Wanderers Lodge , No . 1604 . The annual installation meeting of this lodge took place on Tuesday / the 14 th inst ., at Freemasons' Hall , Great Queen-street , Bro . Capt . H . E . Fraser , P . P . G . S . B . Herts , the out-going Master , being the Installing Master , and Bro . F . J . Wray , P . M ., acting most ably in the capacity of D . C . on the occasion . After the usual preliminary business of the ledge had been performed , the W . M . iaised Bros . W . Wheatley and R . Blunden to the Third Degree in his usually impressive manner . Bro . W . J . Thatcher , VV . M . elect , was then presented to the W . M ., and installed . The addresses were given in a

manner which gave great satisfaction to the brethren present . 'The newly-installed VV . M ., Bro . W . ] . Thatcher , then invested the following officers , quite in accord with the reputation ofthe lodge : Bros . Fraser , I . P . M . ; C . T . Smales , S . W . j H . Gardiner , J . W . j R . J . Simpson , P . G . C , Chap . ; Capt . F . Butterworth , Treas . ; R . J . Scott , Sec . j ] . Roberts , S . D . j E . H . Lewis , J . D . ; G . F . Brooking , I . G . ; W . C . Jones , D . C .: VV . W . Girling and T . Goldfinch , Stewards ; and A . G . Young , Tyler . The following brethren were duly elected to serve on the Committee of Referenca for the ensuing- year : Bros . lamieson , Holmes , Bailey , Moon , Walker , and Hewlett .

All business being ended and the lodge closed , some So of the brethren sat down to an excel ' ent banquet , provided by Spiers and Pond , in the Crown Room . The usual loyal toasts received full justice . The W . M ., in response to the toast of his health , which vvas very ably proposed by Ihe I . P . M ., stated that it would be his utmost endeavour to emulate the work of the Past Masters of the lodge , who numbered more than a dozen on the occasion , and he trusted , at the end of his year of office , to hand over the gavel to his successor with satisfaction to himself and the gratification of the biethren . He then proceeded to decorate the I . P . M . with a Past Master ' s jewel .

Tbe I . P . M ., in reply , stated that , although his breast was covered with jewels , that , frcm his mother lodge , would be mere esteemed by him than any of the others . Bro . Brookson , in replying for " The Past Masters , " introduced a humorous composition by himself , with respect to the origin of the lodge , he being one of the founders . The harmony of the evening was promoted by the humorous ditties of Bro . George Thatcher ; a clarionet solo by Bro . J . H . Browne j song , "The old soldier , " by Bro . H . Gardiner ; " Jameson ' s ride " was recited by Bro . G . Holland , P . M . j and several songs by Miss McGrath and Mr . Frank Hobbs .

Sackville Lodge , No . 1619 . The regular meeting of this lodge vvas held on Tuesday , the 2 Cth inst ., in the Crown Hotel , East Grinstead , Bro . C . M . Wilson , W . M ., presiding . There was a good attendance . An entered apprentice having been passed to the degree of F . C , a ballot was taken for the Rev . John Hunt , T . C . D ., - and the ballot being unanimous , he was initiated by the VV . M ., the charge being delivered by Bro . Canon VV . H . Cooper , Prov . G . Chaplain . The revised by-laws were brought forward and their confirmation

postponed until the next meeting . Thc committee that had been elected to consider the case of an aged brother brought up its report , and Bro . P . M . Batchley , Sec , said the recommendation vvas that a grant of £ 5 5 s . from the lodge funds be given to Bro . Cooper . A private subscription from the brethren present was made later on , and nearly £ 2 raised for this aged brother . Bro . Rev . R . B . Matson , B . A . Oxon , was proposed as a joining member . A candidate for initiation having been proposed , the lodge

was closed , and the brethren dined together . A very enjoyable evening was spent . The VV . M . was heartily congratulated by Bro . P . M . Dr . Harrison on the accession of so many desirable members , and alsa on the very admirable manner in which he had performed all the ceremonies and ruled the lodge . Several excellently rendered songs and recitations were given during the evening , and the brethren separated .

The minutes of the last regular and an emergency meeting having been read and confirmed , the next business was the election of VV . M . for the ensuing year . Bro . E . Blinkhorn , P . M ., S . W ., was unanimously elected VV . M , ; Bro . J . Petch , P . M ., was reelected Treasurer for the sixth year ; and Bro . T . Willi ims was re-elected Tyler . The report of the Charity Committee of the province was read , and Bro . C . M . Coxon , P . M ., was re-elected to represent the lodge on that Committee . A Past Master's jewel , which

was voted one year previously to the I . P . M ., Bro . 1-2 . H . Moore—who has been away since then in South Africa—was presented to him , and he was congratulated on his safe return . A Past Master ' s jewel was voted to Bro . R . VV . Nicole , W . AI ., in recognition of the ability with which he has conducted the affairs of the lodge during his year of effice . It has , in fact , been the most successful year the lodge has experienced since the first year of its existence .

An Audit Committee having been appointed , after " Hearty good wishes from the visiters , the lodge was closed . After dining , the toasts given were few and brief , the W . M . having arranged an excellent entertainment , which was highly appreciated . The programme was a lengthy one , and was carried out with complete success . Valuable assistance was rendered by Bros . Attwater , Kelly , Donald King , Moore , Ulrich , Beningfield , Bower , Little , and Tom Taylor , who delighted the brethren with his comic contributions j Bro . Amies King ably accompanied .

The VV . M . may congratulate himself that his last mealing was not the least successful of a successful year of office .

