes 11 had gone through for the last 60 or 70 years . The Janitor ' s toast followed . All the speeches being short , the companions were enabled to enjoy a musical evening , the following taking part either in songs or recitations : Comps . Cambridge ( piano ) , Heath ( cornet ) , Shurmur , Dehane , Warner , Read , Bryett , Hall , and Staffer .

Royal Jubilee Chapter ( No . 72 ) . — The election meeting of this old chapter was held at Anderton's Hotel , Fleet-street , E . C , on Thursday , the 13 th inst . The chapter was opened , and the minutes of the last convocation were read and confirmed . Bro . Brydges was

Walls gave a notice of motion " 'That in future the chapter meetings shall be held on the second Thursday in February , May , October , and December , instead of the first Thursday in the months of February , April , October , and December . " The chapter was then closed , and the companions partook of an excellent banquet .

Saunders for his gift of a fine portrait , handsomely framed , of the late Provincial Grand Master , Col . Sir F . Burdett . Three propositions for joining and initiation were handed in . Warner . 'The chapter having been opened , the minutes of the last convocation were read and confirmed . The only business was a vote of thanks to the M . E . Z . for his present of a magnificent set of new robes . After the M . E . Z . had acknowledged the vote , and " Hearty good wishes " expressed , the chapter was closed .

Royal Arch.

A banquet followed , after which the usual loyal and Royal Arch toasts were proposed . Comp . Barfield responded to the toast of " The Grand Officers . " The M . E . Z ., in the course of his reply to the toast of his health , said the best welfare of the chapter was his first consideration , and was delighted that his gift had met with

approval . He was sorry there had been no exaltees that evening , but two candidates next time would put him and his officers on their metal . The toast of "The H . and J . " followed , and was ably responded toby those officers . The toast of " The Visitors " was next proposed , they all receiving a cordial invitation to attend the next meeting .

The whole of the visitors were called upon to respond , and were received with considerable applause . The toast of "The P . Z . ' s" followed , several of whom had been with them 40 or more years , but that night 25 years ago Comps . Bryett and G . Read were exalted . Several of the P . Z . 's responded , all of whom said they were ever ready to take any office that they might be

required to do . Comp . Pound , of 30 years' standing , said he had watched the welfare of the chapter with great care ; but Comp . Gaillard , who called himself "the boy" amongst _ them , hoped that , as there would be work next convocation , all those who had duties to perform on that occasion would add to the credit of the chapter . The toast of "The Treasurer and S . E . " followed .

Comp . Barfield , in response , was pleased to say the chapter Jiad never been in pecuniary difficulties , but had always a good balance at their bank . Comp . Keath , P . S ., in response for "The Officers , " said he hoped with the assistance of the ist and 2 nd Assistant Sojourners that he would be able to carry out the ritual as perfect as his predecessors ; at all events , he would do his best . Some companions had the ability to attain perfection ,

some had not . He also alluded to the age of the chapter , and the various changes 11 had gone through for the last 60 or 70 years . The Janitor ' s toast followed . All the speeches being short , the companions were enabled to enjoy a musical evening , the following taking part either in songs or recitations : Comps . Cambridge ( piano ) , Heath ( cornet ) , Shurmur , Dehane , Warner , Read , Bryett , Hall , and Staffer .

Royal Jubilee Chapter ( No . 72 ) . — The election meeting of this old chapter was held at Anderton's Hotel , Fleet-street , E . C , on Thursday , the 13 th inst . The chapter was opened , and the minutes of the last convocation were read and confirmed . Bro . Brydges was
