A vote of thanks was unanimously ordered to be rucorded on the minutes , to Bro . James Hemming , also that hc become an honorary member , for the correct and ready way he worked the whole of the questions withont a single mistake . Another vote of thanks was also accorded to those brethren who had assisted . The whole working being such as cannot be too warmly eulogized , and rcllects great credit on the indefatigable Preceptor , and others who so regularly attend this lodge of instruction ; praise is due also to the worthy and genial host , Bro . J . Holmes , not forgetting Mrs . Holmes , who always strive their utmost to contribute to the comfort of the brethren .

ALEXANDRA PALACE LODGE ( No . 1 S 41 ) . —Another enjoyable and thoroughly instructive evening was spent at the usual weekly meeting of this lodge of instruction , held at the Railway-Hotel , Camberwell New-road , on Saturday , the 23 rd inst . Z ., Comp . Fothergill . After the usual loyal and A'lasonic toasts , Comp . Willings , P . Z ., proposed "The Health of the Chiefs of the Mariners' Chapter . " Speaking of Comp . Fothergill he said that from the way in which he had always carried out the duties of the other

offices in the chapter , the companions might depend that Comp . Fothergill would , as First Principal , reflect lustre upon the Order together with Comps . Robinson and Crute . Comp . Fothergill , in response , said that in following in the footsteps of such a predecessor as Comp . Willings a task of no small difficulty had been assigned to him , and if he approached within measurable distancee of what Comp . Willings had done he would be quite satisfied with

himself . In conclusion , he proposed "The Health of Comp . Willings , I . P . Z ., " and asked him , on behalf of the members , to accept a P . Z . jewel and a work of art in the shape of an illuminated address , which reflected great credit upon the artist , Comp . E . B . He was proud to say that his sons were Masons , and that the companions might depend that the address was going into a family where it would be appreciated and handed down as an heirloom .