A GRAND MASONIC TKMI'I . is being arranged for at the new Trocadero Restaurant which Messrs . J . Lyons & Co . are noiv completing at Piccadilly Circus . Special and complete accommodation will be provided for large and small lodges , and thc tariff will be strictly in accord with the moderation which has hitherto characterised J . Lyons and Co . ' s charges . The cuisine will fully sustain the high reputation this company have already earned , and the decorations and comforts of the whole place will mark a new era in the record of Masonic gatherings . Thus having installed both father and son , wo should think this is unique , and shows clearly that Comp . Silli . toe ' s zeal for the Royal Arch is as true as it was in those days , and bears out prominently the large amount of work he must have performed , and which has been recognised very recently . Comp . Heywood , the present M . E Z ., is a Life Governor of four Masonic Institutions .

King Solomon Chapter , No . 2029 . This temperance chapter held its installation meeting on the 4 th instant at Marl : Masons' Hall . In the absence of the M . E . Z ., Comp . Major T . W . Richardson , P . Z ., S . E ., took the chair . 'The minutes of the previous meeiing having been read and confirmed , the ballot was taken for Comp . J . Bamford Slack , 1324 , as a joining member , and for two brethren for exaltation . Bro . E . A . Gibson , 2029 , being in attendance , was duly exalted . After the necessary dispensation had been read , the acting

M . E . Z . proceeded to induct Comp . Dr . H . VV . Williams , who is M . E . Z . of 141 , into the chair of M . K . Z ., he having had the privilege of installing him as M . E . Z . in Faith Chapter last January . Comp . Major Richardson then assumed the chair of H . and duly installed Comp . Major V . Shellield as Second Principal . Comp . Harry Tipper , P . Broxbourne Chapter , No . 2353 . An emergency meeting of this chapter was held on the 16 th inst ., at Hadley Hotel , New Barnet , when there were present : Comps . E . C . Mulvey , M . E . Z . j S . The chapter having been opened , a ballot was taken for Bros . Lewis , W . J . Wall , J . Elliolt , and M . McVey , which proving unanimous in each case , those brethren were dnly exalted into R . A . Masonry . The companions afterwards sat down to an excellent dinner saived in Bro . Bennett's well-known style . The usual Masonic toasts were given , enlivened by good singing by various of the companions .

THE GLORIES of the old Trocadero in its best days are to be more than revived , as Messrs . J . Lyons & Co . have erected upon its site at Piccadilly Circus one of the grandest restaurants to be found in Europe . For elegance and convenience of construction , splendour of decoration , and the comfort and completeness of the general appointments it would be difficult to lind its peer . The cuisine of J . Lyons & Co ., Ltd ., has earned for this Company ; the title of The Only Perfect Caterers , and the Trocadero Restaurant will be a distinct acquisition to Masonic lodges . Stamford Lodge , No . 148 . A very interesting meeting of this lodge was held at the Town Hall , Altrincham , on Monday , the iSth inst . In the absence of the W . M ., Bro . Fred . Broadsmith , P . AL , P . G . S . W ., took the chair , and advanced Bro . Hollins in a manner which was everything to be desired and admired . There were present in addition to Bro . Broadsmith , Bros . Rev . C . THE OLD IROCADERO went the way of all things but in its stead there has been raised a Trocadero which bids fair to altogether eclipse the memories of the old favourite place of amusement . A magnificent restaurant has been raised upon its site , and Messrs . J . Lyons and Co ., Limited , have succeeded beyond their anticipations in making this the most attractive and comfortable resort of the kind in Europe . A Masonic Temple is included in its many attractions and exceptionally good arrangements are beinj ; made for the convenience of lodges . Light of the South Lodge , No . 1553 . On Tuesday , February 4 th , a very interesting ceremony took place in the Masonic Hall , Kosario ( Argentine Republic ) , when the three surviving founding members of tins nourishing lodge were presented with founders' jewels in commemoration of the - ist anniversary , or " coming of age , " of the Light ot the South Lodge . Bro . F . W . Salmon , W . M ., in the chair , in suitable terms presented the Jewels j ; our "fathers , " Bros . H . S . Chappell ( twice P . M . of the lodge , and D . G . S . W . ) , »•

Barkas , P . M ., and John Galloway . , Bro . Chappell was unfortunately not present at the meeting , but Bros . Barkas ana Calloway duly acknowledged the jewels . It may interest brethren who were once amongst us here , but arc now residing i " the old country , to know that the Light of the South Lodge now numbers 97 subscribing members .

was voted one year previously to the I . P . M ., Bro . 1-2 . H . Moore—who has been away since then in South Africa—was presented to him , and he was congratulated on his safe return . A Past Master ' s jewel was voted to Bro . R . VV . Nicole , W . AI ., in recognition of the ability with which he has conducted the affairs of the lodge during his year of effice . It has , in fact , been the most successful year the lodge has experienced since the first year of its existence .

An Audit Committee having been appointed , after " Hearty good wishes from the visiters , the lodge was closed . After dining , the toasts given were few and brief , the W . M . having arranged an excellent entertainment , which was highly appreciated . The programme was a lengthy one , and was carried out with complete success . Valuable assistance was rendered by Bros . Attwater , Kelly , Donald King , Moore , Ulrich , Beningfield , Bower , Little , and Tom Taylor , who delighted the brethren with his comic contributions j Bro . Amies King ably accompanied .

The VV . M . may congratulate himself that his last mealing was not the least successful of a successful year of office .

THE OLD IROCADERO went the way of all things but in its stead there has been raised a Trocadero which bids fair to altogether eclipse the memories of the old favourite place of amusement .
