Starkie Chapter , No . 934 . We had the great pleasure of visiting this chapter on Thursday , the 14 th instant , at Adelphi House , Salford . It was the annual installation of Principals and investiture of officers for the ensuing year . Comp . W . H . Southern , M . K . Z ., presided , and opened the chapter . As soon as the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed , Comp . Fletcher Armstrong , P . Z ., P . P . A . G . S ., resumed the chair for the purpose of installing Comps . John Williams , as M . E . Z . ; E . Meggitt , as H . ; and W . R . Sharp ,
as J . A Board ot Installed Principals was formed in the three stages , and the whole of the ceremony was admirably rendered by-our talented friend , Comp . Armstrong . The Principals were proclaimed by Comp . E . Williams , P . Z ., P . P . A . G . S ., and they were duly saluted under his direction . The ceremony throughout was excellent , and the surroundings of the chapter generally tended to make the beautiful ceremony very impressive . A very handsome P . Z . 's jewel was presented to Comp . W . H . Southern , who had

John Hervey Chapter , No . 1260 . The installation meeting of this well known and flourishing chapter was held at the Holborn Restaurant , on Wednesday , the 13 th inst ., and a goodly number of P . Zs . and companions attended to celebrate , amongst other things , the 25 th anniversary of the chapter . After the chapter had been opened and the minutes read , a conclave of First Principals was formed , and in a very impressive manner Comp . Gilbert Bartholomew installed Comp . J . Robertson Reep into the chair of M . E . Z . The M . E . Z . then installed
Comp . C J . Wilkinson Pembury as H ., and Comp . Pembury installed Comp , Deputy Goodinge , C . C ., as J . The following investiture of officers was made , viz .: Comps . G . Bartholomew , I . P . Z . ; Dr . Jabez Hogg , P . G . S . B ., Treas . ; A . C . Goodinge , S . E . ; J . Foss , S . N . ; W . C Fox , Principal Soj . ; F . Varley , ist A . S . ; J . DangerKeld , 2 nd A . S . ; and Edmunds , P Z ., Janitor . The announcement of the death of one of the oldest members of the chapter , Comp . P . P . Hill , was received with great regret . The M . E . Z ., on presenting the P . Z . 's jewel to the I . P . Z ., reminded the companions of the
successful year of office Comp . Bartholomew had had and that for many years past no M . E . Z . in the chapter had secured so many exaltees . The I . P . Z ., in responding , wished in recording his thanks , to testify to the { great interrst he took in Royal Arch Masonry , and said it was due to his zeal and interest in that branch of Masonry that he had been able to impress others with the necessity of coming in and taking the Degree . He was in ill-health and in being present that evening had disobeyed his doctor's orders , but he
had felt that he could delegate to none the pleasure he had experienced that evening in p lacing his old friend and tried Comp . Robertson Reep into the chair of M . E . Z . he had lust vacated . As it was the silver wedding year of the M . E . Z ., so it might be said to be the silver wedding day of the John Hervey Chapter , and he cordially wished that alt prosperity might attend the ceremony performed that day . The M . E . Z . proposed the names of two members of the mother lodge as exaltees .
After some further business had been transacted relating to accounts , certain communications , & c , the chapter was closed , and the companions adjourned to banquet with their visitors , 30 staying to partake of an ample and recherche repast . The usual loyal and patriotic toasts were duly honoured , and that of the Janitor's brought to a close a very pleasant and cordial evening . Old friends met and toasted one another and good fellowship excluded every discordant note , if we except the regret felt

BRO . WILLIAM BRADFORD , whose installation as W . M . of the Whittington Lodge , No . 862 , is recorded in another column , comes of a good old Devonian stock , was born at Exeter , November 7 th , 1844 , educated at King ' s College , Exeter , and served his articles with the Town Surveyor of Exeter . He came to London in 1865 , and was until 18 79 chief draughtsman to a well-known firm of engineers . He started in practice as consulting engineer and architect for breweries , distilleries , and the allied
trades first at King William-street , and for the last 16 years in Regent-street , has an extensive practice , and has designed and carried out breweries and distilleries in all parts of the globe , as , for instance , Canada , Newfoundland , New Zealand , Australia , China , South Africa , and almost every important town in the United Kingdom . Our brother was initiated in the Whittington Lodge , in 18 77 . He is also a member of The Abbey Lodge , No . 2030 , companion of the Whittington Chapter , and a member of the Savoy and High Cross Mark Lodges .
