On Saturday Miss Helen Hopekirk , assisted by Signor Alberto Bach and Air . Carl Hamilton , gave a morning concert in the Freemasons' Hall . The room was filled in every part . The programme was , of course , largely made up of pianoforte solos , of which there were in all " no " fewer than thirteen , enabling Miss Hopekirk to give ample evidence of her capacity for the intrepretation of music of widely differing schools , and also of her

remarkable musical memory ; for all the solos were played without book , and though some of them were short , and one or two comparatively simple , several were of considerable length , and most of them of great complexity and difficulty . The breadth and masculine power of Miss Hopekirk ' s style , her clearness and roundness of touch , the delicacy and purity of her phrasing , and her command of impassioned expression were never more conspicuously illustrated than during Saturday ' s recital . The concert was a great
