Robinson , H . ; and G . Crute , J . The fine ceremony was rendered in that

masterly manner for which Comp . The other officers invested were Comps . E . Carter , S . E . ; Bailey , S . W . ; J . Bucknail , P . S . ; J . Warden , , A . S . ; and J . Tickle , A . S . the chapter , was then considered , when the companions adjourned to a sumptuous dinner , most satisfactorily catered for by Comp . Casey , the House Steward , and presided over by the M . E . Z ., Comp . Fothergill . After the usual loyal and A'lasonic toasts , Comp . Willings , P . Z ., proposed "The Health of the Chiefs of the Mariners' Chapter . " Speaking of Comp . Fothergill he said that from the way in which he had always carried out the duties of the other

offices in the chapter , the companions might depend that Comp . Fothergill would , as First Principal , reflect lustre upon the Order together with Comps . Robinson and Crute . Comp . Fothergill , in response , said that in following in the footsteps of such a predecessor as Comp . Willings a task of no small difficulty had been assigned to him , and if he approached within measurable distancee of what Comp . Willings had done he would be quite satisfied with

himself . In conclusion , he proposed "The Health of Comp . Willings , I . P . Z ., " and asked him , on behalf of the members , to accept a P . Z . jewel and a work of art in the shape of an illuminated address , which reflected great credit upon the artist , Comp . E . B . Ironside ; he would leave the address to speak for itself : " To Geo . S . Willings , P . Z . Mariners' Chapter , 249 , of Royal Arch Freemasons . Dear Sir , —Companions : We , the members of the

above chapter , on your retirement from the office of M . E . Z . ( you having filled the various positions and for the last two years that of First Principal ) , feel that we cannot allow the occasion to pass without marking our sense of your genuine worth and sterling ability , and bejr to ask your acceptance of this address and accompanying jewel as an expression of our appreciation of your past services to this chapter , and esteem for you as a companion of the Order . —VVe are ,

dear sir , yours truly and fraternally , Charles Fothergill , M . E . Z . ; J . C . Robinson , II . ; George Crute , J . ; P . B . Gee , P . Z ., P . P . G . P . S . ; A . Cotter , P . Z ., P . P . Willings responded , and acknowledged the kindness and fraternal regard with which he had always been received by the members ; but the last token had come upon him as a complete surprise . Outside Masonry it was supposed that they had a secret to keep . If that was so , they had proved themselves Masons indeed , for until

that moment he did not know of the address , and they had kept the secret well . He was proud to say that his sons were Masons , and that the companions might depend that the address was going into a family where it would be appreciated and handed down as an heirloom . The toast of "The Visitors" was then given , and

suitably responded to by Comps . Brackenbury , Hatton , and Barnett . Comps . Bryant , Hatton , Ironside , Willings , and Green contributed to the enjoyment of the evening by the musical ability for which they are distinguished . The jewel was manufactured by Comp .

—VVe are ,

George Kenning , 2 , Monument-place , Liverpool .
