The idea of an hereditary office in Masonry is preposterous- Besides , if lie ivill look lo the list of Irisli Grand Masters , as given in Br . The Provincial Grand Lodges in the Colonies are all , however , subordinate to the Grand Lodge of England , with the exception of that of Canada , which lias lately become independent . The Grand Lodge of Portugal is a Provincial Lodge , subordinate to the
Grand lodge of Ireland . Ethee . —We cannot see what necessity there was to hold the Lodge of Emergency at all . If the regular eight days' notice had been given hy the fiat of the W . M . to the brethren that the candidate mis to be bid lotted for , and ( if approved ) initialed , the Lodge of Emergency was unnecessary , and if not , the whole proceeding would be clearly illegal .
