Bro . W ALTER HOPEKIRK . was initiated in the Manchester Lodge . JNo . lyo , on the 16 th April , 1857 , and was elected VV . Master in 1861 . In 1862 , on resigning the chair , the brethren elected him their Treasurer , and he has been annually re-elected to that office ever since . He has , too , been presented with more than one testimonial , his services as VV . M . having been

recognised with a P . M . 's jewel , and his cares as treasurer having been similarly rewarded , while his personal merits , as distinguished from his official , have been honoured by the presentation to him , in open lodge , of a handsome clock bearing a suitable inscription . He was a founder of the Upper Norwood Lodge , No . 1586 , in 1876 , and the year following was placed in

the chair , when he was instrumental in organising a concert at the Crystal Palace , the profits of which , amounting to some ^ 90 , were appropriated to the Lodge Benevolent Fund . In 1883 he was founder and first W . M . of Honor Oak Lodge , No . 1986 , his services both here and in the Upper Norwood Lodge being appropriately recognised in both cases , while his services

are still at the disposal of his Honor Oak brethren in the capacity of Treasurer . He was exalted to the Royal Arch Degree in 1867 , in the Crystal Palace Chapter , No . 742 , was Z . in 1874 , and for some years held the post of Treasurer . He has served as Festival Steward for all three Institutions , and has constituted himself a Life Governor of them all .

Provincial Grand Lodge Of Cumberland And Westmorland.

The sum of five guineas was unanimously voted to the " Binckes '" Testimonial Fund . Two boys were adopted as candidates for the R . M . I , for Boys , and with other general business for the good and welfaie or the Provincial Grand Lodge , it was closed in form , and the brethren subsequentl y dined at the County Hotel , presided over by the acting chief for the day , Bro . Cartmell , when tbe usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured .

The following is the business to be transacted on Wednesday , the 4 th prox .: — The Minutes of the last Quarterly Convocation to be read for confirmation . Installation of Principals , and Appointment and Investiture of Officers for the ensuing year .

THE REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF GENERAL PURPOSES . To the Supreme Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of England . The Committee of General Purposes beg to report that they have examined the accounts from the 19 th January , to the 19 th April , 1887 , both inclusive , which they find to be as follows : —

Nicholas Belfield Dennys , as Z . ; John Phillips Barbet Beal , as H . j Frederick Kersey Jennings , as J . j and seven others for a chapter to be attached to the Royal Prince of Wales Lodge , No . 1555 , Penang , to be called the Victoria Jubilee Chapter , and to meet at the Freemasons' Hall , Penang , Eastern Archipelago . The foregoing petitions being in all respects regular , the Committee recommend lhat the prayers thereof be respectively granted .

The Committee have also received the following petitions praying for charters of confirmation , the originals being lost : — From the Principals and members of the Chapter of Faith , No . 321 , Crewe , Cheshire . From the Principals and members of the Tynte Chapter , No . 379 , Bath .

The Committee , being satisfied of the reasonableness of these requests , recommend that charters of confirmation for the above-named chapters be granted . Tbe Committee have likewise received a memorial , with copy of minutes , for permission to remove the Ezra Chapter , No . 1489 , from the Ball ' s Pondroad , to the Cock Tavern , Highbury , Islington .

Provincial Grand Lodge Of Cumberland And Westmorland.

The sum of five guineas was unanimously voted to the " Binckes '" Testimonial Fund . Two boys were adopted as candidates for the R . M . I , for Boys , and with other general business for the good and welfaie or the Provincial Grand Lodge , it was closed in form , and the brethren subsequentl y dined at the County Hotel , presided over by the acting chief for the day , Bro . Cartmell , when tbe usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured .

THE REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF GENERAL PURPOSES . To the Supreme Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of England . The Committee of General Purposes beg to report that they have examined the accounts from the 19 th January , to the 19 th April , 1887 , both inclusive , which they find to be as follows : —

Nicholas Belfield Dennys , as Z . ; John Phillips Barbet Beal , as H . j Frederick Kersey Jennings , as J . j and seven others for a chapter to be attached to the Royal Prince of Wales Lodge , No . 1555 , Penang , to be called the Victoria Jubilee Chapter , and to meet at the Freemasons' Hall , Penang , Eastern Archipelago . The foregoing petitions being in all respects regular , the Committee recommend lhat the prayers thereof be respectively granted .

The Committee have also received the following petitions praying for charters of confirmation , the originals being lost : — From the Principals and members of the Chapter of Faith , No . 321 , Crewe , Cheshire . From the Principals and members of the Tynte Chapter , No . 379 , Bath .

The Committee , being satisfied of the reasonableness of these requests , recommend that charters of confirmation for the above-named chapters be granted . Tbe Committee have likewise received a memorial , with copy of minutes , for permission to remove the Ezra Chapter , No . 1489 , from the Ball ' s Pondroad , to the Cock Tavern , Highbury , Islington .
